Damn. This is sad to hear. I loved Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid, and have just recently gotten back into it.

Re: Kazuki Takahashi (artist of YuGiOh) has passed away
I still play yugioh to this day with my friends.
A really sad loss. This man helped create my childhood.
Rest in peace and thanks for everything, Mr Kazuki Takahashi.

Legitimately really upset about this. The man was a friggin' legend. Hell, his name's on thousands of little cards, in millions of people's homes, bookshelves, walls, pockets and even wallets. {scrubbed} I hope he knew how awesome of a legacy he's leaving behind.

The Mod on the Silver Mountain: This thread is about Kazuki Takahashi, not anyone else. Let's keep it that way.

Re: Kazuki Takahashi (artist of YuGiOh) has passed away
So anyway yeah, Takahashi!
It's kinda neat how he started out wanting to make a horror manga and it would up becoming...well, the excellent story we got. You can still see those roots in some of the early parts of Yu-Gi-Oh!, with the spooky, heavily-shaded monster designs and the life-or-death scenarios the characters wound up in. Season 0 is still infamous for being notably darker, after all. And then it spun into this great story that tells us that interpersonal bonds and friendships matter and have a lasting imprint on the world around us, through the lens of games and friendly competition. On top of that, any manga/anime with Joey Wheeler in it is solid gold by default.
That's a guy I had wanted to meet if I could, a really inspirational and interesting person, and now it's a missed chance. I can't be the only one who feels that way, and now we'll have to settle for just celebrating the man himself and learning about him. For example, I saw a Shonen Jump page yesterday that featured an art swap between Takahashi and the guy behind Hellboy, of all comic book characters, and it honestly makes perfect sense when you look at his earliest works.
Sorry to ramble. Wanted to keep the topic positive and had a little bit to say about this really cool man.
