    Default nested quotes

I wonder if it would be possible to change the implementation of nested quotes.

Right now, if you quote a post with a quote, it the inner quote will be removed completely.
This is important to avoid really long posts with many repetitions of the same text.

However, it can make it hard to follow the train of thought, especially if a page or two is between the posts.

So, I wonder if it would be possible to keep a line with the header of the quote (including the link to the post if there is any)

    So something like this:

    Could become this:

    instead of this:

This is not a very important thing, but I thought I could ask about it.

If you feel the need to, you can make nested quotes yourself by answering multiple posts and then using Ctrl+X/Ctrl+V like so:

Having seen forums do it both ways, I prefer the current implementation. Quote pyramids quickly become unfun. I suppose changing the "maximum_quote_pyramid_depth" parameter from 1 to 2 might be feasible, but I suspect that there is no such parameter.

Most of the problem, in my experience, arises when people give perfunctory answers to perfunctory answers and thus all the context is contained in a quote 2 or 3 posts up the chain. Alternatively, people in the chain respond without quoting and then get quoted.

I know it's possible to include a quote in another quote. But thats not what I'd like to suggest.
I absolutely do not wish to add a quote pyramid.

I would like to have the 'header' of the quote, without the content.

    So, instead of

    Thanks for the suggestion.

There will be no change to the way quotes work on the current version of the forum software. The best I can suggest is that when you know a quote had quotes inside it, follow the little arrow at the top of the quote () to see the original reply with quotes intact.
