How do I connect to Chromecast without using wi-fi
I'm trying to connect to my chromecast without wasting bandwidth on my home wi-fi router because I'm downloading a bunch of large steam games.
It's my understanding that you're supposed to be able to connect a phone directly to the chromecast by setting the chromecast to guest mode using the google home app. But even after turning guest mode on the chromecast still seems to require the device I'm streaming from to be connected to the local wi-fi network"If you want to understand biology don't think about vibrant throbbing gels and oozes, think about information technology" -Richard Dawkins

Re: How do I connect to Chromecast without using wi-fi
Have you tried connecting your TV to your router with an ethernet cable, it will save wifi bandwith. In my experience it's no better than wifi though.
I don't think you can save bandwidth, the connection from your TV to your phone is not peer to peer, it goes through your router. If the game files are causing a disruption you could limit the bandwidth when downloading.Black text is for sarcasm, also sincerity.
