It's funny that English food is considered some of the worst national cuisines, because a (former?) close friend of mine will go out of his way to seek out any restaurant that serves English-style food. He particularly loves fish and chips.

There's little about his tastes that I can vouch for, but apparently English food does have its defenders.

Fish and chips is basically just beer-battered fish fillets and thick cut fries. It would be difficult to mess either one of those up and you don't even particularly need spices for either.

My wife and I went to a British restaurant last time we visited DC at my behest. For all that i like to dunk on them, there's more than enough tasty British cuisine to easily warrant a restaurant visit at the very least.

Besides a proper fish and chips, and a good pint (I am a Theakstons's fan, and a real ale proponent) a full English breakfast is not to be missed. Best one I recall was in the Lake District but as I dig through the memory, I can't remember the name of the place we stayed. The over indulgence in Theakston's products that week may have something to do with it.

And then there's roast beef with Yorkshire pudding.

I did read the books, twice, and i know everything about Tolkien's biography. I don't know english people but that's irrelevant because Tolkien's didn't inspire anything in people of this days, and I didn't live in his age.

Curious way of elaborating anyway, you just asked questions, that's definetly not elaborating XD

What do people think the difference is between what most people eat in England and what most people eat in USA? There might be a few types of food that are distinct (like corn/maize) but most of the foods are the same.

That’s only a perception. The reality is a big difference because what people eat in the USA depends on where they live much more - beans and beef in the mid south, catfish and so on elsewhere, clams elsewhere. Culturally monotony tends to be pushed by advertisers.
WRT takeaway food that obviously varies with the local immigrant populations and over time can become part of the mainstream.

I don't think light-hearted jokes about cuisine stereotypes really goes against the forum rules. If it crosses over into talking about politics or religion, or racism then it'd be a problem, or if the joke itself is particularly offensive. I wouldn't say these are that bad though?

Hm. Arrogant, overweight gun-toters are slow (because overweight), but have a range advantage (with the gun-toting and all that). After factoring the arrogance in, I think your chances of survival would… Exist?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_cuisine

You seem to be quite confident for how incorrect you are. At least, regarding national foods/foods relatively native to the area. American cuisine has a rather longost, largely helped by our great size as there are many regional cuisines. Which is to say, there's a bit more than just "corn/maize".

Unless you mean "what people eat on an every day basis", of course, but that would be an odd point to make as, to the best of my knowledge, nobody was taking about that.

Another thread sadly descended into the recent internet meme of bashing british people, culture, and cuisine as harshly and inaccurately as you possibly can without breaking whatever the local web rules are.
