    Eokos inclines his head in a deep nod of gratitude. "I greatly appreciate your allowance, Magna Soror. The Three, Yanartas, from on high on the mountain--he found something, an orb. It...it seemed to merge with his magic, interact with it. His magic escaped in a rush, and it caused the changes you see. We were horrified as we saw what changed in him as well. He is enraged, fuming, scowling. Whatever happened shook him badly, made him mad. When we managed to leave, he was muttering about needing to gain control. He was talking about runes--I assume, the three runes that the medusa, bullywugs, and Yanartas possess. We fear that means he will come after you all for your control rune. We came to warn you, though I hope it does not come to pass."

    Temaias listened intently to Eokos speaking to the medusae, blessing him once more with the power of Bahamut and once he had said his peice Temaias would add, gesturing towards the gates that they came in for in a dramatic fashion. "Let's not dance around the issue. The three headed beast will in but a day come through these gates to steal that which you guard. We as much as you do not wish this to come to pass." He clutches his fist tightly. "So lets join forces to cast the beast down and we will make sure this orb will not cause any more calamity for anyone by returning it from once it came...Letting you continue your duty to guard your slumbering mistress. What say you?"

    "We hope you agree to join forces with us, but even if you don't, the fact of the matter is that Yanartas is going to attack your territory tomorrow, and we will be right behind to attack him, because the one who sent us here tasked us with stopping him and retrieving the orb. We came here to warn you so you can prepare your defenses and help us set up an ambush. The more people attack him at once, the better our chances are".

    "Very well. Your messssage hass been heard. We will remain on our guard. If you wissh to fight to defend the Mother, we will remember your faccess. But you may not sstay here, in this ssacred ssepulchre. If you sspeak true we will ssee you again... ssoon."

    She gestures with the heavy, taloned upper arms. "Now begone! Thiss iss a holy placce, and you dissresspect it with every sstep."

    Temaias would release a sigh of relief as the medusa agreed to their terms. He would face his comrades and look around. "So where do we hold out until the time comes?...We should perhaps... avoid ourselves?" Temaias scratched his head, furrowing his scaled brow as he visibly tried to work through this whole time traveling thing. If smoke could come out of his ear holes it would. In either case wherever his friends decided to go and rest he would follow suit.

    Together, you return to the main room and you have a short debate about destroying the waterfall and paradoxes. Temaias falls asleep.

    Finally you resolve to use a scroll of passwall instead. Beyond the waterfall is a winding stair, just wide enough for a creature of Yanartas' size. It climbs back and up through the mountain; the journey takes the better part of an hour. You come out eventually into a large, freezing cave that has been fashioned into a den. It has two levels, giving the impression of an audience chamber. When you enter the room, you see an opaque dome on the upper level, but it vanishes when you climb up.

    From here you have a good vantage of the whole chamber, including a huge cave opening that looks out on the jungle and bay you saw earlier. You can see the sea stretching to the horizon, and any long observation begins to give telltales that this is a vast illusion.

    In the back of the upper layer, another stair leads beneath the platform to a stinking hoard of medusa leathercrafts and bullywug bones. Mixed among them are a few chunk of metal sculpture or perhaps a dismantled golem. Secreted under a large medusa skull, spiny with vertebrae, you find a book Yanartas has used to record his experiments and a slghtly-strange rapier-like weapon, light and quick to the hand (a Scimitar of Speed).

    The book proves to be a record of Yanartas's attempts to understand the dungeon from within. It is clear he has made significant progress--he knew some grand illusion lay over their lives, and was obsessed with seeing what lay beneath. He also experimented again and again with his sphinx abilities to control time.

    Exploring the cavern more thoroughly, you discover the fruits of these experiments. In some parts of the lair, the sun seems to streak across the sky, while in others you see the clouds freeze. As you wander through these zones, Jeevok vanishes. Temaias gasps and dashes towards him, then stops and reels. The lionskin cloak vanishes from his belt.

    A moment later, Jeevok reappears, wearing the lion-skin cloak.

    Jeevok looks to his friends. For a few seconds, he is completely confused and does not remember how he got here.

    Then he starts to remember. Oh, yes. They had just defeated the mighty Yanartas and returned to the City of Light. Then a few days passed, and then one night he went to sleep and woke up... here.

