Carrion Crown: The Haunting of Harrowstone, Pt. II [IC]

Zauberei invests his time in devotion to Nethys in which he will study different spells he rarely uses in his spellbook, in hopes that new discoveries will help him against all these undead.

Just studying his own script will do little, but looking at his spellbook while cross-referencing with the Lorrimor Library will lead to some insights regarding necromancy.

Tippy and Angelo will do some research on the notable inmates using the prison records. Perhaps there is something that will help figure out how to best put them to rest.

There is much about the local lore of the area to learn from this.

Alexandru would like to continue his language lessons, if that’s an option.

At Alexandru's beheset, Marius can continue training the warrior in Skald, the language of the Ulfen peoples.

Hargrimm and Wren play cards as a team against Kendra and Mr. Evans, and are solidly beaten. During that time, Kendra spoils Paula while Marius is focused on Lexi.

That night, after everyone has gone to bed, there is a faint dinging sound above the heads of Marius and Zauberei!

Hargrimm has no changes to his morning routine. He solicits the party for ideas on how to avoid getting soaked when going down the ladder again.

"I don't mind being soggy once in a while, but I'd rather not be weighted down with wet gear if we can avoid it."

Before heading out Hargrimm will give a reading from his book of war prayers, but by this point he's clearly past the "good stuff". He'll also wait until just before the party sets out to cast Communal Endure Elements.

"A simple mundane solution is to bring a change of clothes", suggests Zauberei. "I can help you pick out some clothes that would fit you nicely."

Marius makes his usual alchemical preparations, but his physical warm-up routine seems slightly looser and faster paced than the day before.

When Zauberei mentions a change of clothes, Marius smiles but then frowns as he exclaims excitedly and then grows meeker with embarrassment, "That's a brilliant idea! Er... wait, my only other clothes are my research outfit. That just won't do for spelunking... Sorry. But yes, a capital idea for those who can do it."

"I am sure I can find good sets of clothing fit for travel for around a Gold each. I will make sure it fits. My family are tailors, so I know my way around a thread and needle. I can spot someone the money if they need. I have a few gold left", Zauberei offers.

So, are we going to get clothes, or go back to Harrowstone?

"A change of clothes sounds like a good idea," Angelo says. "I will gladly take assistance for purchasing, thank you."

Alexandru will go along for a clothes shop, if that's the plan...

It's back to the Ravengro General Store for clothing. Nothing special, as their doesn't appear to be a custom clothier/ tailor, and everything here is generally sized, not bespoke.

Of course, Wren is still in his threadbare, blood-and-other-stained, clothing and strange labcoat, but he isn't getting anything new.

So, who is purchasing what?

Zauberei will purchase a traveler's outfit. He will help pay for those that can not afford it. He will stuff it in his waterproof bag.

Marius will buy an artisan's outfit, assuming one that would be functional while adventuring can be found.

Marius can afford it if the outfit costs 1gp. If it costs more than that, he may need a loan from Zauberei to cover the cost.

Marius' plan will be to change into the artisan's outfit for the descent/water pit obstacle and then change back into his explorer's outfit once he's on dry land again.

Zauberei will purchase a traveler's outfit. He will help pay for those that can not afford it. He will stuff it in his waterproof bag.

This costs Zauberei 12 silver. He purchases it, as noted, putting it in his waterproof bag.

Marius will buy an artisan's outfit, assuming one that would be functional while adventuring can be found.

The artisan's outfit costs 12 silver. Marius pays 1 gold from his own, and borrows 2 silver from Zauberei for the rest. When he has the chance - likely on a stop back at the House before Harrowstone, since the house is on the way, he will change into that artisan's outfit.

Hargrimm will purchase a Traveler's Outfit as well.

12 silver paid.

Angelo will get a travelers outfit with Zauberei's help. "Thank you for the assistance."

Zauberei pays the full 12 silver cost.

Alexandru will just pick some cold weather clothes.

This will cost 96 silver, which Alexandru can afford.

Zauberei is good and starts to wonder how he is affording getting back to Absalom after clearing out this old prison.

"Now that is taken care of, let's continue exploring that charming prison. Shall we continue where we left off in that cozy basement?" Angelo suggests.

Hargrimm nods and says "Sounds like a plan to me."

And we're back in Harrowstone, in that lovely burnt out ruin that would make such a nice Scair BNB .... Harrowstone.

So, this time, we learned a little bit from before. That is to have the folding ladder drop down, but to have a guide rope attached past that so you don't have to drop on your bum in the water below.

And so, the vertical conga line of adventurers redescends into Harrowstone.

I need everyone to give me eight Climb checks. You don't need so many, as technically most of you only need make four Climb checks (differing DCs ... 2 on the ladder, 2 on the bare rope), but the extra rolls are to cover failed-not-fallen. Also, if you do anything like lower packs or polearms I'd need to know that, too.

Zauberei throws his staff down. And then, weighed down like he is, he practically throws himself down, having botched the descent right off the bat, and taking 6 mod +1 mod NL. Luckily, Hargrimm's protection ate up most of that. A grumpy, wet rat, he collects his staff, puts a light spell on it so he can see, and then tends the line for the next person.

With Tippy's Echo ability, Angelo will cast Mage armor on himself before climbing down (Tippy will then return as a Tattoo)

Angelo will fall at the transfer from ladder to rope (no damage).

Hargrimm will fall from the top (2 + 3 NL).

Alexandru will fall from the crossover at the rope as did his brother (4 mod NL).

Zauberei will change his clothes and begin laying out his wet clothes to at least drip dry. He will leave them there and pick up on the way out.

Hargrimm will fetch his staff, wring out his clothes, and then change into his new outfit. He folds his sodden outfit out of habit and leaves it near the water's edge.

Once everything is strapped into place again Hargrimm says "I hope we've nearly completed our goal, if only for convenience sake."
