I seem to remember, at least from 3.0 and certainly from 2e/1e that when found, magical dusts and powders came in XdX amounts of caertain number of pinches or uses. Did they just scrap that utterly in 3.5 and I am just now noticing?

From what I've seen, its gone. Now you just buy "doses" of powders and dusts.
