Question Why Do Cats Destroy Christmas Trees

I notice there have been comic strips on the internet that cats destroy Christmas trees. Is there a particular reason why do cats destroy Christmas trees science-wise?

They like to climb things and sharpen their claws on trees. Christmas trees, which don't have roots, aren't sturdy enough to stand up to a cat.

Also, ornaments and lights are typically shiny and make interesting sounds when batted around, which makes them tempting cat toys. Doubly so once the cat realizes they aren't supposed to play with them.

All of the above plus the fact that a secure, happy cat will be fascinated by anything new in its territory and be compelled to explore it. And cats are unlikely to be trained to respond to humans' disapproval.

My wife and I got a kitten in July and he's a real troublemaker. We are expecting some real drama when the tree goes up this weekend.

Cats hate Xmas as it steals away their slaves focus from themselves.

    It's scientific fact.

But Xmas trees are palm trees decorated with lights, and not nearly as enticing for cats. The standard Xmas tradition of nudity might be, of course. And I think it goes without saying that one should never be outside after sundown on Xmas Eve.

Because cats are devil-spawn, and in league with the Grinch. Destroying Christmas trees, stealing food, killing songbirds... they're the archetypical party hater.

They are very cute and fluffy though, even when they do their thing.

Destroying things humans care about is like catnip for cats.

That rug you paid a lot for? Got puke on it.

That sofa you paid a lot for? Got scratch marks on it.

Those fish you keep in your aquarium? Now on the floor.

That mug your mom gave you as her last gift before she passed away? Swipe it off the table.

That nice restful sleep you're having 4 in the morning? Wake up to a cat biting your face.

That diet you're working on to lose weight? Find a mouse snack on the rug.

That sandbox you just cleaned? Has poop in it now.

Those friends you invited over to hang out with? The cat steals their attention and now they ignore you.
Black text is for sarcasm, also sincerity. You'll just have to read between the lines and infer from context like an animal
