The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius

Tilly cuddled around Boots, with Kat trancing on a sitting position next to the sisters. The feys categorically refused to stay within the Tiny Hut- it was already painful enough as is, they didn't need the dry climate.

Boots nodded and closed her eyes.

Boots found Ethrindae real easy. She had been waiting for her.

The next morning, the feys groaned because ehw the jungle gets warm under the sun.

They were back in Boots’s room at the Fortress of Frozen Tears. Ice cut into snowflakes decorated the ceiling, and a purple veil shaded the long purple bed.
"Hi," Boots said, and kissed her. "There’s not much I want to do that doesn’t start and end in “E” right now, but I was hoping I could talk to you first… about today."

[Valmark]

"You married me because I keep you on track, didn't you?" Ethrindae chuckled and kissed Boots as well, then held her close as she looked around taking in the room.
"What happened?"

"Well, the Crimson Smile is one of four emotion spirits. Two are imprisoned, one we havefreed and he’s willing to help fight the darkrot. Another thing… is there was an ice fairy queen. She kept throwing herself at me and it was really hard to say no… but Alifa helped me and I managed. But why is it so hard?" Boots grabbed Eth in a snuggle.
"I just wish everything were easy."

[Valmark]

"Everybody does. And... It could be because you aren't used to refusing ice fairy queens that throw themselves at you" Ethrindae said "I have never heard of the Crimson Smile being a nature spirit, uh. Or there being three more like them" she frowned, and Boots saw that for a moment Ethrindae seemed to be struggling against something- as if trying to remember. Then her eyes glazed over, and she smiled at Boots seemingly having forgotten what she was thinking about.

"I wish I had anything in particular to recount, but aside from battling a bit we didn't accomplish much today. Yet. What I can do is show you that you don't need any lousy ice nymph" and Ethrindae kissed Boots again.

Boots rolled on top of Ethrindae, kissing her.

The next morning, the sisters were woken up by the ice feys lamenting the morning sun. The air was umid, which while it did mean they were relatively cool it also meant that the sun would heat it up and make it utterly uncomfortable to them.

Kat looked like she had seen a ghost.

Alifa frowned while everyone set up camp. What's wrong, Kat?

[Valmark]

I received a Sending Kat replied, staring ahead From my teacher. He told me to meet him at the Divine Peak- it's... A weird place for anybody who isn't a follower of the gods to be at. Especially after vanishing without the slightest warning.

[Xihirli]

Boots started trying to get horseshoes onto her hyena.

Where is the Divine Peak? Can you tell me more about it?

[Valmark]

When Boots opened the Hole to grab the Horseshoes, she noticed there was also... Something else.
The Crimson Smile had left a crapton of buttons with all smiley faces in her Portable Hole, it wasn't clear if as a joke or 'cause they were magical.

It would take a bit of rummaging, but Boots could retrieve the Horseshoes just fine.

It is a tall mountain where the gods are allowed to speak to us directly- or so goes the legend. It used to be a place of pilgrimage for the devoted and divine champions of old -nearly all seeking to receive word from their own god- but travels stopped as the warriors strong enough to go there died off and nobody emerged capable of braving it. That and the fact that followers of all gods went there, which meant that many ended up killing each other because their gods were enemies and stuff like that. Kat meanwhile continued her conversation with Alifa.

Hm. Well, it sounds like a place we could head to. Do you know where it is?

Boots had Tilly stand on the horseshoes with her hyena feet and frowned.
"I don't think this is going to work."

[Valmark]

As Tilly stood on the Horseshoes, the items mutated to fit her multifingered paws- she now stood on metal-plated feet, tentatively tapping the ground.
They feel so weird.

I'm gonna go ahead and rule that it's fine as long as Tilly stays in a quadrupedal form.

Roughly. I think I might be able to get there- but... Are you sure it's important enough compared to... Everything else going on? It's not exactly behind the corner.

If your teacher is contacting gods, maybe he's found a few willing to help. If your gods are anything like ours, who grow more powerful with more worship, they have reason to end the Darkling threat as well. As interesting as getting a devil of the hells on our side would be, it is incredibly dangerous to do so and has a small chance of success. I would rather not go in the hells unless I have a way out. And we don't have one yet. I'm close, but I just don't understand the magic well enough yet.

"But are you faster in them?" Boots asked her hyena.
"We'd better get going. Daylight's burning."

[Valmark]

Very well. Though let's first bring the feys to their new home, right? Kathleyîënis smiled at Alifa.

Race you! and Tilly rocketed off, clearly faster... Well, tecnically she had never been a hyena, but Boots could roughly tell they weren't normally that fast. Then Tilly came back.

