Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
"In that case- Taklogark can probably smuggle us into their plane. The dragons are being invaded as we speak, and we might not be able to do a difference- after all, it seems a strong enough force to put them on the defensive" Fig said "Understand this- it's unlikely the dragons that fled our world will thank us. They probably will refuse to help our world even if we help theirs- they fled to get away from all this, and are prideful, stubborn fools with the young like the kid here being the closest it gets to an exception. In addition, if the darklings are invading them it means they have an army, an army that is probably busy there and not on here- this might just be an occasion to attack the Zone. Knowing this, you're still willing to risk your lives?"
Kat took a deep breath.
"Leaving them be means we will have a worst enemy to fight against, and we can't exactly launch a surprise assault with an army that knows nothing about it. I'm in"
"Yeah, let's go. They're like family after all! Let me get my people, even if it'd take too long to get anybody else" Aragona turned around and hurried to her people, barking out orders as she mobilitized the tribe of always ready barbarians.

"Unless this Ethrindae gets here in the next few minutes I don't plan on waiting for long" Figrikhariz said "And... Well, pretty soon. I'm not welcomed in their plane, nor are you- we stop the darklings or fail to do so, then get out"
The dragoness thought about it and added "Since you're here, Send to Serendipity for me please. I know she can be here with a couple allies in a minute"

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
"Well, that's one old thing" Figrikhariz whistled "It's what keeps the gods from battling it out, essentially. It's a divine contract that forbid gods from entering this world and from attacking other gods' planes. If you do any of that, you've suddenly allowed all your enemy gods to come after you"
"It's why someone like Abadaius can't just walk up to us and disintegrate us, nor can his extraplanar followers without being summoned first, nor can evil gods cause trouble themselves and probably why the Crimson Smile can hang around our world"
"And also why no god can help heal this world. The Truce Pact it's as good as it's bad" Figrikhariz lowered her head with a pained expression.
"Three gods broke it when the Dark War happened to aid us. All three of them were killed by those they thought allies, followers of other gods or madpeople with an agenda... Or really scared dragons. Since then no god lifted a finger against the darklings- all scared that trying to do it will see them killed by their own enemies. Hell, no god lifted a finger period. Well, except through various clerics and all that"Last edited by Valmark; 2021-12-08 at 09:09 PM.

"So no gods have ordered their followers to cleanse the darkrot?" Alifa confirmed.

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
"I wouldn't know that"
"Well, they kinda have and haven't" Kat spoke up "As far as Goenna and Ilturiel, who is essentially the god of elves as a whole, are concerned, their followers are enemies of the darkling. Between that and actually being capable enough to fight the corruption there's an abyss, though. Fighting the occasional darkling or healing corruption is a thing most clerics can help do- standing at the frontline requires a lot more skill and courage. Can't speak for other gods, as those two are the only main religions in my homelands, but I'd expect a similar rule"
After a brief moment Kat added "Right, Tooru as well. His clerics just love breaking stuff, it's not hard to predict their stance on this"

Kat shrugged. The dragoness thought about it, then shrugged as well.
"They shouldn't. Well, except Tooru. But I don't think any of them would trust the others not to backstab them"
"Tooru's the god of war" Kat quickly added "He's no friend of the darklings, nor is he evil, but their existence alone leads to violence and that's like a prayer to him. He'd have a reason to keep everybody and the darklings in a state of continuous fighting"

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
"Why thank you" the lich stepped forth through a portal together with the Vassal they had seen the last time, with the sickle and chain- with them, seven dead angels teleported, their faces currently being eaten by worms and their eyes missing replaced with red malevolent lights. Their torsos were crashed, the armor collapsed on itself only barely showing the old symbol of Abadaius, and their body parts seemed to mostly float next to each other rather then being still attached.
"Seren" the dragoness smiled and stepped forth, lowering her neck until she touched Serendipity's forehead with hers. The lich offered a smile, closing her eyes.
"So, what about your new friends?"
"My friends here are a bit more manpower- but they're mostly to piss off Abadaius. Has Figrikhariz explained the Truce Pact to you?"
Kat nodded.
"Abadaius will be able to send his forces directly to us if we enter the dragon's plane" Serendipity explained "As long as he only directs them against us or the darklings. I hope to provoke him into attacking us by parading his undead angels next to the mortals he hates so much. My goddess hates him more then she hates the dragons- if he strikes I'll be allowed to open a Gate for her angels to filter in, who can fight darklings as well as Abadaius' forces- well, at least buy us enough time to actually do something"
"She hates the dragons?"
"They killed the god she dated, of course she does"
"But it was three hundred years ago!"
"I don't need a working heart to know that's not a good excuse"Last edited by Valmark; 2021-12-09 at 08:33 AM.

