[IC] The Cult of Brannulv, Chapter 2

"I believe we have not hidden well" Ghiso strode out of his hidey hole and unsheated his sword, cutting into the next skeleton without much tecnique. It... Was kinda hard to think of spots where a sword would hurt more when the enemy seemed to be a mindless skeleton.

Taara ducked under the skeletons and swept a leg to trip the skelingtons. Then she dove forward to grab hold of a vertibrae and pull.

Lana ran up to the other skeleton and wiggled her shield threateningly.

Lana will Help Rose hit the skeleton.

[Fay]

Rose stood ready for whatever was moving around in the darkness to approach. However, as the seconds slithered by and nothing emerged from the blackness, she lost focus and her half-formed spell dissipated. It was at roughly that moment she could vaguely make out Lana and a skeleton as the sounds of combat began. Swinging her halberd at the skeleton, Rose hoped to eliminate the threat before the floating skull returned.

Swing halberd (1d20+5)[13] to hit (Advantage from Lana's help action: (1d20+5)[15]), dealing (1d10+3)[10] damage on a hit, rerolled to (1d10+3)[11] on a 1 or 2 (so 4 or 5 total)

Bashing with the other hand right in that skeleton's forehead: (1d20+5)[7], dealing (1d4+3)[4] damage on a hit.

Zarron peeks between the doors and sees the light of the flame skull moving about in the room.

Everyone else is able to make short work of the two skeletons.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron continues to observe the skull's movements, trying to ascertain if it has a specific pattern.

He will keep observing the skull, although he will beat a hasty retreat if it looks like it might be exiting through the door he is peeking through.

[Izzarra]

After spending a few moments observing the flame skull, Zarron discovers that it is waking the wraiths back up.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron continues to observe the skull and its activities, backing away back to the circular room only if the skull or the wraiths are heading towards his direction.

[Izzarra]

Zarron is not able to get an idea of what the wraiths are doing before the flame skull begins heading straight towards the door he is looking through.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron springs to his feet and dashes to a niche in the circular room with cover from the direction he came from.

OOC: Move to BC26.

Lana shook her head. "This is ridiculous. We don’t even know if Zarron is still alive. We should stick together."
She turned to Ghiso and Rose.
"We’re going after him."

[Valmark]

"We don't even know where he is, admittedly" Ghiso pointed out, nonetheless advancing to the circular room to check if all the doors were closed there at least. And because that was where the flameskull had been last as far as he knew.

[Izzarra]

Zarron and Ghiso see the flame skull arrive in the doorway of the circular room.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron continues to monitor the situation, ready to intervene at a moment's notice. What will Ghiso do? And how will the skull react to it? His heart starts thumping with dreaded anticipation.

[Valmark]

Seeing as he was (apparently) alone in the room, Ghiso decided that he wasn't about to try and fight the flameskull off- especially since he knew it didn't chase outside of the crypt.

He hurried back to the rest of the group hoping the flameskull was going to close the door and be on its way.

"Could not find Zarron, but I did find the flying skull. Unsure if we are being chased right now"

Ghiso wasn't willing to fight alone earlier, he ain't willing now. Dashing away!

[Xihirli]

"Alright, let's head towards it. Together!" Lana said. "We can handle it, just scatter so it can't fireball us."

[Izzarra]

The flame skull flies after Ghiso and looses Scorching Ray at Ghiso, Rose, and Taara.

Back in the entrance room the wraiths open the doors and come through. One of them strikes Imrin with a morningstar. Imrin responds with a swing of a warhammer that gets deflected by the wraith's shield.

18 to hit Rose for 11 fire damage.

Imrin takes 5 Damage.

Zarron creeps behind the skull's wake, trying to spot an opening that he can capitalize on.

Move: Move to BF32.
Delaying further action.

[Valmark]

"Well, I suppose we can't back off again" Ghiso turned back towards the flameskull while the rest of the group engaged the wraiths "Maybe it's not smart enough to not be distracted?"

Lightning crackled around his hand, and he threw it at the flameskull- sizing it within the spires, Ghiso yanked it to the ground.

Reaction: Absorb Elements.

He then moves 30 feet back towards the Flameskull and uses Lightning Lure.
The flameskull needs to make a DC 14 Strenght saving throw or be pulled down next to Ghiso and take (1d8)[1] lightning damage.

Also, Second Wind (1d10+2)[3]

Lana steps up and points to the flameskull. A shining of silvery moonlight descends upon the undead and scalds into it. Lana presses her hands to her heart and shines out an aura of beluga.

Taara ducks under the fire and swings up with a whack with her staff. Then she lashes out with TWO kicks.

