That's going to be a bit of an issue for your stated aim of running modern games on the thing--Linux is a lot better for gaming than it used to be and you can even get a reasonable number of Windows-only games running via things like Steam Proton and Lutris, but it can still involve a lot of fiddling around to get them to run properly, assuming they will at all.

Technical difficulties during exam. Have to reschedule.

Please excuse me while I scream until my voice stops working.

It's a decent stop gap until I can scrounge up £120 for a copy of Windows.

Goddamnit. I remember going through the same once the first or second time I took a certification exam years ago when the computer would just.... stop as I was half-way through. This stuff can be nerve-racking enough as it is, you don't need that this kind of nonsense on top of it.

I've built giant death robots in Civ 6 and used them to conquer the world as a roman emperor. I wouldn't exactly say I'd want to be that exactly but their existence would be pretty cool yet terrifying. I'd mostly get rid of the giant and death parts and focus on the robot bit.

I dont think being a giant death robot has worked out for any giant death robots in the history of ever.

I mean it depends on whether you consider super robot mecha genre to be death robots or not. sure firing rocket punches and whatnot is kind of silly, but you can't deny those giant mecha still can probably inflict a lot of damage on whoever they're fighting and the protagonists of those giant mechs are played up as virtuous knights.

Well, ideally if you wanted to you'd be able to switch back and force.

Back in... When was Digimon Data Squad airing? One of my paternal cousins was like five or six at the time and now he's in college, so...

    Curse you, flow of time!

Anyway, Data Squad, or sAvers if you prefer the orignal Japanese, has an evil scientist who hates Digmimon and wants to destroy them all permenantly for... Some reason. Note: His plan involves creating Human-Digimon Hybrids, manufacturing his own Digimon, and then fusing with a Digimon himself so he's kind of a hypocrite.

His Hybrids just kind of... Get to turn into a pre-existing Digimon. Each of the "Bio-Hybrids" had an Armor form and a Mega form

Back at the time, I thought it would be really cool to be "BioMachineDramon."

Imagine this, which for context is I think about sixty feet tall, but with a purple head for some reason.

oh yeah that would totally be cool. add in some ability to fly and it might be useful for something in my life, fly to other places, transform back ...though I might cause trouble if people see me flying around as a giant robot, might get the wrong impression? I don't think people are likely to see a giant flying robot coming towards their city and assume anything other than "OH NO, SOMEONE MADE A GIANT ROBOT TO KILL US ALL!". and that would just put a damper on things y'know? because then things get complicated.

On a related note, I found a set of three MS-DOS 6.22 disks this morning while looking for a Character Builder (HeroMaker - Champions) that came with an RPG in 1995. Thankfully the builder is on a 3.5" disk and I still have a 3.5 drive that I can now try to plug into my system to see if this program will actually run.
I don't want to spend $25 to download the current version for what's probably a one-off use for a RPG scenario that I may never actually run.

Eh, being a truly giant death robot would just force me to constantly sir in the garage, as I'd cost too many points to field. I'll take a Dreadnaught shell instead, still a big walking tank of doom and I can actually shoot things without worrying about where the replacement bullets are coming from.

This is, of course, only for when I could no longer take to the field in matte black power armour with an inferno pistol and power sword.

It's a mega level Digimon. Depending on continuity they can all fly. How? Who gives a crap.

And uh, I mean... MachineDramon literally has the ability to spam tactical nuclear weapons* from its chest. People would be right to fear someone who can turn into one.

*Kinda. Heat, radiation, and a shockwave come out but digital Nukes don't poduce fallout.

Sometimes people hear what they want to hear. Does your father have a history of dismissing or minimizing issues that are important to you or concerns you have for your own wellbeing?

No, but he does have a history of assuming rather than listening and then remembering his assumption as being correct.

He acknowledges that there is a problem when I bring one up, but the problem is never the one he thinks it is, because he jumps to conclusions.

The worst part is that I've picked up this habit from him, though at least I'm trying to kick it.

    I'm very conflicted.

I feel like my quality of life would be better if I had some kind of tangible "power" if only because asshats would be less likely to pick fights with me if I didn't seem like an easy target, but at the same time I don't think I can be trusted not to go mad with power.

And then there are some days where I just think "the world is already fundamentally broken, what's the worst that could possibly happen if I possessed absurd power?"

It doesn't have to be superpowers. It could be money. It could be a weapon. I was once told I should run for public office.

And even restricting it to superpowers: every single urban fantasy or changeling fantasy story has it so that the supernatural world is hidden from mundane people or most mere mortals and the protagonist doesn't find out about it until they discover their powers. Every comic book setting has that first guy who gets superpowers from something that should have killed him before everyone else comes out of the woodwork.

There's a maybe a 100,000,000,000 to 1 chance that superpowers are real, and a 900,000,000,000 to one chance that I'll be the first guy who gets superpowers or turn out to be a wizard or the reincarnation of a Mythical Hero or become a vampire PI or Werewolf supermodel...

The odds are that it's not real, and odds are greater still that if it was it wouldn't be me, but with my luck the moment I stop thinking about it...

I'm not talking about criticism... Well, maybe unfounded criticisms but in my experiance people don't actually care if their critiques are valid.

Comic Book: Fills in a major missing piece in this character's backstory to explain why they went from an anti-hero to a monster

Alleged Fans: "Oh, boo hoo he had a sad backstory so that makes everything he did okay?"

Me: "That's very clearly not what it's saying."

Other readers *Dismiss me with some bullcrap about how of course I'm dismissing their totally valid criticism becuase I'm Stanning for the character.*

Ironically, some of these same people will go on to outright ignore terrible things that their favorite villains have done.

Anyway, it's not being shielded from criticisms. It's being shielded from deliberate mistreatment.

You're a manager at a business and you're having a bad day so you decide to take it out on one of your employees. You're probably not gonna pick Bob from accounting if Bob from accounting is an eccentric millionaire who is only working there becuase he likes working with numbers becuase he has the power to retaliate and can afford to escalate the issue further than you can.

Or, using superpowers as an example: Everybody says that teenagers are stupid, but seriously, how many sociopathic narcissistic asshats who get off on hurting or humiliating people weaker than them would seriously decide to harass the kid who can breathe fire and control the weather?
