It doesn't have the "mind-affecting" tag, PF is generally pretty good about including those if it means it.

Doesn't matter if it's mind-affecting. Protection from evil only grants a second save against spells that control, not against every mind-affecting effect.

I am hinging the spell's auto-protect vs mind control effect to do away the need to save if it is one or extra bonus to saves if creature is evil. Just need Drk's answer before I roll for Tygar.

No. Its not a compulsion affect so the Magic Circle doesn't block it. But he is EVIL so you do get the +2 resistance bonus to the saves in general .

No, he passed his Cast Defensively check so didn't provoke

That means Lara saves due to circle bonuses overriding her normal resistance bonus. But that sickened effect is nasty by doling out the -2 penalties to his aim and immune system. Oof.
