    Please be okay! she thinks.
Purple slime drips from Coral’s lips
    Into Wave’s open mouth
    For a moment no reaction
    Then
Wave returns to the land of the living
    With a sputtering cough

    Touched by Coral’s bravery
    Wave smiles,
    “You came back
    The villagers?
    They’re okay?”

    Assured that they are

    The monster continues to rampage
    Spreading fire all around

    “Got any good ideas?”

With the roof dampened, the main threat now is just the Rangers themselves. If all seven of them stormed in, they'd be in trouble. Gotta cripple some outside and have them spend time taking care of their own wounded...

    The ranger stumbles backwards
    Falling to the ground

    Working the mechanism

Right. Rhubarb nods along as the others, with the kobold and dwarf at the helm, busy themselves mounting a defense. The fire needs to go, that's right, but… Not just that! she calls out, a thought occuring to her. Remove all lights! Half them won't see jack after, they're humans! she explains, wrapping a rag on the butt of a spear and soaking it in beer. Someone taller help me. she beckons the cowering locals as she darts for the closest flame or light she can reach, pausing for a mere second to squint at the bard. Music man, you of the casting sort? Wanna sing for us?

    One by one
    Lights flicker out
    The cottage disappears
    Into the moonless night

    Twinforge nods
    With a touch of respect
Exactly as he would have done

    Inside

Stringfellow with a flourish and bow

    Taken aback by the suggestion
The bard throws up his hands
Assure you a sorcerer he is not

He would not believe his ridiculous tale
Had he heard it in story or song
    But experience he did
    Nothing more does he know

Still isn't there a kind of magic in song
    Can not everyone feel it?
    The bard begins to sing
    Of little use otherwise

    Stringfellow [Bard level 3]
    Uses inspire courage +1

At the start of next round
Allies able to hear his song
Receive +1 saving throw vs charm and fear
+1 on Attack roll and damage

Without any ranger weapon, or skill with one should he be able to get one Dufander instead spends the first few seconds running towards the barricaded door. His mace is raised high, ready to defend the position about anyone trying to push in.

Wave consumes berries by the handful
    Her burns start to fade
    But fail to disappear

    Wincing in pain
As she leans against a large stone
    Still hidden are they
Among the ruins of the town

    The elemental continues
More does it burn with each passing minute
To the ocean they must go
But outrun it they can not
For much faster than they does it move

    Twinforge wears a demented grin
As the chaos unfolds before him
So within his element is he

To a trusted ally he does turn
    Remember long ago
    Those Bugbear
    Sheltering in their cave
With a nod of his head
A plan is put in motion

    The veteran ranger
    Rushes forward
Running as fast as he can
    Towards the inn

    Exposed completely
    An easy target
Against the front wall does he lean
    Under the window
    His position reached

    V1 double moves to R12

    Her wand
    Left behind
    At the centre of town
Near where the monster lays waste

    As for the rules
    Fire is primordial
    It needs not nature

    A volley of arrows
    Fly high overhead
Onto the roof do they land
    But none do ignite

    Through the upper window
    Does Satria see
    A flaming arrow fly
    Upon much bedding
    It does land

    Twinforge raises his bow
    Watching for his moment
    Stands tall
    Illuminated
    A tempting target
    Readies his attack

Coral points and says, "You'll have to get it again while I distract it."

Picking up some stones, she begins throwing them at the flaming elemental.

"Hey you big dumb fire, a candle couldn't.. uh.." but she gives up trying to make up an insult, seeing as it hardly understood her anyway.

Once she's got the elemental's attention, she tries to run behind a burning building.

