You like IV so you like "this is IV again, except for its acknowledging IV did exist but ultimately had no real bearing on anything ever"? That's… Weird.

That's an awfully shallow way to look at a few decades of galactic peace. We only got to see where things started going wrong again. We didn't get to see them successfully bringing things back together after the Empire fell and creating a New Republic out of its ruins. Along with the First Order being nowhere near the scale the Empire was at. They were less "tyrannical rulers" and more "terrorists". They just happened to have a superweapon that made the Death Star look like a toy.

It's the best least bad of the sequel trilogy.

Ehhhh, that all kind of makes it worse. It lasted about as long as the Empire. but at least the Empire took a concerted effort over years for the Rebellion to get it to fall. The First Order is almost entirely unknown, fires its big gun once, and in the title crawl for the next movie they're already reigning over the galaxy? The New Republic fell in like a day, to an enemy that was barely even a shadow of the Empire it took down.

That just makes the New Republic significantly worse.

A minor thing that I noticed the first time I saw the page.
    There is no blotting paper.
The ink stains exist in the OotSverse, it is admirably seen in the origins of the characters. Still, no one ever has blotting paper or a tampon.
And they always write with feather and inkwell.
"Calligraphy" has to be the most common skill in the manual. Japanese readers will be delighted.

The absence of blotting paper will be plot-relevant at some point in the near future, possibly resulting in the failure of an Explosive Runes spell.

Is there a chance of failure when a caster scribes a scroll or does something like writing the Exploding Runes? If not, there's some implication that there's some decent writing technology.

They'll be forced to resort to the most powerful artifact in their universe to deal with the ink blots, they'll need to blot it up with a doily!

Implosion is the opposite of explosion, so it makes the same sound in reverse:

    Mooooob!

I think it sounds more like this?

I can't believe I got to reference Ren and Stimpy twice in one day on the OOTS forum.

Well, there's Olbers' Paradox. If the universe was contracting, we'd be receiving blue-shifted radiation from all directions, until we were hot enough to radiate at the same level.

I'm already, hot, thanks. And I'm not blue.

[Looks at that avatar.] No offense, bud, but I'm not sure about either of those.
