I probably should have put this in the previous post, but Ahriman needs to roll too. Being a transhuman supersoldier doesn't make you immune to getting tired.

    (1d100)[37] - he's fine

If the roll fails, Hannabel will consume a dose of Wideawake, which counteracts one level of Fatigue for (1d5)[5] hours.

Is the mirror-room the actual Navigation chamber, with the throne, or is this a lower area for recreation? That was my guess, given the resting pool. That it was a kind of personal spa for rich Navis. If it's the Navigation chamber, then the mirrors may well have some arcane purpose. What would Echo think, for the purpose of Hannabel's destructive impulses?

Furthermore, does the buzzing sound actually seem to be getting louder, or is it just less distracting in this part of the ship? I was under the impression that it had stopped entirely and only restarted near the top of the tower.

When I post, I'll also have Echo ask Ahriman what he thinks might happen if we Translate here. Would it get us closer to the monster hiding in the planet, or just toss us into the Warp unprepared.

this is the Navigation chamber. The pool is for the Navigator to lie in while they do the navigating, instead of a throne. Sargon's got his tank, this ship has a pool. Just how it works sometimes.

Echo would know that the mirrors are used to enhance the Navigator's abilities, but probably not how.

Give me a couple rolls for Echo, as though you were about to start a warp voyage. You can skip Determining the Duration of passage, though. This is uncharted territory, you have no idea where you're going or how long it will take.

-10 penalty from Fatigue is included. No Fate Points left. I assume our saint's fingerbones relic is back on the Sting.

Determining Duration of Passage: Navigation (Warp) (76):
Locating the Astronomican: Ordinary Awareness (74): (1d100)[50]
Charting the Course: Ordinary Perception (54): (1d100)[99]
Steering the Vessel: Navigation (Warp) (76): (1d100)[30]
Leaving the Warp: Hard Perception (24): (1d100)[83]

As a side-bar, Kennoch is still keeping an eye on the Astropaths. I assume that the rest of them followed Macharius to the tower and will stick with him for safety; if they aren't for some reason, then Kennoch urges them to do so. He is determined to save as many of them as possible and return them to their colleagues. Or add them to our Astropath's Choir back at Port Davis.

    Edit: Woof. Hang on, everybody.

Forgot, because I was posting the update rather late yesterday, but Echo gets some insanity points for his troubles. Obviously, these tests were not for actually navigating, they were for other secret things that happened to map well, and you passed the important ones. You got 6 degrees of failure on the Leaving the Warp check, though, and that's worth (1d5+3)[6] insanity.

As an aside, I believe Anika has Speak Language (Eldar), in which case she might have a better time parsing what the Eldar is saying. He's mostly speaking in Gothic, for your benefit. "Sha'eil," though, is a an Eldar term that refers to the warp, empyric energy, chaos in general, etc. Your puny human languages do not have an equivalent.

Also, now that we're past that section, I need to say Hannabel's plan to start shooting would absolutely have worked for that last bit. I am very proud of Rax for noticing exactly what was going on, and I have to tell you this so that you can begin feeling smug about it.

Hehehe. That'll teach me to encourage Hannabel's restraint.

Alright, first thing, 6 more Insanity puts me at 30 (I'm coming for your title, Anika!), so I think I have to roll for mental trauma.

    Willpower (53+10): (1d100)[62] Barely passed!
    Trauma if necessary: (1d100)[46]

Second thing, I think this is the time to buy my Rank 4 Navigator Power, Foreshadowing. Kennoch has seen more of the past, future, and inner workings of time itself, than any human rightfully should, so I figure this is an appropriate reward, paid for in the coin of his psychological stability. Fingers crossed for a useful mutation!

Ordinary Toughness (53): (1d100)[79] Failed! I'm kinda pleased; half the fun of playing a Navigator is collecting mutations.
Mutation if necessary: (1d100)[30] Especially mutations with lore significance; this is his favorite aunt's, so, that's quite nice. Though I guess it's up to Destro if Echo's void suit still fits. Would you like to go ahead and have the Toughness penalty take effect now, and lead into the height change itself at the end of the chapter? Seems a bit silly to me to have him just poof into a taller body.

And finally, maybe I misunderstood your post, but I'm actually kinda concerned that the Astropaths are still here? I'm no longer convinced that they're real; these guys might be some kind of Chaos-phantoms. I'd like to use Gaze into the Abyss, as well as regular Lore, to see what Kennoch thinks. He's fortunately smarter than I am. Basically, did the power of the Warp twist the Engine into performing actual time travel, without tainting the Astropaths themselves, or has it just given a semblance of corrupted life to some old memories? One of these options is a miracle from the benevolent God-Emperor, and the other will prompt Echo to quietly ask somebody to toss a grenade into the huddled psykers before they turn on us.

Sure, we can do that. It would take some time for something like that to happen anyways, you don't just go poof, tall. He'll have to have his void suit adjusted!

You misunderstood. The anomaly was caused by the engine, but your travel into the past - and all of the Astropaths - are real. The illusions of the future didn't start until you went through the scary door. Flowery language aside since this is the OOC, the power of the warp turned the Engine into not just a precognition machine anymore. Given sufficient power, and appropriate prompting, it is now capable of actually sending people through time.

Hannabel can't recall hearing the term. It likely never came up, in her experience. Anika, however, once ran across the term in a (likely proscribed) tome on Eldar culture. It's similar to the old Earth concept of Ragnarok: the final battle of the gods to end the world, though in this case it's the final battle between Eldar and Chaos, a showdown that will ultimately end with the destruction of both. The name literally translates as 'End of All Days.' It has been a continuing theme in Eldar mythology since the days of The Fall, and is supposed to result in the rebirth of the Eldar in some sort of new form, and the unification of the warp and the materium into one stable realm, and a number of other fairly improbable things. Eldar being Eldar, though, it's hard to separate myth from prophecy.

I missed this when I was writing the IC earlier, and couldn't think of a good way to fit it in now that the moment has passed. The Eldar would have told you some form of address for them, if only because it makes my life easier writing these.

The one in the center, who dislikes you, is Farseer Balthanil. The female, who seems to know more about the Wraithguard than the other two, is Spiritseer Aegwaeyn. The introspective third one is Bonesinger Caerdavar.

Did we ever establish whether the names and deeds of the Primarchs (including the traitors) is common knowledge among the command crew? It feels like it's the sort of thing only people with the appropriate Scholastic or Forbidden Lores might know, but we've been gallivanting about with one of the big name traitors for a while now. Maybe the subject came up in passing...