    Attacking fire with earth
    The brave human girl
    Draws the attention
Of a monster from the land of flames

    What a life is this
    Just another normal day?
    A hero was she

    Erupting with volcanic anger
    The elemental screams
    Giving chase
    Moves across the burning landscape
    In pursuit

Of wool, feathers, reeds, and hay

    But within mere seconds
    The entire bed is burning

    The door to the inn
    Charming and old
    Made of Oak
    Boards loosely fitted
    Through which can be seen
The forward advance of a ranger

    Too quickly does he move
    Staying low to the ground
    Crouched beneath the window
    Close enough
For Dufander to hear his heavy breathing

    The elemental is so close
Coral can feel the heat emanating from its molten body
    Ten feet behind
    Closing fast

    Wave traverses rough terrain
    Leaping over broken stone walls
    Dashing around burning debris
    Magic stick finally in hand

From the wild she does call
    An ally of animal kind
    A wolf

Runs towards her at great speed
    As it passes
    She snatches hold
    Pulling herself upon its back

Back against the wall, Skittles watches as Rhubarb kills the lights, Satria runs upstairs and Dufander takes up arms at the other front window. At least this is a sharp bunch she's found herself fallen into,

With a deep breath, she rolls back towards the small window and aims to find the young ranger recruit she pegged last time... And there he is, back standing with her bolt in thigh. Putting him out will mean the either have to deal with their wounded, or deal with the grief of letting a young man die. But that's their choice, not hers.

She looses another bolt into the night, clear for her but likely newly terrifying for the Human. She reaches around and snaps yet another bolt into place.

Though Satria's cry for help drowns out the sound of footfalls, Rhubarb's eyes, ever wary of danger pick up the blur of motion as the ranger approaches the unmanned window. You waiting for an invite? she barks at the inn folk. Grab water, head up, now! she instructs them, pulling out one of the entangler bags the dwarf gave her and sprinting towards the window in the meantime.

Once there, she inhales sharply and erupting from behind the cover of the windowsill, slams it down at the crouching figure outside.

Soon the fire will be out

Coral shrieks in pain as the elemental attacks her. So lucky is she that it grazes her, inflicting only a fraction of its terrifying potential, but it's enough to bring Coral to her knees.

Still, she does not fall yet, but she can do little else beside stand there quavering.

Was trying to look up my options, but pretty much anything I do will put Coral at -1 HP. Then she'll just be helpless when it attacks, which is even worse.

So, Coral is just taking no action because 10 AC is better than like 0 AC and a coup de grace or whatever.

Dufander yells to other common folk to lend a hand or clear the way as he drops his pack and runs to the bar of the inn, then grabs any large keg of beer or ale and heaves it up on his shoulder, hollering for others to make way as he gets ready to haul it up the stairs.
    Spoiler: OOC

Some light googling has put 200lbs as a pretty standard weight for a keg. This means Dufander can lift it as a heavy load, but since he’s a dwarf this doesn’t slow him down. It also means it does 1d6 damage per 10ft it falls onto someone. The plan is to drop it out the window on any ranger who spends too long there.

    Charge into battle

    All is darkness
    How long has passed
    She does not know

    Alone
    In a unknown bed
    Within an unknown room
    High above in the canopy
    A house amongst the trees

Some light googling has put 200lbs as a pretty standard weight for a keg. This means Dufander can lift it as a heavy load, but since he’s a dwarf this doesn’t slow him down. It also means it does 1d6 damage per 10ft it falls onto someone. The plan is to drop it out the window on any ranger who spends too long there.

Heavy barrel mounted to his shoulder
    Dufander begins his climb
A terrible weight pressing down upon him
Threatening to drive him to the floor
    With every step

    Sweat appears on Dufander’s brow
    Mighty gulps of air
    Fuel his lungs
    Arms and legs both tremble
    But
    He does not falter

Grab water, head up, now! she instructs them, pulling out one of the entangler bags the dwarf gave her and sprinting towards the window in the meantime.

Once there, she inhales sharply and erupting from behind the cover of the windowsill, slams it down at the crouching figure outside.

Okay. Free action yell at the locals,
move to the window while pulling out the t-bag,
standard action throw it at the ranger,
    free action drop prone.
    Crouched beneath the window
    His position known
    The ranger Ug-Ton
Strikes the sunrod in his hands

    The world is illuminated
    With an overwhelming brightness
    Ug-Ton shields his eyes
    Pained by the light
    From his hands does slip
    The rod upon the ground