Alright, Taara will run to the OTHER side of the flameskull to stay out of fireball formation.

Lana will MOONBEAM all over the flameskull and give everyone 9 temp hp.
It must make a CON save to halve (2d10)[7] radiant damage.

As the others start to unload on the skull, Zarron decides to abandon the ill-conceived plan, and attack the flameskull when the right time comes.

Action: Ready Lv 1 spell: Id Insinuation. Flameskull must succeed on DC14 WIS save or be incapacitated (can't take actions or reactions). At the end of its turns, it takes (1d12)[4] psychic damage and then it can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the spell ends.

Trigger: The Skull starts to attack, or attempts to cast an attacking spell. My intent here is to interrupt whatever it's doing, without including myself in its list of targets

Stumbling in the darkness Rose hears - can maybe barely make out the outlines of - some sort of spectral foes. Calling on more violet energies she unleashes another blast of petals and light.

Rose attacks Wraith 1 with Eldritch blast at disadvantage.

(1d20+5)[8] or (1d20+5)[15] to hit, whichever is lower. If the blast does hit, it will deal (1d10+3)[11] force damage.

Taara runs over to get into position to attack the skull.

Ghiso's spell pulls the flameskull down then he and Zarron see the flameskull begin to act. Zarron casts his spell but the skull shakes it off. A mote of flame drops from the flameskull to the ground and erupts into a giant ball of flame that engulfs everyone in the area.

One wraith steps forward an swings at Lana with a morningstar.

Imrin and one of the wraiths are going at it but are unable to land a blow.

Rose cannot clearly make out the wraith in the dim light and is unable to hit it with her spell.

Taara has to dash to get to the other side of the flameskull and when she gets there the skull is out of reach of melee so there is no way to have made any of those attacks.
18 to hit Lana for 9 damage. Make a save to maintain concentration on moonbeam.
Falmeskull dropped a fireball. Ghiso, Taara, Zarron are in the spell area. DC 13 Dexterity or take (8d6)[35] damage.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron gets his face filleted by fiery flames as the floating face flings a fierce fireball. He miraculously turns his body at the last minute, but still gets frightfully fried. (19 damage, assuming half damage on a save).

All tactical thoughts forgotten at his brush with fiery death, the young bard immediately, almost reflexively, casts his most damaging spell, designed to center around the skull and avoid hitting anybody else around him.

"Age, tonitru. Concute inimicos meos!"

Move behind cover.
Cast Shatter vs skull (don't hit Ghiso or Taara)
Skull must succeed on DC 14 CON save to halve (3d8)[16] thunder damage. A creature made of inorganic material such as stone, crystal, or metal has disadvantage on this saving throw.

Deciding that the magical skull is the bigger threat right now, Rose turns around and gathers up more violet energies to launch.

Taara, injured by the blaze but held up by the sweet whalesong filling her, presses the attack! The only way out of this for them now was putting the flameskull in the ground!

Taara sprouts astral arms and lands two blows on the skull.

Ghiso swings at the skull with the frost sword and lands a blow.

A thunderous boom reverberates through the crypt from Zarron's spell casing a coffin to turn to splinters before the stonework begins cracks and crumble. Taara is able to jump clear but Ghiso and the skull are buried as the doorway collapses.

The cloud of dust that spreads towards Rose interferes with her attempt to cast a spell.

A wraith continues after Lana with a morningstar but she is able to avoid the blow.

Imrin and the other wraith strike each other.

Ghiso does 6 damage to the flameskull, the extra cold damage doesn't have any effect.
Ghiso takes 9 damage from falling debris and is buried. He is Blind, Deaf, and Prone. He cannot move and has a limited supply of air.
Zarron and Taara don't know what happed to Ghiso. The doorway is now completely blocked.

[Zergrinch]

Zarron's eyes grow wild as he realizes that his rash actions may have doomed Ghiso. Adrenaline surges as he rushes through the side room to rejoin the rest of the party, calling out to Taara to come with as he does so.

(I figure I will not be there until the third turn, when I can act. This is Turn 1 of running.)

[Xihirli]

Lana gasped at the falling ceiling, but lifting her shield refocused on the wraith in her face. She pulled back on the moonlight to make it wash over the ghost trying to kill her.

Rose also attempted to help Lana defeat the wraiths.

Rose blasts Wraith 1 if it is still up, if it's dead to moonbeam she will target Wraith 2.

Zarron and Taara begin running through the side room to see what happened to Ghiso.

Rose's blast slips between a wraith and Imrin hitting the stairs.

Imrin and the wraith continue their fight, both landing blows.

The other wrath swings at Lana again with a morningstar.
