Default What could be a small boon for a ranged Bladesinger so lvl14 isn't completely "dead"?

    Hi!

For a Bladesinger that uses a Pistol or a Hand-Crossbow instead of a melee weapon - what could be a small thing one could grant the character at lvl 14 so that they have a little something besides "Song of Victory" (which doesn't provide any benefit for them). Or should one just leave it as it is (it's still a powerful subclass without anything new at that level)?

    Cheers

It gives a boost to melee weapon attacks which is a completely different thing from attacks with a melee weapon.
You could probably benefit from it while using your pistol to bludgeon people when cornered.
Maybe shooting your pistol in melee might even count as a melee weapon attack.

You could offer +INT damage to one weapon attack per turn without breaking anything. If you want a stronger option, you could allow melee cantrip attacks to be made at range, so long as it's in the smaller attack range (e.g. 30 ft for a hand crossbow).

Nothing needed, its a caster with a whole bunch of of extra perks already. That you have chosen to play it a slightly different way doesn't warrant you getting anything for that choice.

Give the bonus to all attack rolls similar to Spirit Shroud. That's what I'm doing.

Song of Victory can still be good if they need to use a back up weapon for whatever reason, being stuck in melee, whip out weapon cantrips with a dagger, or a shadowblade.
    My sig is something witty.

Or once they get Shapechange. That extra damage is very nice when you Shapechange into a Marilith. Or a Hydra with a LOT of heads.

Bladesinger is a good sub class all by itself.

To be a bit more specific:

Bladesinger is a strong (relative to other wizard subclasses) subclass of a strong class. And then you're using it in a way (ranged combat) that lessens one of its few downsides (being dependent on bladesong + shield to not get squished in melee) and is often considered stronger than melee even for non casters. Yeah, OP, I think you're fine without any changes.

I'm gonna echo what other's have said and say that simply adding it to all attacks (not just melee) is a little bit too much as it basically circumvents the weaknesses of the subclasses in an all-to easy manner.

I think if you want the ability to not be useless while also using a single handed ranged weapon I might recommend only allowing the bonus to apply with attacks within 5ft, this allows the bonus to be used with close ranged crossbow attacks (assuming the crossbow-master feat is taken) while also not circumventing the weaknesses of the class as a whole.
