It's still a nasty beastie to try and fight alone! I'm not at all sure it won't get Lara before she gets it, and even if she does kill it will she even know what to do with the blood? At least it's a greater basilisk so that there'll be enough blood to go round.

I sense a TPK coming up. Lara's FORT save isn't good enough to withstand multiple rounds of this. Oh well, if we're all turned to stone the sea wyvern can send a search party, slay the basilisk, and de-stonify us.

Oh dear! That’s a party of 4 very nice statues, a gnome, dwarf and two humans!
I think this is my first TPK that I’ve had!

If it’s any consolation the basilisk only had ~11 hps left so she was very close!

Argh! One more round and I'd have had it. So what now? Over a decade of DMing without a tpk was a good run. 11hp remaining does sound like something the crew of the wyvern could overcome, but there may not be enough basilisk blood to go round...

I think re recruitment, try and find 3 brave people to slay the basilisk and then crack on for exploring Tamochian then onto the isle of dread

Ok, cool. I think the way we could handle this is by having the new PCs come from the crew of the Wyvern or Nixie given we're not at a port. New players could have the choice of a named NPC from the crew list, or as to now unmentioned lower deckers (either way let's say their abilities to now were not accurately estimated when they were recently employed). Or maybe they were stowaways. They can then volunteer (or be volunteered by the master at arms) to join the rescue party.

I think 3 extra would be a solid number.
