Shamus Young, author of DM of the Rings, Has passed away.

This was a kick in the gut that I just found out about today. For those of you who weren't following him, he's had increasingly serious health problems over the last couple of years.

He was the creator of DM of the Rings, wrote a book-length critique of the Mass Effect series and how it went wrong, wrote for the Escapist when it was an actual thing, and was still running his blog and podcast.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear this. I haven't read anything from the site since...high school I think, but I always figured it would just be there chugging along for pretty much forever.

Thanks for posting this. I used to read his blog daily, but dropped out over some formatting changes about 5 years ago. I read through some of the archives just a couple of months ago. I have his book, too.

Thank you for letting us know. That's terribly sad, although it sounds like it was not unexpected. I liked his webcomic and though his other failed webcomic project was pretty cool.

This is so sad to hear. DM of the Rings was a lot of people's gateway to D&D-related serial webcomics like OotS. RIP Shamus

It was a gut-punch when I saw the news on his site, especially when it seemed that things might be looking up for him with dialysis (which we learnt that he hated after he died). I've been going to Twenty Sided since at least the first season of Spoiler Warning (2010) and I don't think anyone else produces the type of content he did.
