Re: Little Trouble in Big Absalom; Game Thread
Yup-Tik - Kobold Cleric
One of the bug's bites gets through to pierce Yup-Tik's skin, but before the second one can gain purchase, Yup-Tik's protective ward triggers. A shimmering patch of giant silvery scales appears covering Yup-Tik's own smaller scaled hide. The beetle's attack is powerful enough to just barely break through the scales, but strength it uses to get past the magic leaves no force to actually hurt him.
Spoiler
Using Shield Block reaction to block one of the hits. The other one brings Yup-Tik's HP to 8 out of 14.

The two beetles bearing down on Yup-Tik buzz their wings loudly, possibly in an attempt to look more threatening.

Re: Little Trouble in Big Absalom; Game Thread
Yup-Tik seems frozen, as if keeping watch against the beetles around him.
Smoke's Bolt flies true, hitting the remaining glowing beetle squarely in the thorax. It half whirls around in surprise, before deciding to make a hasty retreat. Wugga is less lucky, his stone bouncing harmlessly off the wall behind the beds.
The beetle hit by smoke decides to join its fellow back under the sheets, having given up on repelling the intruders. The light in the room dimsa a bit, as the only beetles still fighting have
The beetle by Jzarko doesn't seem to like the heat. It strikes at him again missing both times, before attempting to move back away.
Spoiler: OOCOne beetle strides twice and hides. It does not take the +4 from Smoke's Dex modifer, because the system does not add dex to damage rolls using ranged weaons.
Other beetle's attacks: (1d20+8)[9] for (1d4+1)[2] and (1d20+4)[7] for (1d4+1)[4], before stepping back.
Spoiler: InitiativeI'll allow Skya to roll for Jzarko's last turn if its up before I write the results of Yup-Tik's actions.
Otherwise:
- Yup-Tik is up again.
- In the Next block, beetle 3 is hidden and beetle 4 is by Yup-Tik.
- The last PC was Jzarko, Smoke, and Wugga. It will go again after the next NPC block. Jzarko and Smoke are still dazzled.
- In the Last block to go, beetle 1 is hidden and beetle 2 has just stepped away from Jzarko.

Yup-Tik - Kobold Cleric
Yup-Tik is definitely beginning to feel the pain from the bites he's endured. Deciding it is time to get serious, he draws his dagger. The last beetle fighting dodges both of Jzarko's attempts to bite it.

Wugga the Dog
Wugga kept his sling handy, but seeing the beetles run to hide, he shrugged to himself and began to look around the room for other potential loot-worthy items. Perhaps if they left the beetles alone, they could train them after a bit.
Wugga is not really into combat anymore and will only attack if the beetles emerge to attack them again. Otherwise, he wants to use the distraction to search for more goodies on the other side of the room.

Re: Little Trouble in Big Absalom; Game Thread
Smoke scores a critical hit with the bow, shattering one of the beetles legs. Probably could have killed the beetle if it has struck something more crucial. Nonetheless the beetle decides to flee back under the covers after taking the beating.
Spoiler: Image
After a short while, Smoke and Jzarko's vision clears and the group can continue exploring the room. With the rubble cleared and the beetles pacified they can pass to the west side of the room. This area is smaller and more bare than the section you entered. The are three doors to other rooms. One leads south, one leads west, and one leads north.
A thick line of mold reaches between the western and northern passages, seeming to pass through the cracks at the bottom of each door. The crack under the door facing south is dark. Otherwise, there isn't much else here.

Wugga the Dog
With the battle seemingly ended, Wugga put away his sling and approached the stack of crates with the others. He glanced up, eyes narrowing as he assessed what kinds of things could be in there. After a moment, he finally spoke, his voice soft and low. "Didja check dem allz? Iz dere more lootz?" Wugga will certainly help go through as many crates as they want/can. However, as soon as it seems there is little left of value in the stack, he will turn his attention to the mold and doors.

Re: Little Trouble in Big Absalom; Game Thread
Wugga finds (4d12+10)[48] in copper coins and some wooden figures. They look like stylized versions of various creatures, one of which is a white dragon. There's also a bronze rod with a snake wrapped around it and a box of potions. There's two healing potions and a gecko potion in the box, as well as a liquid on the bottom of the box that non one recognizes. It isn't clear if the liquid is multiple potions mixed together or just one that no one among the hookclaws knows how to make.

Yup-Tik, Kobold Cleric
Yup-Tik says a quiet prayer to Apsu, thanking him for delivering him safely from the threat of the bugs, and requesting further intercession in the form of healing. The kobold's form glows briefly with a silvery light, when the light dies away, the scrapes on Yup-Tik's arms are gone.
After helping the others go through the crates, Yup-Tik's curiousity returns to the beds. Standing several feet away to avoid reawakening the bugs, he leans his head down to the ground, relying on his keen darkvision to see if any good stuffs may have been left under the beds. When he stands up, he happens to glance behind him, noticing again the doors behind the pile of crates. "Doors back here, lots of mold. Anybody know about that stuff?"
Spoiler

Wugga the Dog
Wugga pocketed the coins and reached out to grab the wooden figures, then stopped. Concentrating for a moment, his eyes took on an otherworldly glow as he checked all the items for magical auras. Once that was done, he put anything mundane into the cart the group had brought, but kept the magic separate. After a pause and a glance at his companions, he spoke quietly again. "Found deez. Re: Little Trouble in Big Absalom; Game Thread
Yup-Tik can see a lot of dust under the beds as well as some large piles of beetle droppings. There doesn't appear to be anything of value underneath.
The potions appear to be magical, as is the liquid at the bottom of the box. Once intentionally ignoring all of these, Wugga still picks up something magical on the west side of the giant pile, but nothing on the east side.
Spoiler: OOCI think this is about as much information as I can reasonably provide before anyone picks a door to check out.

As Smoke approaches the north-facing door, she can see there's a round hole about three and a half feet off the ground and a round, rusty knob lying in the fungus below it. The sheer quantity of large mushrooms around the door might still make it a bit difficult to open but there's no lock or other security on it.

Re: Little Trouble in Big Absalom; Game Thread
Jzarko opens the door without much trouble, and there doesn't appear to be anything threatening around. The workbench has a light hammer, a set of artisan's tools (for woodworking), and a repair kit on it. Before Yup-Tik and Smoke can start searching the rest of the room though, there's a noise from the area between the three doors.