Sorry, I was excited to try them out. They work!

The merry band of... Well, the feys weren't really that many, around fourty excluding the elementals Yuki controlled. Which was still impressive given where they used to live.

The merry band of fourty something people reached and crossed over into the Swamps.
It took all of one second before they could swear they saw one of the swamp trees lick their lips- which was disturbing even before realizing the trees had lips.

"I'm scared" One of the feys, a little kid with ice skin, murmured- the adults moved him and the other children within the group, with the elementals shielding the sides and rear protecting the adults as well.

"Listen up!" Boots yelled to the trees. "These Fey are under the protection of me. Clephesia, Scion Unseelie. First of my name. Princess Heir to the Winter Court. I would love to walk through this swamp with all of these fey. But if I have to cut through, I will. But every one of my companions is making it out of this swamp."

Alifa, seeing that there may be a fight, reached out to the water under the swamps, churning it up and spinning it into a two-armed shape of a standing whirlpool.
"Unappeased Soul placed aboard the Ark. Arise from the abyss so deep not even light can reach it! Wash away my foes. Advent, Ocean Wave!"
And a water elemental churned up, ready to fight.

Alifa's summons are legit the third scariest thing of this game.

The swamp trees were extremely still. It wasn't cleaf if they had gotten message, but it surely looked like they weren't making a move.

"Wedge formation," Boots said. "Fey in the middle."
And with the elementals as the front line and the sisters to either side, they led their way into the swamp, straight as they could to get out of it.

"So what's the water one's name?"
"Doesn't have one yet."
"Hmm... what does he remind you of? You know... dripping wet."
"I don't know about a myriad of sex toys like you do."
"Perfect!"
"What?"
"'A Myriad of Sex Toys.' That's his name."
"...Amir for short."
"Let's go, Amir!"

Alifa could be fairly sure she heard a wistful sigh coming from somewhere off to her right, but otherwise nobody seemed to attack them.

Crossing over to Lucilla's Territory, they were soon neared by a Krith-i-kâ which... Looked kind-of familiar to Alifa? It was greener then other Krith-i-kâ they had met with a light blue hue to it, and looked thinner then others but with an oversized back of the head.
It was flanked by a pair of queensguards.

Hi, Princess Clephesia, Great Dreamer it chittered telepathically Our Queen wishes to speak with you at your earliest convinience.
Then it glanced at the mothmen and added Queen Krinna, not Queen Lucilla.

"Who's Queen Krinna?" Yuki looked puzzled.
"And who're these?" one of the mothmen which had recognized the sisters but obviously not the feys asked.

[Xihirli]

"Krinna is a queen of a hive of insectoids. They’ve taken up residence in Lucilla’s territory."
"We’re bringing these displaced fey to a new home. Then we’ll come back, okay? We don’t want to make them wait to get to cold climates."
"We were planning on coming back anyway, to try to destroy a corrupted dagger."

[Valmark]

The mothmen looked to one another, then nodded and stood aside with the Krith-i-kâ to let them pass.
We'll be waiting.

Yuki whispered to Alifa "But she isn't really a Queen right? Or... Even a fey" she gave the bug-like creature a perplexed look.

[Xihirli]

"She’s in charge of a bunch of people. Call it whatever you want." Boots led them on after a polite bow.
"She’s not from faerie, no. But she’s shaping up to be a reliable ally."

[Valmark]

"But isn't a Queen" Yuki insisted fairly hung up on the topic.

Nobody but Lucilla has called Krinna a Queen aside from her own people, so you can expect the feys to be a good deal against the idea.

The traveling wasn't quite as fast as it normally was with only the three of them, but they still made good time on crossing the Crossing. They met the deer druid again, who assured safe passage to the group along the notes of WE ARE THE FUNGIIIII then after a short while some feys started demanding a rest- it wasn't far from the night.

At about that time Alifa noticed something shifting and stirring within her non-dimensional bags.

"Fine, sit down," Alifa said, and she looked into her shifting bag.

"I would have thought you’d be in a hurry to get to the cold," Boots said.

Yeah you are. You're in the Inner Lands now, a couple days away from the mountains on normal speed.

"But we can't keep moving if we're tired" Yuki said as a spokeperson, and gestured to the kids "Especially them"

Alifa opened up the bag and there was a puff of black spores which... Didn't even make her wheeze, only barely made her nose itch. A giggling Champignon Noir fey poked its head out, seemingly having been eating through her vegan rations. Well... More like nibbling, it was too small to make an actual impact.