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
"Shouldn't be hard. He's kind of a ****, nobody likes Abadaius"
"I wonder who's desire created him"
Figrikhariz turned to Taklogark.
"Ready. Open a portal"
"Great. Let's... Go..." the young dragon tried standing, but it's pained groaning caused Figrikhariz to push him back down "You aren't coming" "But..." "You're too wounded and I'll be damned before I let you walk into your grave like this, kid"
With a strained pant, the yellow dragon breathed in and let out a lightning bolt- it hit the base of a rocky growing and blasted it open, leaving a crackling portal through which multiple roars could be heard together with the sound of fighting.
"Through it. Go!" and with a roar the dragoness charged through, followed by Aragona leading her barbarian warriors and a much calmer Serendipity strolling into it with her smaller posse of undead warriors.
Kathleyîënis took a deep breath and looked at Boots and Alifa. Now that she could actually hear the sound of fighting she seemed a little scared.

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
Kathleyîënis entered last.
Crossing over, they found themselves over a rocky hilltop of red stone, and the sky was lit by a costant rainbow-like pattern with an element for each stripe. Looking down, they saw a vast world with deserts encircled by forests, rivers running through them and mountains projected out of the ground so cold that they seemed almost made out of ice with volcanoes very close to them- it essentially looked like a random assortment of various dragons' natural habitats.
Overlooking it all stood a floating castle of white marble, with banners draping over the sides depicting five dragon heads put in a star around two more heads- the central ones were gold and red, and surrounding them there were a bronze, copper, brass, white, and black heads.
The place would've looked like a cool paradise if it wasn't for the ugly black scar that had torn apart the ground. Monstrous darklings poured forth from the gaping wound, coming in all shapes and sizes, and immediately engaged the dragons that surrounded the scar- it wasn't an orderly fight, instead being more like hundreds of skirmishes all along the ground and in the air with metallic and cromatics (and a bunch more dragons that didn't seem to fit neatly) fighting side-by-side against the darklings.
While many of the dragons seemed to fight just fine against the mass of darklings, the sheer number of the invaders looked overwhelming- many younger dragons also didn't have the fighting prowess the older ones had, and when a dragon fell it was either finished or dragged into the portal back to wherever the darklings came from, sometimes both.
In addition, there were two darklings that looked quite a good deal bigger- a giant worm with multiple, red eyes had two dragons coiled in its spires that flailed angrily as they got crushed, and what looked like a darkling that had been a dragon once was engaging a bunch more- it didn't look too strong, but its breath left jet black veins on its enemies as it spread corruption at a terrifying rate. Some dragons were aiding it, evidently having been corrupted on the battlefield and immediately turned against their bretheren.
Engaging the two colossi were two dragons that seemed THAT much bigger then the others- a white and silver dragons, who had two shining circles around their heads. Another similarly oversized dragon, a black one, was being thrown into the portal as the sisters entered the plane.
There seemed to be a tiny, humanoid figure overlooking the gap the darklings were coming from.Last edited by Valmark; 2021-12-09 at 01:19 PM.

