[IC] The Cult of Brannulv, Chapter 2

[Valmark]

Thinking about it, Ghiso went back to look in the previous room as he had the vague remembrance of a dagger being there. If he found the sacrificial dagger he would take it and bring it back to the decanter room to try it in the spot Zarron found.

Also the potions. Not trying those though.

[Zergrinch]

" My dagger won't fit in this slot," Zarron announced. " What do you think this hole is for, Mr. Imrin sir?"

[Izzarra]

Zarron finds that the slot for the dagger is too narrow for the fighting blade he brought.

Going back to the central room Ghiso finds that the doors have been closed while everyone was busy with the fight, but there are no signs of what might have closed them.

The blade of the jeweled dagger is shaped more like that of a farm workers knife rather then for fighting and slides into the slot with a click. You can hear water flowing and slowly the floor begins to rise back up until it gets stuck about half way with the magical staff that Lana dropped jamming the mechanisms.

[Fay]

"Hey, I'm going to go return to the circular room and maybe investigate another passage, does anyone want to come with me?" Rose said, voice still a bit shaky.

[Xihirli]

Lana frowned down at the staff. "All the hands are gone, right? I can go get that."

Also there's water there, right? I can swim?

[Zergrinch]

Zarron takes out his length of silk rope. "Miss Lana, if you're going to get the staff, please tie this around your waist. That way we can pull you up if you slip."

"Maybe Miss Taara can accompany you, Miss Rose?"

[Xihirli]

Lana tied the rope around her waist. "Thank you, sweetie." She kissed Zarron on the cheek and went down to retrieve the staff.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron looks nervously in Taara's direction before grabbing hold of the rope and offering a length to Ghiso to hold. He, Zarron, would probably be too weak to actually pull her up should something happen.

Taara sees Zarron helping Lana and pulls him away, roughly shoving him into Rose with a glare before going to help Lana.

Taara will summon her arms immediately if something happens to Lana. They have a +6 to athletics.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron brushes himself off while eyeing Taara warily. "Um, I guess I can go with you Miss Rose?" He scampers out of the room towards the circular room.

Perception: (1d20+6)[17]. Do I notice the closed doors?

[Xihirli]

Lana pulled on the staff but it didn't move.
"Can we turn off the thing that's moving it? Or reverse it?" She called up. "I can't pull this out!"

[Izzarra]

Doubling back to the circular room Rose spots a feint light back near the entrance of the crypt.

[Valmark]

Looking down at the dagger Ghiso hummed and tried pulling the knife out to see if the platforms fell back down into the water.
"On it"

[Fay]

Rose tensed up at the sight of the light, then slowly started to turn around, cast one more glance at it and walked back to the room between the circular room and the room with the hands.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron sticks together with Rose, completely unwilling to confront whatever was creating the spooky light without the full party tanking for him.

[Izzarra]

After Ghiso pulls the knife the floor falls back down leaving Lana dangling from the rope with the staff.

[Xihirli]

"I got it!" Lana called. "Haul me up!"

[Valmark]

Ghiso deliberated for a second, then started pulling Lana up and only after she was safe with the staff he put the dagger back into the slot.

[Izzarra]

Once Lana is pulled back up again and the blade is returned to the slot the floor slowly lifts back into place. It is safe to walk on and you are able to retrieve the decanter without any further trouble.

[Valmark]

"Perfect" Ghiso said, retrieving the decanter "Let's regroup with the others"

He also fetched the cerimonial dagger before leaving. Could be useful.

When he joined back with Zarron and Rose Ghiso asked "Found anything?"

[Zergrinch]

"Um... There's an eerie light by the entrance, Mr. Ghiso," Zarron points to the entrance where he saw it.

[Fay]

"I don't know what it is but it's a strange blueish colour, so likely not a candle or lantern. I don't trust it." Rose's eyes were flitting around the room as if expecting something to emerge from the shadows at any moment.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron combines the four dancing lights to form a vague outline of himself walking around, trying to bait an attack from whatever is making the spooky lights.

[Xihirli]

"I feel like we made that a lot harder than it had to be," Lana thought out loud about the hurdles they had just overcome.

[Izzarra]

The blue green light that was in the entrance room fades as the dancing lights head into the entrance room.

[Zergrinch]

"Huh," Zarron says as the crude simulacrum of himself was allowed to prance by unmolested. " Maybe it's nothing. Let's go check the other rooms for Muffin."

[Fay]

"Hmm, yeah. We can always check out the light later." Rose said as she moved towards the door to the east. She does not open it yet.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron creeps besides Rose and tries to peer through the cracks. Does he see anything?

[Izzarra]

As Rose and Zarron approach the door they hear a maddening babble coming from the next room.

Rose and Zarron need to make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save take 14 psychic damage and become stunned until the end of your next turn. On successful save take half damage.

[Zergrinch]

WIS save: (1d20+2)[15]

Zarron freezes for a moment and a trickle of blood flows down his nose. He glances to the side to check if Rose is similarly affected.

"Voices... Can't concentrate. It's... maddening..." he grits his teeth. Despite every ounce of his body telling him it's a bad idea, he peeks through the crack, hands cupped around his pointy ears.
