Default Any issues giving both deft and natural explorer?

My campaign where I'm DMing for my kids and my oldest finally got himself out of the doghouse for really, really screwing up and is allowed to make a character.

He wants to play a Beast master Ranger, and while I'm trying to keep mostly to phb to be simpler I'm already giving him the Tasha's Beast master changes. So, any issues with giving both deft explorer and natural explorer?

Playing Ghosts of Saltmarsh because the idea excited them.

    -yes feats
    -no multiclassing
    -mostly phb
-others PCs are paladin, fighters, and divine soul sorcerer (yes I know it's not phb, but being related to a unicorn in some way was exciting to him).

I see no issues. I'm thinking of giving my PC ranger a choice of any two of the four level 1 features. But even if I gave him all four, I don't think it would have any impact on balance.

That will very much depend on your DM, ask them. If you are the DM probably not an issue. Natural explorer depends alot on whether the DM uses a charitable or strict reading, the more strict the less likely it is to be an issue.

The big thing to worry about with natural explorer is how often you expect yourself to rule in favor of "related to your favored terrain" if you see yourself ruling in favor an overwhelming majority of the time, then this might have some concerns. Since your asking the question at all, I assume this won't be the case, it should be fine.
    My sig is something witty.

78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.
