Ah, right. I somehow missed the "many mouths" bit among the "mass of tentacles with no apparent 'body'" part.

Oh, and to be clear, the extra RHD numbers are purely to show at what advancement levels the creature grows to a new size category. I haven't suddenly decided we should rate monsters at multiple HD levels or something silly like that.

Form of Madness is a bonkers ability from a PC's perspective. It's basically a gaze attack, except it triggers when someone looks at you instead of when you look at someone. I don't see why a creature in range who doesn't close their eyes or something wouldn't be repeatedly subjected to the ability. This is a fairly strong attack, but it's also a problem because it's so party unfriendly. I'm tempted to say we should asterisk it away, but I'm not sure it's quite that problematic.

We've dealt with party-unfriendly auras before, and they usually don't get asterisked. And do remember the 24-hour immunity on a successful save.

Bit of a note, there's a 4th level Power by the name of Mindwipe as well, which is a Fortitude save vs. two temporary Negative Levels rather than Will vs. 2d4.

The thing is a painfully excellent Totemist, and seems like it may actually be able to afford a decent Amulet of Natural Attacks (the one that allows special qualities) with how much could be saved on normal itemization. Of particular note is the synergy with Displacer Mantle, as those Tentacles will give extra Mindwipe chances and Binding it is giving you a miss chance. I seriously doubt any DM would take away the "main" chain of Hands/Arms/Shoulders for the thing since it has limbs, and some may actually being fool enough to give two sets.

I'll vote LA +1 since it has the hooks to go pants on head with the vomiting of Negative Levels with remarkably little effort, but doesn't do much else. DC 19 Will saves will be mulching plenty of targets, even into quite high levels, and most of what Totemist has to offer takes very few levels in it to start going completely silly.

You don't have a lot to help with the Big Dumb Fighter problem, but you're going to be a pretty damn good melee fighter with Pounce and seven natural attacks.

I'm not even sure if this thing strictly needs the usual "aquatic creatures are assumed to be rated for aquatic campaigns" consideration because it can still function on dry land, and 20 land speed isn't bad(it's only about dwarf or Small-sized PC level). Though on the other hand I'm not sure if the aquatic part is a huge cost-saver at that level anyways...

That's a really good fighter‚ with as many as 7 potential negative levels per round‚ and native access to soul eater for 7 more. A few levels of totemist would not hurt either. Obyrith 12/Monk 1/Totemist2/Soul Eater 5 seems okay to me. Still‚ the stats are lowish with a penalty to Int‚ you can't use weapons beyond your natural ones‚ and using restoration every day on the party to suppress Form of Madness will quickly become a bore. I don't think this deserves a positive LA. I vote LA+0.

The Int penalty is slightly less problematic considering that it's an Outsider, so at least you get plenty of skill points from your RHD.

I feel like this is actually +2. Outsider HD is already better than comparison point Fighter or Monk, its stat boosts are excellent, attack rate and its bonus abilities are bonkers. Feel like your party needs some kind of way to suppress the negative levels or at will free Restoration, but that doesn't make *this* character weaker. Its like how a Frenzied Barbarian has chances of PKing accidentally.