    It was a great fight, actually. One of the best of his life. He swinged and swinged his new Scimitar of Speed like it was an extension of his arm. Medusas threw arrows, Temaias screamed amazing thigs and dealt ridiculous amounts of damage with each blow, Eokos player his instrument and made the universe bend to favor them.

    He didn't remember many details, though. Just the thrill of fighting, as if he had become a god of war and got in perfect tune with his opponent. Now it seemed he would have to fight him again. Damn, if he knew that would happen he would have made more of an effort to memorize Yanartas's weak points!

    But he was feeling stronger. The fight had enhanced his body. Not just that, his mind also felt much sharper. After having his mind surrendered by many enemies, he had finally gotten fed up with it. So he asked Eokos and Temaias to help him get better at resisting spells. They spent 3 days training, which mostly consisted of Eokos throwing enchantments at Jeevok while Temaias preached about the virtues of having a sharp mind.

    Was it all going to happen again? Jeevok was not sure. The fact he was here, with a different past and stronger, meant they were in a different timeline. He knew what timelines were because he had spent the nights after training reading a book about time travel he had grabbed from the library at the CoL. The whole experience with this dungeon had made him curious about how time worked. But the book was hard and the goblin had only gotten a surface level of knowledge of it so far. But if this was a different timeline, it also meant success was not guaranteed just because it had happened once before. So Jeevok had to make sure not to lower his guard.

    "Uh, hello again, guys." - he said awkwardly, before he began explaining he was from the future. Hopefully at least the satyr would understand it, and Temaias would silently nod. That was good enough.

    "Welcome back, Jeevok," Eokos answers. When it is revealed Temaias doesn't seem to remember why they are here, Eokos takes delight in teasing the man with ever-grander stories of what happened between the stairs and now. Eventually he gives in and tells Temaias what actually happened.

    "So I guess Jeevok here will scout out the doorway when the time comes? So we know when our past selves have gone up the stairs."

    During the rest, Eokos will peruse Yanartas' book out of curiosity.

    Temaias after having been displaced in time, or having his memory altered back to the last rest they had within the dungeon...However one would wish to phrase it he was relieved to find out the after some slow, step by step explaining by his companions, that the negotiations with the Medusa had gone well. And any embellishments that the satyr made was shocking yet could not possibly consider that they would be lies...Until the satyr told him of course. He would grumble at the deceit but did not chastise him for it. Then Jeevok telling stories about how he had been cast forward in time rather than back had Temaias comprehension slowly erode and ended up simply nodding slowly in agreement to everything that was said. During their rest Temaias would yet again inquire for his gods wisdom in the coming battle. Seating himself in prayer with his familiar in front of him he prays.

    "Oh sacred law-bringer... I beseech you at the eve of battle for your courage, wisdom and protection. Hear my woes and soothe my spirit."

    "Although our alliance with the medusa is formed. Will they betray us at the moment of victory to seize the orb for their own wicked gains or for something else?"

    "I've heard of the fate of the Enchanters original home...Its destruction...Would it be possible for this demi-plane he has made to be used as a shelter and safe haven for those who end up in similar catastrophes in the future?"

    "The enchanter may have lost his entire world...But there has to be someone...Does the enchanter care for anyone within the order of the pax? Is someone close to his heart among them?"


    Once that is done he would finally sleep. At the next morning Temaias was yet again back to his rites and prayers, ritualistically donning his blessed armor, coating it in holy oils and checking the purity seals. Each rune inspected to see it was not dented. The large gem on the breastplate polished with reverence and a solemn whisper. His weapon inspected and blessed with holy water and powdered silver. Once everything was ready he would turn to his allies. "Before we set out...There is something I wish to do." He holds out his holy symbol in his hand letting it hang down in front of them both. "In my faith there is a saying that we pray through our deeds and actions. For they speak louder than any litany or prayer. But this does not mean we do not have litanies or prayers. I may have sworn all oaths but there is one litany, a promise, a poem, a prayer that I and the founding members of my order swore in the name of Bahamut, at its very founding. It is still sworn today on my world. And it is spoken at the eve of every great battle...For clarity and to center oneself for the coming conflict. And to bring Bahamuts gaze upon you at the harshest of moments...I wish to say this now...To bless you, us, for this battle to come."

