Darkhelm, drop your fire-whatsit." She glares at Drina. "Try it again, and I'll have Arthog rip your belly open and we'll use your guts to make showshoes."

Anything that can casually disperse a spell is far from helpless and that voice it spoke with was decidedly not the same as the remorseful child's spirit he had just spoken too. "It isn't defenseless." Although he is slow to do so he does coil himself into a fighting stance.

R2T20: Darkhelm hops up into the hut and moves towards the back, and gestures to bring down another ball of ash, but the doll dodges it.

R2T19: "Please, why are you trying to hurt me?" shouts the crone-voiced doll child. She looks at Moorgram, pleading, "Stop that creepy black-skinned mannequin creature, I beg you!"

R3T21: Moorgram continues to focus on the doll, hoping to learn what magics are at play.

R3T20: Darkhelm does some free-running looking activity where she steps at the wall to spring to the top of the chair to then spring up to the top of the back wall and pull herself up to balance. A ball of ash clips the doll, but doesn't harm it.

R3T19: "Please," she appeals to the big lady on the horse. "I haven't done anything wrong. Protect me!"

Lady Argentea looks like she's fighting against something and finally calls out, "Witch trickery!"

R3T11.5: Arthog moves around to the back wall, but can't do much more than that.

R3T11: Lady Argentea puts away her spear and shield. "Tenzei's right. It seeks to ensorcel us to unknown, but likely nefarious, end."

R3T9: Tenzei hops forward on to the abandoned chair, puffs out his cheeks, and exhales a burp's worth of emerald flame at the doll, but the flames curl around it and do not harm it.

R3T8: Ten-Penny, seeing her friend get attacked by fire, leaves Drina be for now, trudging through the snow and hopping up into the hut. She gives a command to Arthog. Meanwhile, she is still annoyed by the fact that the sticky resin from the previous frost fir encounter is still on her and bothering her.

R4T21: "Time to rest dear child." Moorgram intones as he steps towards the doll, glaring at it's mirrored eye.

The child-crone-doll laughs at Moorgram's attempt.

R4T20: Darkhelm carefully balances on the lip of the hut, nearly falling off, and then a ball of ash hits the doll for 1 mod blugeoning + 7 fire (2d6 burning)! The doll screams as it realizes it has caught fire.

R4T19: The doll takes 7 fire, but manages to put itself out.

R4T11.5: Arthog threatens Tenzei, who is NOT high up enough on a chair to matter.

R4T11: Lady Argentea fast dismounts and gets into a stance to help keep "her" soldiers' spirits up. From her position, she gives a mighty war cry that instills some vigor into Moogram, Darkhelm, Tenzei, Drina, and herself.

R5T21: Frustrated with the doll's resilience, Moorgram begins to intone some words. He lifts up his hand causing a shower of sparkling material to appear in a cloud around the doll.

R5T20: Darkhelm maintains her careful perch on the ruined roof, but the ash ball she directs bounces off of the doll.

R5T19: The doll drifts upwards 10' (height of 30' now) and then shouts down in its creepy old/young voice, "Oooh, I can play with the weather, too! My friend, get out of there!"

The wooden chair that Tenzei has an arm around starts to freeze. Tenzei quickly lets go, but that whole section of the interior of the hut suddenly becomes supernaturally cold ... much more than Darkhelm's collective protection can help with:

Despite being hurt by an attack having come from the doll, still Ten-Penny doesn't realize it and the charm is unbroken.

R5T9: Tenzei, you take 1 cold standing in this area, though you resisted what could have been more. What do you do?

R5T9: Unsure of what precisely possessed him to stand around tugging at a chair for several seconds that refuses to move when he intended to walk outside, Tenzei leaves the hut. Again. And walks around to the north, and with a tree that's right there, uses a combination of jumping and accelerated climbing to get on top of the patchy thatched roof. He is now on the main connection of thatched roof to wall, and really the wall is the only place he can go. He can instantly see that any attempt to go on the roof proper would be disastrous. It now makes sense why Darkhelm - whoe easily just pushed patch the thatching from below - is balancing carefully on the 6"-wide beam. It's enough that Tenzei is no longer in Dragon Style, and is peculiarly vulnerable should someone attack him.

