Well, he isn't going to target any more equipment this fight. Its not impossible for the fighters to attack him even without magical gear, but it changes the fight's dynamic and hopefully changes the initial strategy. Also, it was the equivalent of a lightning storm to get rid of the crossbows, which are unaffected by several other abilities in alot of creature's arsenal. But still, its a frustrating strategy, but its still supported by RAW just as using a rock as an improvised weapon or backpacks having a limited volume. Very rarely used and can be a headache, but if it adds tension, its usable.

I don't think either the fighter nor cleric has moved, the kraken has but after it grabbed the fighter, so the fighter's 30ft from the kraken, the cleric is 50ft away, the rogue should be about 25ft away.

You actually don't need to fasthands the xbow, I think its reasonable to hand stuff off as an interaction. You can use your BA as you wish.
