I've started the sheet for Farid Fogbender.

Water Genasi Swarmkeeper Ranger (his swarm effects are fluffed as mist).
He's all into Wisdom, for fighting and for skills (Insight, Survival, Medicine and extra high Perception).
He can keep the party in food and water indefinitely (Create Water and Goodberry).
A bit of control in combat (although not a lot of damage).

Should be all done by tomorrow.

So far, looks pretty good.

I have mixed feelings about create water and goodberry - part of the point of this hex crawl is the difficulty of surviving in the jungle. Farid will effectively negate that challenge. On the other hand, taking a walking pantry with you into the jungle is just good planning. I think we'll work with it, and there will be plenty of other challenges that his spells won't be able to solve.

On the forums I'm normally on, speech is generally bold, and I find it very helpful when skimming posts to see what I need to reply to. I'm excited to have colours to choose from. My NPCs will probably speak like this: "Hello there, brave adventurers."

You can choose to have a colour for your speech, or just plain black bold. Italics should be for thoughts.

No, that's okay, I've wrapped my head around it. Your choice. I'd rather my players had characters they are really invested in, and work the adventure around that. I have lots of ways to make this hard for you other than looking for food.

You can go with changeling if you like - I played one in a long-running campaign and had a lot of fun with her. I don't think it will be problematic. The idea with book restrictions was more along the lines of "run it by me", as opposed to "completely verboten".

Looks like we have a full crew! Time to fill out all those flaws and bonds etc, then head over to IC and drop your first post.

I've added a map of Port Nyanzaru to the slide deck. I've labelled a few of the locations that are obvious to those travelling through the city - if you're in other areas, I will describe those locations.

4) Goldenthrone. While on the ship, you learned that Port Nyanzaru is ruled by several Merchant Princes. They live in luxurious villas, and govern from Goldenthrone.
6) The Grand Souk is one of the three main markets. Where traders from the Sword Coast come to buy and sell treasures from Chult.
7) Temple of Savras. Up on a hill, you can see the tiled roof of this temple looking like a giant unblinking eye
9) Temple of Sune: You sailed past this - an isolated pinnacle of rock with a beautiful roof that seems to float above the temple. There is an elevated walkway connecting it to the city.
12) You sailed past this statue, a giant Chultan King in full regalia, with a headdress of skulls and teeth and feathers, and a cape of girallon fur and monkey tails. He carries an oblong shield and a strange spear, with a long blade.

15) Original Fort Nyanzaru
19) Fish Market. This is close to where you disembark.
20)Big stone arena where the gladitorial games are held.
21) Hall of Gold/Temple of Waukeen. The roof is blinding in the sun, and visible from most of the city.
22) Public bathhouse, open to all members of the public for a donation. The people of Port Nyanzaru are very fastidious and most bathe daily. There are also many private bathhouses in the city.

I'm at a bit of a loss, I've never had a game start so slowly. If we're going to make this work, I need more than one post a week. Those of you participating - any thoughts? Should I re-open recruitment? Soldier on and hope the others start posting more often? A 2 PC party is a bit small.

This is the first time I've offered to GM based on a recruitment request, so I wasn't as specific with my player requirements as I otherwise am. Live and learn, I guess. Hopefully we can make this work, as it's a fun campaign. I like the peninsula of Chult a lot, and I'd like to get a move on.

These games do tend to have a large drop-off rate, but I must admit I'm a little surprised two people didn't even make it out of the OOC thread.