R5T8: From inside the hut, Ten-Penny does something similar to what Darkhelm did - using the chair to sprinboard her through the roof and then carefully balancing .... right in front of Tenzei! "Stop! Don't hurt her!" she says to Tenzei.

R6T25: Drina backs away, drawing a circle with her foot as she chants. Once the circle is complete she lights a small white candle and sits it in the center, then uses it to light a small bag she pulls out of her pouch, her chanting continuing throughout.

R6T21: Moorgram sighs and draws and readies his sling. "I don't suppose setting the place on fire would be helpful," he grumbles as he watches the would be acrobats climbing all over the building.

R6T20.5: Arthog takes 3 cold as it finally decides to quit the frozen area.

R6T20: Darkhelm directs an ash ball to crack into the doll again for another 7 + 4 fire.

R6T19: The doll changes to an altitude of 40' now. Pointing her finger at Darkhelm, a bolt of super-frozen air hits Darkhelm in the left shoulder for 2 cold.

R6T11: Lady Argentea trudges a little closer and shoots, but the arrow shatters on impact.

R6T9: Seeing only retreat or bait as an option Tenzei beckoned to the doll. "Come and get it." He sets himself as best as he can and readies himself to wrestle the doll straight to the ground should it decide to ever come within arm's reach.

R6T8: Ten-Penny tries to trip Tenzei, and while it is completely a fail, Tenzei realizes that while balancing up here, he is unable to really do much dodging out of the way.

End Round 6, Begin Round 7 ...

R7T25.1: The winds whip around dramatically and the tiny votive candle exintinguishes. (The whole candle, not just the flame ... it disappears.) A high-pitched screeing noise is heard in the air. Drina points to something in air, and then towards the doll, calling for it to attack. An eagle with golden feathers swoops in, having flown a little higher than necessary for some height advantage, to attack the doll. But the doll must have fell witch powers indeed, for the eagle only ends up biting itself for 5 .... and then disappears from sight!

R7T25: Drina, your summons didn't even last three seconds before it was made to attack itself and go away. What do you do?

R7T21: With a curse of the thrice damned doll, Moorgram lets loose a sling stone with all his might. It barely clips her, but doesn't seem to do anything.

R8T20: Darkhelm brings another ash-ball down. This time it perfectly smashes into the dolly with a crit that obliterates the thing. Burning, it smashes into the chair with a flaming "whump" and starts a fire. Darkhelm deftly jumps down into the snow outside.

Ten-Penny, the odd nature of charms is such that you still feel the dolly was your friend, and allow whatever confusion to be RP'd .... and it is sad to see her killed like that, but there is no reason for me to bot soft aggression anymore.

Most of the day has been moving westwards, and in fact the hut of the soulbound guardian was a turn south. Now, the trail heads east as you turn away from the South Pass and being a descent into the Somir Valley. A cold wind blows through the valley, bringing a spray of sleet and broken ice. The sky ahead roils with thick, gray clouds and the sun is only a dim glow somewhere in the mist, now behind you as you turned east and it slowly tracks lower to the west.

Drina, you get a momentary sense of alarm, followed by heart-pounding terror.

R1T25: Tenzei yelps, "Watch out!" as he moves to intercede between Argentea and the thing. Gathering his feet beneath himself he fairly springs across the top of the snow in a low sweeping fist to strike the thing in the underside where the sternum is for 9.

R1T20: Drina trudges through the snow trying to get closer to the beast. She fires off two more bolts of force from her fingertips when she comes to a stop, and it hits the monster with two bolts of arcane force hard enough to drop it.

The monster is put out of its misery. Darkhelm mentions this was probably the beast that gave the doomed hunter trouble. A check of the giant weasel shows that it would've been a much tougher fight normally, but was put down relatively quickly because it had been previously wounded by a bear trap and a couple arrows from a hunter.
