Unrelated, I wish Indeed had a 'find jobs I'm qualified for or close to based on my resume' function.

Manually searching, and trying to guess what keywords it wants me to enter are a pain.

Yeah, I fully agree with this. Job searching has slowed down until I get new eyes (appointment got moved due to an infection), but I fully remember the pain.

Especially working out what to put in quotes and what not to. There's a reason I don't have a better job yet.


So I've decided that if I'm playing a lot of PC games in addition to a decent controller I should probably upgrade to a mechanical keyboard. But not only is finding one in my price range not easy (I can't afford to spend £100+ on a keyboard even though I want to) I'm struggling to find ones without RGB. I don't want RGB, it's just going to distract me, but it's the in thing so finding a normal mech keyboard without spending £100 plus shipping and waiting is annoying.

I can at least provide for the second of these: beyond the obvious recommendation of Pirates of Penzance, I also will note the new television series "Our Flag Means Death" which is apparently really really good and actually canon gay which is cool if you can get past the fact that the main characters are all real life actual brutal murderers who definitely weren't gay and definitely do a lot of sexual assault so making them soft gay pirate adventure lads sure is a Choice.

It *is* backlit, yes, but generally these things give you the option to turn that off if you choose. I would recommend the AUKEY mechanical keyboard I've had for nearly four years with regards to cheap mechanical keyboards, but Amazon don't sell those anymore for some reason and I'm not sure where else you can get them!

I've kind of fallen down a jump chain rabbit hole recently. There's one based on Metroid where, if you take the right options, you're guaranteed to always be "you" and to always have your soul or anything that's functionally a soul even if you completly replace your body with tech(though it doesn't specify if this applies to brain uploads) and another option that guarantees that you'll never suffer unwanted psychological changes, harmful mutations, or negative side effects from genetic or physiological mods.

It was made sometime before Dread, but crunching the numbers I was able to just barely Bootstrap the Metroid suit, albeit with significantly cut-down utility options, no missles, and having to fudge some stuff with the beam.

although if there's an infinite multiverse out there, then whatever version of me got incarnated in h Metroid universe to fulfill that role probably hates my guts because I had to take the "there's a full powred Phazon clone of you that is actively trying to murder you and you don't get to leave until you kill it even if your ten years are up" option to have enough points.

That's not a wolf. What you have there is still a noble hunter, but it's s bit smaller and goes meow.

Yeah, I think I found it when searching Amazon. It's certainly an option, although I might see if I can find a similar one with a numpad.

And it's always the way that good, cheap products disappear. Still, pretty much anything will be better than rubber domes.

In the novel "A Fire Upon the Deep" by Vernor Vinge there's an alien species that only exists as a sentient entity when at least three (or possibly four, I forget) members are together--each communicates with each other via ultrasonic waves and only a group is intelligent enough to "think". The issue is that the individual members can't get too far apart due to the speed of sound causing issues, until radio gets involved, at any rate!

How about neither? If they starve long enough, they'll either
1. fight and the winner can be the new you; or
2. just get an ugly death by prolonged malnutrition each and then you won't have wolves inside you (which, frankly, sounds a bit unhealthy).

That's a nice looking keyboard. Just enough color coding to be useful. It's majestic in its simplicity. I kind of want one now.

Anyway this is brutally evil, sorry you have to deal with this.

I'm exaggerating how much of a pain this is a little bit; I get paid exceptionally well given I've spent the last 4 months basically doing training without actual work. Moving into an apartment alone is one of the best things I've ever done. And one silver lining to the world locking down is that I will be able to do the job remotely at first, which among other things means I have time to figure things out.

It's still annoying.

They seem to work well enough without, not even sure what all that other stuff in there is for!