    With the blessing done they would head to their planned out location, Jeevok scouting ahead with masterful agility and stealth, Eokos encouraging them both to lighten their spirits and Temaias would set to work casting all spells and wards he had. His armor cloaked in ice of frozen holy water, his eyes lighting up with the sight of the ethereal realm, his movements becoming light and unrestricted despite his bulk and finally his form spread wings, tail and a cloak of holy energy giving him an otherworldly form of grand stature and fury. But unlike previously this form was ferocious in its aura, the eyes burning with a righteous fury and fire manifesting the fury and wrath of his god. All the while his familiar would follow suit a bit further away to remain out of harms way.

    While Temaias does his Communion, Eokos ritually links the three of their minds--the better to coordinate during combat, if they don't have to speak out loud. For his part, Eokos listens solemnly to Temaias' prayer. When the man finishes, Eokos places a hand on both Temaias' and Jeevok's shoulders.

    "That's a tough act to follow," he says with a grin, as the Inkokos on his chest splits into two. The two Inkokos scamper to his hands, and they place their hands upon his friends' shoulders in turn. "So I'll just say--after everything the three of us have done, separately and together, an overgrown, three-headed cat is small potatoes. I know we can do this. Drinks are on me once we get back." He finishes with a grin, and the Inkokos on his hands return to his chest and merge back into one.

    As you approach, you hear a roar that shivers your bones, but you are not quite in range of any supernatural effect.

    The shattered ice is melting and makes the doorway a little slippery. As you enter the temple, you see Yanartas being assailed by medusae; they are wrapped around the columns, near the ceiling, and peppering the chimera with arrows. The doorway at the far end of the room is blocked by the Magna Soror.

    The chimera snarls as you enter, but Eokos has the drop on him.

    Eokos smirks at Yanartas, but it is a sad smile. He wishes that the creature had been able to be reasoned with. But, nothing for it now.

    "Why don't you just relax, Yarnie?" he asks, strumming his lute and directing a wave of paralytic energy towards the creature. "Well, your muscles won't be relaxing after this, but it's the thought that counts."

    After casting his spell, he ducks behind a pillar relative to Yanartas to get some cover.

    Temaias marched with his allies at each of his sides. His majestic wings unfurling behind them to herald their approach and his sword being leveled at the creature in challenge. "My name is King Temaias! I have sensed the growing shadow in your heart and I will not allow it to smother this world or any other! You path to tyranny ends today! Have at thee!" With this Eokos' spell takes hold which paralyzes the creature, Temaias was prepared and as Eokos jumps to the side Temaias takes to the skies and like a star of blue and golden light flies towards the massive beast. But as he comes down with his first strike his blade, however much blessed, is unable to find purchase in the creatures thick fur and flesh. He grunts as he pushes all of his might in to the swing trying to slice the beast. It is then the words of his horned ally echoes in his mind. "after everything the three of us have done, separately and together, an overgrown, three-headed cat is small potatoes."...He was right. Temaias has stood against a god, a god with two more heads than this abomination and still stood triumphant. And so with a mighty roar Temaias musters that minuscule amount of extra strength needed to get his blade through its flesh. As he swings the blade up he as well uses his wings to soar above the beast only to come down with his blade above his head. "No monster, fiend or Tyrant shall prevail! In the name of the Justicemaker will you be stopped!" He through the aid of Jeevok knew where to land his second blow as he came down and another grevious wound was struck at the beast before Temaias landed so hard it would crack the stone beneath him. But he was not yet done. Fueling his muscles with the power of his divine blood his body moved faster than one could ever imagine with such a huge blade. And as it then cracked with thunder he would bring it back up again slicing the beast stomach open while the cascading energies wrapped around it.

    But that was when Temaias eyes lit up with holy flame, his voice booming in unison with another that seemed to speak at the same time, echoing through the entire chamber. "In the name of Bahamut shall you be judged!" And suddenly the 3 gashes in the monsters body suddenly erupted with holy light searing the creatures flesh. "And in Bahamuts name shall we prevail!"

    The brutal slashes cut off two of the chimera's heads, the lion head and dragon head thudding heavily to the ground.

    As they do, the ground trembles underfoot. In the doorway, the Magna Soror looks troubled and darts away through the curtain. From beyond the curtain you hear the sound of crashes and shifting architecture, and a crack zigzags through the ceiling.

    Jeevok was just happy he was able to do it a second time.

    At the end of the day, he wasn't just a leader, a rebebel and a strategy. More than anything, he was a warrior. A fighter. And fighting was where he felt the most alive.

