Alhambra

Alhambra nods at Halie's clear assessment of their situation, and is about respond mentally when she remembers that...she can't. But that these unseen spirits, everything in the scenery around them, virtually screams magic. Boatloads of it. Intriguing. Once Burburi's question is addressed, Alhambra looks in the approximate direction of the last voice to speak.

"Thank you, Uinn and other friends. That does indeed sound entertaining. If I may add, since we've come here, we find ourselves cut off from some senses, some abilities. While this place, and your august selves, seem to be fully steeped in a world of magic. Would you know why and how this is? Or would telling us spoil the fun?"

If anyone heard Glue’s remark, no one commented upon it. The flora is beautiful though, even your cursory examination

Burburi

“Well,” says another voice, “The Mors does like to put folks in a jam, in fact, take a nibble of that purple fruit next to you, see how you like it.”

Not certain what to make of that suggestion, you reach into your store of knowledge to find what you know of this god. The Alfar are the Elves, Gnomes, Goblins and the fey in an alternate world. The knowledge is known to some scholars and others, like heroes, who have an interest in such things. Amadan Mors’ domain is mainly concerning that world, but in the celestial realm he will get involved in the affairs of other worlds if the chance arises.

Tuatha da Danaan is a pantheon in that realm roughly, but not completely, equivalent to the gods of the summer and winter court.

Halie

“Ah,” says a voice resonant and assured, “the way out, that can only be found through the Panes. It is there that the Mors has placed the path, though it is a long and dangerous trip."
Several journeys will be required, we can provide sustenance while those up and above can provide a more practical type of help. This is the extent, and you are safe here, if you mind your manners of course.”

The voice responds, “The reason your magics do not work in the hall is simple, it is for our, and your safety.”

Warren grunts at the vague explanation. His dry, deadpan voice follows on the heels of his grunt. "Don't suppose there is a map or written instructions on how to use these panes as an exit?" Flat eyes flickering to the scenery, they soften a bit. The faintest hint of a smile tugs at the corners of his lips as he considers the sights thoughtfully. My wife would love it here...

Rasp

Rasp makes a mental note to not eat the purple fruit. " may I ask who or what is above and how can they help us?" Rasp wonders.

Warren and Rasp

"Ah, How to get out of here, well I wonder why you would want to, but no accounting for the desires of some folks." The wise voice spoke in a disappointed tone. Then in front of you, a Small Pixie materializes. "Do not be surprised, The Mors grant us favor to use magic so that we can tend the garden. Normally we stay hidden, but you folks are well mannered and seem to be no threat, of harm nor insult." The Pixie, who introduces himself as Dinul , bows deeply.

He scratches his chin and looks around, "The others are a bit shy, but they'll come around. Now, as to the panes, yes, they are windows on other places, the Mors has favors he wishes you to do, or tests, or just fun. Close the panes, and you'll leave. How many is up to you. When you finish, come here, or up above and receive refreshment. Who is up there? Why our.... brothers and sisters, of a kind."

With that a few more Pixies materialize, bow and then seem to go about the task of tending the garden, occasionally tasting the plants and nodding their heads in satisfaction.

bowing back, Can you tell us these favors so that we may return to the place from which we came?

A frown tugging at her lips, Imbri's eyebrows furrow slightly. "Do you happen to know what sort of task that 'the Mors' might have in mind for us? If we knew a little more, we might prepare or discuss a strategy so as not to disappoint." Sliding her longsword back in its scabbard, Imbri's tone is polite, but wary.

Burburi starts to extend a hand toward the purple fruit, eager to indulge a new cuisine, before the double meaning of the voices' words sinks in and she retracts her arm with a quickly-suppressed flustered look on her face.

At the appearance of the pixies, Burburi breaks out in a grin. "It's good to see you at last! Hello! You've been so dear to us already, so many thanks. But, erm... how do we physically get to the panes if our magic doesn't work here? We don't have wings like you lovely lot, and while jumping out to the panes is no problem for a gnome of my caliber, I do worry about my friends here." At that last comment, Burburi puffs up with some bravado, as if to dissuade any suspicions that she personally is worried about the task ahead.

Alhambra

Alhambra bows in greeting to the fairy that reveals itself. She bends to delicately pluck some of the food that was growing all around them. It seemed only the neighbourly thing to do.

Imbri and Burburi

“The Mors has set out many tasks, some are quite unusual, some are commonplace. We do not know which is which, our task here is a different one.” Said the wise sprite.

“Ah, the panes, I have not been up there in years, decades, maybe a century, time is so confusing here, but to reach one, one merely has to reach for one. Although sometimes they venture near the path.” Says a young sounding, if such a thing can be applied to a spite, voice. “Each pane leads somewhere different. Find the way through and back again, that is the task.”

The fruit is reviving, a single bite seems to satisfy your hunger and thirst. Amazing. “If you think that is good, try the water, but not now, wait till you are ready to start off on your adventure.” Says a cheerful voice.

Alhambra

Taking the cheerful hint in the helpful spirit in which it was offered, Alhambra waves her hand back in the direction of the big curving ramp up. She smiles at her colleagues in a 'let's not overstay our welcome' way.

"Just so. I'm sure that we'll have many more fascinating topics to chat about after we return from the panes, but for now, I'd suggest that we be on our way. Try the yellow fruit - they're delicious."

Mug hesitantly nips a pendulous bean from a vine, and yips happily in response. Hoping that the others are clear about this, Alhambra and Mug begin the walk back to the ramp.

Warren grunts. "Back up the stairs and studying the panes to see if we can figure out which one we're supposed to... do whatever it is we're supposed to do with?"

Glancing at the yellow fruits indicated, he plucks one up and shoves it into a pocket. Before he can grab another one for, presumably, his other pocket, Glue shoulders him aside and starts happily hogging the rest near Warren all for himself. Glaring at the greedy unicorn, Warren walks away, heading towards the stairs.

[Ason]

Seeing Alhambra eat the fruit with no ill effects, Burburi's eyes grow wide. The gnome then gingerly kneels down to scoop some water up to her mouth to drink, sipping it gingerly at first but then greedily should it seem safe. Standing up, the tiny woman then gives a small curtsy as best she can in plate armor, saying, "Thank you again, then, dears. I'd say 'farewell', but it sounds like we'll be seeing you again soon. So ta-ta for now, instead!"

At that, Burburi turns to join the others already heading back up, curious to see these panes in action.

Rasp

Rasp waves goodbye and gives his best smile. He wasn't sure he trusted the pixie-things but they seemed genuinely helpful. "Thanks!"

Only thing worse then going down a mile of stairs is going back up. Rasp thought to himself.
