Halloween is right around the corner. I hope New York City (my hometown) will have the Halloween Parade this year.
It's time to get my Magikarp on!

I'm not so sure about that....You might be better off choosing "Halloween" as the theme for your interior decorating and have a bunch of Halloween-type decorations up year-round, like my little sister does.

I once spent about three weeks living on hot pockets and pizza rolls.

I didn't get bored of it... But I did start to regret it at the end of the month.

One of several reasons why it's a good thing that I'm trying to get into the habit of cooking real food.

On that note: Repeated the Vienna bread sandwich from yesterday using extra sharp cheddar and dijon mustard but otherwise preparing t the same way.

I am getting very close to cracking the perfect grilled cheese, I feel. I still want to experiment with pumpernickel or other rye breads, which are delicious, but I'm thinking that Vienna bread is the way to go.

You ever have one of those days where you just kind of want to crawl into a box, curl into a ball, and sleep for a thousand years?

I'm feeling like that now, honestly. Tired, headachey, and rather unmotivated right now.

I'm at the point of wondering if being n superhumanly good health and condition would lead to feeling more motivated.

Probably yeah. I certainly noticed I have more motivation when I am healthy, and it can slide into total depression when I get hit by a car or the like.

Honestly, car diving should probably be more regulated than it is.

Mass transport—city buses and train travel and the like—would be more efficient than everyone having cars, but, you know, conspiracies between big oil and big automotive to disable public transport and change the laws regarding pedestrian traffic to encourage people to buy cars.

Also, I think at this point installing more intercity and interstate train transportation would require rerouting roads and tearing down buildings and that would just be a mess. One of those situations where the damage is done and can't be easily fixed.

Self-driving electric cars would probably solve most of the problems with cars—both with irresponsible drivers and with the polluting effects of automobiles—but...

Like, I remember back in middle school science class reading about all of these alternatives to gas-based cars that people were working on.... But the only ones that ended up in wide distribution were the ones that still used gasoline, just not as much of it.

Yes. Its not uncommon for people with sleep apnea to feel more motivated once they get on a machine.

I was tested for sleep apnea once.

It was during the time I was recovering from my blood clot: In the scan they found pulmonary embolisms so in the aftermath they sent me to a lung specialist.

And he ordered the test without otherwise checking anything more directly related the condition I went in for. He also strongly emphasized that I was overweight, so I think he just saw "fat guy, better check for condition common among the obese."

Like, I know that sleep apnea can sometimes cause blood clots, but I only learned of the connection after the fact and that's pretty much all he did. Order the sleep apnea tests, which was at a completly different clinic, then come back to get the results from the first doctor.

Did not have sleep apnea, by the way.

Every other doctor I went to in the aftermath of my hospital focuses on the issue of the blood clot and possible causes/related factors... I haven't thought about him till now, but now I'm kind of wondering if he was one of those doctors who thinks that any health problem an obese person has are directly tied to the abosecity.

To be fair to the doctor, sleep apnea is insanely common. And not even among the obese; it's pretty universal. Large necks can exacerbate it, so both being overweight and also being very fit can work against people here - cops and firefighters tend to have it in spades, since the less-weighty ones tend to be in the muscley end of the spectrum, and I guarantee the NFL is absolutely riddled with it.

And then sometimes it's just the internal anatomy of the neck. The genetic lottery sucks for a lot of people. Wasn't uncommon for me to see people accurately described as bean poles have horrible apnea.

Its just a common thing to look for if you have the right symptoms. Which can include way more than you'd expect, and also can be pretty generic.

Well, good news. Time machines are very easy to get. I've got a few. Heck, I wear one around my wrist all day. They're locked at one second per second, though.

Gasoline is actually a near-ideal fuel in a lot of ways, putting aside the whole 'nasty released combustion products' part of it - it stores a lot of energy in a fairly compact format (ie you can get a lot of range/work from a relatively small amount of it), it can be easily stored and transported in easy to manufacture and easy to handle containers, and you can get the energy out of it in a pretty straightforward way that can be harnessed into a variety of other methods. Most gasoline alternatives significantly fail in one or more of those, which makes them difficult to employ as a mass-market alternative.

Agreed. It killed Reggie White (very famous NFL star) in his early 50s, it is super prevalent and quite dangerous for very large people regardless of their fitness level.

    Changing cubject.

My mom has this thing she calls a pizza bake.

You get a can or two of biscuit* dough, a can of pizza sauce, and a bag of premade frozen meatballs(Italian style) cut up the biscuits, mix it all up, put it in a casserole dish, and pop it into the oven at 350 tor 30-40 minutes, bring it back out, sprinkle mozzarella over it, and pop it back in the oven to melt the cheese.

*That would be American biscuits, by the way... Which are apparently a kind of savory scone.