    He slashed, and slashed and slashed, moving so fast it was almost like he was flying. A hit to one neck, another one to a leg, then to a tail, then to the chest and to the belly, then a very distracting one on the eye, then finally, another slash on the neck, finally severing it.

    Even as the sounds of destruction continue from beyond the arch, Jeevok shreds the chimera with his new blade. The creature shudders and falls to the ground as its last head is severed, the orb rolling free from the carnage. You can see that it is already marked with one of the three runes of the dungeon, explaining why Yanartas's rune was not visible in his lair.

    And then, with an awful cataclysm of sound, taloned hands the size of a troll grip the roof and tear it clean off. Depending on where the columns splinter, some of the medusa are carried away and hurled into the distance with it. The wall to the south collapses, crumbling down the mountain, revealing the secret passage and the jungle and boiling sea below.

    Directly to the west, you can see the pile of devastated architecture around the waist of Gorgo, the Mother Medusa. Somewhere in that rubble you see the Magna Soror struggle. And directly overhead you see a face that fills the sky, a medusa crowned not with serpents but with hydras. Her expression, at first furious, gives way to confusion and curiosity.

    And then you realize you should not have looked up, as Temaias is immediately struck to stone, looking into the man-sized burning eyes. Jeevok, Eokos, you feel your muscles seize up as petrification climbs up your limbs. One huge hand begins to reach into the chaos of the temple--and then, from the churning sea below, a tentacle lashes out and wraps around her wrist. The Judge is dead; Gorgo is risen; the balance is shattered.

    The Kraken rises from the sea to do battle with its ancient enemy, and from the bullywug village you can hear screams of fear and religious ecstasy.

    Straining his legs to move, Eokos brandishes his Physician's Blade. "No way am I gonna go down like this," he mutters, giving himself some extra willpower. He proffers his knife to Temaias' familiar. "Bahamut Jr, you can use this to un-petrify Temaias," he says, tossing it to the familiar to take.

    Temaias' familiar did not even seem to need the command to know what had to be done. It flew past Eokos, catching the blade mid air and would make a forward dash through the air with the knife gripped in all of its appendages. As it crashed in to Temaias' stony form cracks started to appear while light shone out through them. However as the stony shell shattered with a roar from Temaias as he broke loose from his petrification so did his familiar scatter in to the ether in a cloud of smoke having been wounded by Temaias' spells. Temaias immediately realized what had happened and turned his gaze away from the massive medusa but instead looked around towards his allies. Seeing their predicament but with the chimera slain he laughed. "I knew you could do it!!" He cried out triumphantly as he ran towards his friends, swooping up the orb in the process. Temaias wasn't exactly thinking through his plan it was more of an instinct really, pulling helpless people out of dangerous situations was like second nature to him. Weaving his spells without even needing to move his hands or utter incantations. He ran up to Jeevok first and immediately grabbed on to him. "We are getting out of here!" And not giving the goblin too much time to respond, lifted him up and teleported with him to Eokos. He could not be sure that Jeevok would manage to throw off the petrification and so figured he would get all of them out immediately. "Eokos! Grab on to me!" He shouted as his satyr friend saw him step out of the flash of light like a golden hero of legend. As Eokos placed his hand on his armor, Jeevok in one arm, orb in the other. They would all be shunted through the either and appear yet again in the secret laboratory.

    With a heavy sigh of relief, Eokos places his hand on Jeevok's stone form. "Come back to us, Jeevok, you're wasted as a lawn ornament," he says, invoking his magic in his usual irreverent way. The curative magic courses over Jeevok's form, and where it touches grey stone becomes green flesh.

    Looking over the room, Eokos calls out, "Oi, Zazzlebrax, we got your orb back! Sorry about the inter-god war. I imagine you're strong enough to wrangle them, or have contingencies in place for it."

    Jeevok comes back to life.

    "Alright, I don't want to see another medusa for a long time."

    Although being turned to stone is shameful, Jeevok recognizes there was no way they could see THAT coming. Though in hindsight, it makes sense. Yanartas was keeping the balance between the 3 powers, and with him dead, they now will restart their conflict.

    "It's a shame the one keeping the power balance turned out to be the one who tried to take it all down." - he comments.

    "Well Zazzelbrax, as promised, we have your orb, and the chimera has three fewer heads. Hopefully with the orb you can stop the... spectacle that is happening at the medusae' temple."