Spoiler: Initiative order- DDD
- Serendipity
- Boots
- Vassal
- Undeads
- Ximmer
For ease on myself we'll say DDD's, Dragon God's, the Vassal's and the lichess' legendary action nullify each other.
From afar, they saw the Darkling Dragon tackle the bigger dragon into the ground, plunging its fangs into the other's neck- black veins spread out, it clawing and scratching trying to get the other off.
The dragons helping their leader tried intervening, but more darklings made that impossible- Serendipity turned to Boots and tapped her forehead, granting her a glimpse of the future before entering the portal.
Spoiler: Ooc
Foresight on Boots. Battlefield information:
The Arcane Gate is 10 feet in front of Boots, and the two combatants are 120 feet away from where she'd appear (or 630 feet away from her current position).
This said, until you get within 30 feet it's difficult terrain unless you can fly- all around you there's fighting, which makes it hard to just run up to the enemy.
Ximmer, which you don't yet know by that name but whatever, seems heavily injured- still a dragon and a powerful one at that, so between heavily injured and dead there's some leeway. Still, it doesn't look like he can take a beating.

The dragon though was well in the fight- it regarded Boots and said something in Draconic she didn't quite catch, then turned around and let out a breath of ice shards that teared the other dragon's flesh apart- it seemed weirdly fragile right now.

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
While Boots' magic didn't find its target the undead angels swarmed the darkling and repeatedly plunged their blades into it- cutting out huge chunks with their magical blades which had homewever lost a lot of their power, the white dragon rose to its full might when Boots cleansed it.
It seemed to be able to regenerate as its body started purging the sign of corruption, and with a reinvigored roar it pounced on the darkling. Knocking it down, the dragon declared something in Draconic and lifted its claw, then brought it down plunging them into the darkling's neck and tearing it open- with a second swipe, it severed the head clean off.
Spoiler: OocDead.
It was at about that time that a portal opened only a bit above their heads- stepping forth, a squadron of a dozen four-winged angels with scarlet wings carrying the insignia of Abadaius aimed their blades at Boots and the undeads.
Death to the enemies of Abadaius felt Boots in her head.
"This is it? I can't summon my goddess' soldiers for this little amount" Serendipity scoffed and lifted her staff. A green circle surrounded the bunch of angels, and suddenly the screams of a thousand ghosts assaulted their brains.
Spoiler: Ooc
Alright, there are twelve angels. The DDD is dead.
Those that won initiative will attack their undead bretheren- which means there are seven of them engaged in battle with the minions, and five that are hovering twenty or so feet above Boots.

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
The darkling-ish dragon that's fighting the other seemed to be as slippery as an eel, but ultimately Boots managed to shove the diamond dust on its infected body. It screamed and flailed in pain as the skin fell off of it together with big chunks of its body, and the creature now back to being a dragon slumped on the ground, wheezing as it died.
Spoiler: Ooc
It's gonna die next round. Mmm... Nah, Serendipity couldn't care less about a random extraplanar dragon, not gonna heal it. She only likes some specific dragons.
Four angels swirled around and flew into the lich and her knight's faces, engaging the undeads as a single one landed in front of Boots.
He said something in Celestial, then frowned and Boots heard his voice in her mind.
You escaped Dharma and Serael, but you won't escape I, Loreal!
And he went in for the swing, a globe of light appearing in one of his hands.
Spoiler: OocI'll roll the battle around Boots in private while you fight this angel, unless you plan on ignoring this guy and going for others- the other eleven angels are engaging the undeads.

And it's gonna do something you're familiar with. Crush the Light
Boots needs to make a DC 17 Con save to halve (5d10)[19] radiant damage.
It's already a bit wounded from Serendipity's AoE.
Your turn.

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
Boots brought out Sune's lips to kiss at the back of the angel's neck while her whip came out.
"I didn't escape anything. I killed your friends, and you're next."

Re: The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius
Killed? Plea- what sorcery is this!? the angel tried swatting Sune's face aside with obvious lack of effectivness as the smooch burned him up- and then two whip slashes found purchase, scraping some of his skin off with the mithril blades.
As I was saying, Dharma was merely fighting you through a loyal follower and you ran from Serael. I will succeed where others have failed.
And he went after Boots with his sword, trying to cut her up even as the houri predicted where the blade would go.
Spoiler: Ooc
Let's see... With that failed Circle of Death save from before he's at 80~ damage received. Not enough to start healing.
