Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
Alright, about time I got to this...
Subclass votes
1. Martial Archetype: The Weaponsmith - It just looks and feels so official, more-so even than some published material. I can't say how much I love me some customization.
2. Bard: College of the Chameleon - I'm getting some strong Factotum vibes here, but actually balanced. Simple (and?) versatile too!
3. The Hermit - I care very little to play a Wizard or Barbarian, but this hits a sweet spot I didn't even know I had.
Theme votes
1. The Band
2. My Way is Different

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
I meant to give my thoughts on all the subclasses individually before the deadline but I couldn’t find the time while I was on vacation. Oh well. Lots of great subclasses this time around.
1: Way of the Tiger. It gives some very interesting mechanics for a monk and lets them deal damage and frontline better. Very solid. Also lets me make a rocky reference.
2: The hermit. It’s funny that two of my three picks are Barbarian fusions. I might swap reckless casting with spell critical since RC is crazy strong, I would also personally make the trances use Prof bonus for uses like bladesong just for the sake of design principles. Over all very fun. The fact you made Barbarian and wizard mesh so well is nothing short of impressive.
3: The Diabolist. I like artificers and I like warlocks. So this is great. I was stuck between this and the ooze monk but I already have so many Barbarian hybrids and diabolist looked more fun for me personally
As for my vote for the next contest, Foods and Foodies. I have a neat idea for that.Last edited by Jervis; 2022-08-08 at 09:51 AM.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
Here my preferences!
- Barbarian: Path of the Psi-Fury
- Martial Archetype: The Weaponsmith
- Diabolist
And for the next one:
- Bigger is Better
- It's Mind!
Also, in the wake of my Hermit, I suggest to add to the candidates of the next contests a new theme inspired by Tarot. The subclass could be inspired by a card (the Hanged Rogue, the Fool Bard, the Tower Fighter... ), use a mechanic that exploits cards, or even be inspired by other tarot-themed works, like the Persona series.Last edited by Old Harry MTX; 2022-08-12 at 03:50 AM.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
- Arcane Tradition: Ultimate Magic - This is a really well done borrowing of sorcerer points for a wizard, it is a really hard thing to do well and I really like this one.
- Barbarian: Path of the Psi-Fury - A well made barbarian, it gives you a reason to stay in barbarian and gives a very different gameplay style.
- Druid Archetype: Circle of Fury - Honestly, I really like the idea of an angry Druid, it goes against the grain and feels fun.
And I'm voting Food and Foodies for the next contestLast edited by nickl_2000; 2022-08-08 at 01:21 PM.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
1. Weaponsmith - looks a blast to play and fills missing niche, bonus points for using the weapon I created as an example in the chat thread
2. Diabolist - why focus solely on science and machinery, when you can whistle up a demon or two
3. Hermit - my favorite of the glut of barbarian mash-ups that we got this go-round, has an elegance to the design

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
Subclass Votes
1. Weapon Smith: Always a sucker for artificer-related stuff.
2. Psi-Fury barbarian: A nice take on a psionic subclass, and really like how it leans into the barbarian's strengths.
3. Circle of Fury: Out of all the rage based subclasses, this one gets my vote solely because of the AOE critical: that's an interesting take on a feature.
Theme Votes
1. My way is different
2. Its mind!
Also, what does "alternate and rare mechanics" mean in this context?Last edited by bandti; 2022-08-10 at 07:11 PM.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
7 subclasses out of 12 that either are barbarian subclasses or borrow from barbarian. Speaks to rage being easy to implement or ride on, I guess.
Subclasses:- Martial Archetype: The Weaponsmith. I'm a sucker for customizeable weapons, also, looks thematic and well-balanced to me.
- Monk, Way of the Raging Tiger. Simple enough and reasonably powerful implementation that both borrows from barbarian faithfully and ties into core monk features. Bonus points for missile deflection working against melee attacks, though I'd clarify you can't disarm a creature using its natural weapon. :)
- Barbarian: Path of the Psi-Fury. Tactical-minded players would love to play this one. I'm still figuring out shenanigans one can pull with those psionic abilities.
Themes:- Bigger is Better
- It's Mind!

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XXXI Voting Thread
The votes are in!
In 3rd place, with 8 points, we have The Hermit by Old Harry MTX .
In 2nd place, with 12 points, we have the Barbarian: Path of the Psi-Fury by RickAsWritten
and *drum roll* in first place, with a whopping 23 points we have Martial Archetype: The Weaponsmith by Damon_Tor!
Congratulations to all the winners! Our next contest will be food and foodies, which is the winner by having the most 1st place votes. My Way is Different and Bigger is Better will move to the next contest due to being tied for second.Last edited by nickl_2000; 2022-08-15 at 11:52 AM.