    In the time since you were here, the laboratory has been set to rights; there's even a very small kraken gestating again in the appropriate tube. The other creatures, including the clone of Zazzlebrax, appear to have returned to their stasis. In the distance, you can hear the thundering as the titans battle and the dungeon crumbles. The lesser orb in the center of the room dims as you bring out the true Master Control Orb.

    You see no obvious sign of Zazzlebrax.

    Frustrated, mind racing too fast to think clearly, Eokos bounds over to the tube with the Zazzlebrax clone. "Wakey, wakey," he calls, knocking on the glass of the tube. "We've got the main orb, the dungeon's gonna collapse from the Kaiju battle outside!"

    Jeevok realizes the clone is probably the one they need to talk to, and also attempts to wake him up by knocking the glass.

    He tries to do it quickly, the dragonborn is staring at the orbs in a way that makes him worried.

    Inside the tank, Zazzlebrax's clone opens his eyes. He raises a hand, drifting slowly through the mysterious fluids, and waves it. The lesser orb disintegrates.

    As they all arrive in the lab Temaias of course lets his petrified companion down gently as Eokos heals him back to normal. Temaias as well looks around while his two companions call out to the enchanter. He notices the small orb still there, thinking perhaps he should touch both with the bigger orb perhaps causing the negative effects of the smaller orb to be negated...Of course by the time Temaias has finished thinking this idea the others would have had plenty time to move up to the tube where the clone lays...Probably even longer.

    Then his hard thinking is interrupted by the whole lab shaking, he stumbles allitle from the suprise but keeps his footing. By the time he looks back at the small orb it is then gone. He curses in his mind thinking he has missed an oppertunity but when Eokos then shouts at him to place the large orb on the pedistal he leaves that thought and simply does so. Trusting his companions would know what to do.

    Blows continue to rock the lab as the kraken rages against the mountain, but the clone closes his hand in a fist and suddenly the noise dies away. The third rune lights up, and suddenly a spout of energy flowing from the pedestal engulfs Temaias and the rest of the group.

    You float in darkness, the design of the dungeon laid in lines of fire across your mind. You can see the damage wrought by the battling titans and the failed attempt to incorporate fourth-dimensional elements. Even more, you can feel your consciousness suffused through the control elements, the shape and nature of the simulation responding to your thoughts.

    As Temaias found himself in this space...This void...With the dungeon sprawled out infront of him like some grand architect planning his next project...Temaias felt...Humbled, his mind grasping the weight, the power that his mere thoughts would have on this place. And the realization that in this very moment to this Demiplane he was the closest thing to a god...One could think such a feeling would bring a sense of joy or elation...But not for Teamaias. He immediatly grasped the gravity of responsibility he now held and the power did not go to his head like it would perhaps do to so many others...

    He spoke, not that he knew if any of his companions heard him. "...One of us should try to find the enchanter. I will not be capable of this I feel...But I have another idea that might help him see reason once we speak with him...An example."

    Temaias knew his mind was not the sharpest, nor was he all that wise...And although he was very much capable of destroying things...In his heart he was a creator. A creator of safe havens, of hope. And so rather than trying to work out the intricasies of this with his mind he thought with his heart. And so he reached out his hand.

    And so Temaias would create what he saw as the true potential of this place...Not a playground for horrific creatures as a mad experiment...Seperated from everything else within the dungeoun he would create a space filled with everything the varied population of a whole world would need to live. Places to sleep, find food, shelter, to communicate, to live, breathe and die...Perhaps it would be simple but its purpose was to prove a point. He sought in his heart for what he wished to do...And that was the ideal that all innocents struck by calamity deserves shelter and protection...But most importantly, a place to call home. And this is what Temaias would try to channel through in to this place. A sense of harmony, love and protection.

    You try to give shape to your idea, but struggle with the unfamiliar interface, and your inherent creativity isn't quite enough to make up the difference. The village you create is peaceful, but lacking in some key attributes; the sun is just a painted surface, and the cycling of water and air isn't sustainable. It works, possibly, as a model or proof of concept, but would not support life for long.

    Jeevok watches as his friend tries to create an utopia, with mixed results. Meanwhile, he thinks about it and compares with his own experiences.

    He finally adds:

    "It's not the place. There are infinite worlds with plenty of resources. It's the people. For some reason, they tend to fight, enslave and exploit each other.

    We need to learn why, and change that."


    He then decides to search the dungeon's timeline, and figure out why is it that the three powers hated each other so much. Maybe if he understands it, he could get them to find a common ground.
