I mean, she doesn't have to. And sh usually doesn't.

the only time she's been depicted as wearing actual clothing clothes is in an issue of Hickman's X-Men where she's getting dressed after being resurrected after dying on an infiltration mission... As a subtle snub. She was doing the missions in exchange for a promise that eventually they'd resurrect Irene Adler, with the implication being that Mystique(despite literally being part of the governing body) can't let herself be part of Krakoa until they do.

(As part of Krakoa's status as a safe haven for all mutants, they trying to form a distinct mutant cultural identity that everyone who lives on the island can share in despite coming from different home nations or walks of life and for some reason they decided that this should include a degree of sexual liberation and shunning of the idea of shame and modesty.)

Yeah, that's in every second rate Mary Suetopia these days. I wouldn't mind so much, but there's generally a distinct lack of people in multiple long term relationships.

Also an attempt to create a different idea of modesty makes sense when you realise that some mutants will have trouble with normal human clothing. Although let's be honest, it's going to take a generation or twelve.

Uh... Not as much as you'd think.

One of Marvel's running gags is that most superhumans—especially mutants—don't really give a crap about nudity or sexuality.

It's somekind of Zeitgiest. You become superhuman and you just kind of forget about shame. (This also applies to people who spend a lot of time around superhumans.)

A forum post I made on another board got liked recently, which led me to reread some things I wrote a while back and a little under a year ago I wrote out a detailed treatise on why Alice would be an approaite Persona for Harry in a Harry Potter/Shin Megami Tensei fusion or crossover story.

This completly slipped my mind until I saw it again.

    I think I need help.

Is it any more ridiculous and terrible than 20 years of the X-men consistently failing to make lasting gains while constantly being the victims of multiple genocide attempts by both government and non-government groups?

Continued genocide attempts are surprisingly good at stopping progress.

I think we can extend that to most major American superhero comics.

EDIT: yeah, as Channel 4 discovered a show with at least 14 naked people every week does surprisingly well.

    Social constructs still exist.

    2. I mean it kinda depends on the shapeshifter, because shapeshifter is a very broad concept like in general. the "turn into anything" shapeshifter is actually an incredibly powerful ability, like if used smartly it could literally make you invincible because if you know all the forms to counter everything else and are fast you can turn into whatever to solve the situation. so many shapeshifters are more limited than that to make sure they can't go "I have a form for that" and insta-win. like full potential no limits shapeshifting is something potentially near godlike. its why Beast Boy is limited to animal forms or Mystique is limited to disguising herself as people. like its great when you can see that kind of shapeshifting, but there is good reasons why it doesn't show up much.
Yeah I do agree with that. Warhammer 40K is goof ass satire and that's how it SHOULD be. If you try to treat it as a serious series, where everything matters, you have to truck with the fact that the two best factions morally are, as stated, horrifying xenophobic monsters, and gundam obsessed blue furries that maybe-mindcontrol everyone into obedience.

Okay fair, maybe shapeshifter was the wrong term to use last night regarding this topic, cause Mystique is very much a good shapeshifter character.

Granted, a good chunk of that is from secondary mutations.

Odo (and the Founders in general) did stuff like that. Except the healing thing, because they didn't really have tissue to be damaged so they didn't really need to heal.
