Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
I'd rather they get away wondering why they were spared than for them to get stomped and shredded by the lion and elephant - I'm not sure we're equipped to actually bust the gang here and now.
Oh, also my attack of opportunity, such that it is: (1d20+11)[30] for (1d4)[1] damage.Damien Wayne in Molan's Batman {D&D3.5e}

...Bafflingly, another crit.
(1d20+11)[20] to confirm for another (1d4)[1].
EDIT: This is literally the least impressive crit ever.Last edited by MrAbdiel; 2023-07-19 at 01:10 AM.

Right, but....

If the defender is running (in this case, turning his back to you and running away, and he does not have uncanny dodge), doesn't that deprive him of his dexterity bonus to AC?

Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
Oh. Well, if he's taking the Run action, then I guess so.
Damn... I need a subdual weapon. I think... I will... Let him run. Rolling these 7d6 is likely to kill this fool, and Damien is feeling regrettably non-lethal.
But the other clown is fresh as a daisy, right? Yeah, I'll swat at him:
(1d20+11)[28] vs Flatfoot AC. (1d4)[2]+(7d6)[31]. Take that!

Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
I think the soft lexicon might be "Initiative Rounds" and "Combat Turns" as the same thing; but when we're talking about character things refreshing once a turn, the only sensible decision is at the beginning or end of the character's action set. Otherwise we end up with weird initiative jerrymandering situations.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell in any case, looks like it's not gonna really be relevant. You're about 10 ft. from a clean getaway if I'm assessing things correctly.

Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
Hurrah! Yeah, my plan was to use my mostly-full-ki to escape. Now that the Elephant is down to a movement of 25, and I'm up to a 30 with Longstrider, I can outrun it - and I'll just have to fistfight the lion if I have to.
EDIT: It occurs to me that the most Damien thing to do would have been to notice the Dire Elephant had a bat shaped birthmark on its head and tame it. But Ranger/Tamer Of Beasts Damien must sadly wait for a different game.Last edited by MrAbdiel; 2023-08-01 at 05:39 AM.

Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
So what I’m hearing, is that Barbara is about 2.5/4 for qualifications to run this town.
More seriously, anyone have any advance on heading to the farm Lord territory and asking around about the bunch of people who recently arrived bringing weird masks and other cargo? Some of these people seem pretty distinctive.Last edited by JbeJ275; 2023-08-16 at 11:07 PM.

Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
Weird, burlap masks. But I'm sure it's... perfectly normal for people to wear scarecrow masks... during crowded events... in House Crane. *Sweats in Will Save.*
Seems like the thing to do!
Unless they're working with House Crane (to destroy their own interests and property?) or have infiltrated the Blackgates, they'll have to be coming in posing as normal people. And having oracle prowling about scraping surface thoughts for the mental equivalent of giggling might help us pick some out of the mix.
I might be getting too clever for my own good here, but it's starting to feel like we're being set up. Between the Jester giggling ominously about "Greener Pastures" and the graffitti effort on Wayne Castle with the 'tagger' fleeing towards the farmlands... not to mention the Jester was very clear that we have become very important to his forward plans... It seems like we're being finessed. He basically 'gave' us Vicki Vale, too.
This is definitely her, right? This isn't Molan playing a shell game with Harley Quinn and getting ready to say "well all I said was she was blonde, uwu".

Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
Oh, no, it's her, lol.
Swapping Harley would have been hilarious but at this stage in the game, breathtakingly shortsighted. 1. Oracle can read minds, so even if I had a way to block her thoughts I probably WOULDN'T have a way to block Jbe's suspicions, but more importantly, 2. Stephanie Brown KNOWS Vicki from an earlier solo mission. Even though she and Harley probably DO look somewhat similar I doubt that's a ruse I could have pulled off effectively.
Festival is in four days.

Re: 3.5e Batman Campaign (2.0) [2nd Thread]
The Seer's got a point.
I should amend here, in case I failed to make it clear, that the Bards are NOT supposed to be strictly good or evil. They're supposed to be like every other one of Gotham's institutions; corrupt, feckless, selfish, but comprised of both good and bad actors. The higher up the totem pole an actor is in a faction, usually the more complicit they are. The rank and file tend to take the brunt of the blowback.
Of all of the City's institutions, the Justicars, Blackgates, Alchemists and parts of the College are the *least* poorly run. Only the Justicars are led by someone who truly cares about honor above loyalty. The College and Blackgates are potential weathervanes but are mostly lawful.
The Alchemists you haven't run into yet.
