Fair. Like, I deliberately obscure things about my real life, like the Washington job I need to go back to, but only the other mods and admins really know what it is. They also have an open invite to go up and see me sometime once I finally get back in and settled there. Which is a neat offer because the office, as it is, is just the coolest.

I like to do thought exercises where I imagine a non-Marvel character being bonded with a compatible symbiote for an extended period of time and then picturing how the symbiote might adapt over time based on that character's biology, environment, and experiences.

And not just superpowered characters either. I started typing this post and the image of Hank Hill using a heat-resistant symbiote with the power to generate propane to power his truck and lawnmower popped into my head.

He'd probably be significantly less powerful.


Anyway, I started watching Monkie Kid. It is a significantly better successor to Monkey than the series actually trying to be. It's goofy fun, just with the animation allowing it to do spectacular fight scenes, animated Lego always looks amazing, and I'm glad that it's 2D. Monkey himself is, of course, able to steal any scene he's in.

A few months ago I saw someone make a video claiming that Dae Gribble from the same show was secretly a godlike superhuman.

the video in question, while a clear work of satire which invovled playing to the "King of the Hill is one of my favorite animes" meme(which involves such things as describing the show like it's a shonen anime or editing clips of the show to be more anime like) did cite events from the show that... Actually do demonstrate impressive physical feats.

The person who did so later did one for Hank and seems to be planning to do videos for the rest of the "Rainy Stree Four" as well as Bobby and Peggy, but that's beside the point.

I can link the Dale one(the Hank one has language which is censored on the forum) but they're long.

Symbiotes possess the power "Divine Slaying." While any given Symbiote probably isn't strong enough to defeat any given deity in a vacuum... Ain't no way in hell that Venom is beating Odin, they have the whole schtick of being able to bypass the immortality of and steal power from gods and godlike beings.

Kicking the crap out of gods and godlike beings is kind of Wukong's thing, so while it's not likely that his symbiote will develop any specific powers based on him, it would have plenty of opportunities to grow stronger.

That aside, it would be highly likely to absorb his knowledge of martial arts and the various spells/transformations he learned in his pursuit of immortality.

Furthermore: Symbiotes are known to 1: both feed on and magnify the power of magic and 2: Gain additional, long-term benefits from assorted drugs and potions. If the Monkey King were bonded to his Symbiote within the first few chapters, and he was bonded with it when he stole and overindulged on the Peaches of Immortality and the Wine of Immortality and the Pills of Immortality, then the Symbiote would also gain the effects of those substances. Symbiotes are already useless and can be revived from the dead under certain circumstances, so that vitality would manifest in a different form, but...

The only hard part is when the Gods tried to execute wukong by throwing him into the furnace that burns hot enough to kill even an immortal but he stands in just the right place so it refines all the drugs in his system to make their effects permanent and make him invulnerable. It's kind of hit and miss what, other than repeated exposure, can make a symbiote resistant to or immune to heat and just becuase Wukong is protected that doesn't mean that the symbiote, which is highly vulnerable to heat, is. Even if it is, there's no telling what kind of effect having an alchemical conversion process going on in the same body it's occupying would have on it... Especially if the same effect is going on within itself.

It could do anything from triggering apotheosis to have the bonding become permanent to make the symbiote not a symbiote anymore.

Found a local store that sells something similar to a sweet chili powder I like but usually have to have a relative buy and ship to me.

The other stuff is sweeter and this has a bit of a mild kick to it but the flavor is close enough that it should work for most things, so I'm happy.

Making homemade nacho cheese for Superbowl Sunday.

experiment was a failure, ended up chili cheese sauce.

Again. Also, it didn't end up quite right and my mom sort of took over and saved it by adding an extra cup of milk and a bag of shredded mozzarella

So it's three cups of milk, four cups of cheese that's equally moz and mild cheddar, and my spice blend.

...I'm gonna have to revisit the spice blend. That's where th problems seem to come it.

It's still edible though.

That's cool. I watch Hulu, Disney Plus Streams. I haven't watched Cable TV since 2010 because it was very expensive to pay the cable bill.

Yeah I can watch hours long videos like that.

But at the same time on a related note, honestly I find myself wishing I could find more good content that is 40 minutes or less, because watching hours long streams can be fun and all, but they can also be tiring, low effort and without polish if the content isn't interesting enough. they are often the creator at their rawest and while that is fine, sometimes I want something shorter, smoother and presented well. like too many good creators have become streamers, they can still be good but its often not their best work. the exception are those streamers who actually involve the audience in how they play otherwise it can devolve into them doing nothing but thanking for bits for huge parts of the stream which interrupts the flow.

Earlier this week I went to a movie with my roommate (her suggestion) and she wore a dress - it was pretty warm and that may be why, but long ago she told me “It doesn’t count as a date unless I wear a dress”, so first official date after so many restaurants, movies and concerts?

Yesterday morning as I was entering my car she chased after me wearing a white night dress to give me a gift to give my wife’s older son (who’s name she remembered!).

My first ever sight of her in a white dress immediately sparked thoughts of a wedding.

Since she’s been told that she very likely has multiple tumors and quite possibly cancer my roommate seems more affectionate - though she did ask for a memorial park bench so maybe she just knows that I’m the one who’ll give her that.

I’m still spending the weekends with my wife, of which my roommate said: “I'd like to ask u stay extra day but I know little one misses u”

My wife doesn’t talk of my roommate much but has asked some about her health, after I told her my wife said, resigningly, “You’ll be her caretaker”.

Of my relationship with my roommate my Mom said “She's lucky to have you as a friend”.

Fate is strange, if I wasn’t told in 2020 that I had an “80% chance of advanced lung cancer and after seeing my wife’s reaction (and lack of reaction) to that news I never would have moved in with my roommate, and I fall more in love with my roommate every week but there are lines we don’t cross, at the same time I’ve been growing more forgiving of my wife and the thought of living with her full-time doesn’t fill me with the despair it once did, but I now feel guilty not being with my roommate.

My plans are to stay with my roommate until she gets well or dies, but still come back to the wife on weekends to be a Dad (I’ve started to teach the older boy how to drive).

If my roommate dies I imagine that I’ll return to my wife, but forever mourn my roommate, if she gets better than I really don’t know what will happen.

It’s also a possibility that she’ll stay in a twilight for a long time (she had a different form of cancer before, which made her empathize when I was told I likely did).

Surgery to remove her tumor had been scheduled for tomorrow (yes, on Valentine’s Day!), but she’s recently gotten a second opinion and now she’s scheduled a week full of tests and is likely to start chemo therapy to shrink what on the last scan look like multiple tumors before surgery.

Unlike a year ago my wife is pleasant to be with now, and I feel guilty not spending weekdays with the kids, but I miss my roommate when I’m not with her and feel guilty not being with her as well.

This morning she sent me the message: “Wish u were home cuz it's Super Bowl day lots of places will be empty!!!”, and despite a good day with the kids (and a not so bad day with my wife) I do long to be with my roommate.

I’m taking all week off work starting Monday to do just that.
