Can everyone who's still intending to play please chime in again -- some haven't responded for a while in this thread, so I'm not clear right now if we have enough players. I was going to play here since initially I got a decent amount of interest, but if we're down to 3-4 players, then I'm not sure I can pull more interest from this board, and I'd rather move back to discord to try to pick up some additional players from the Palladium discord.

Unfortunately on Rifts it takes a world of time for the sheer number of books they are. That makes people lose interest.

If I had done a thief TW it would have taken me even longer.

You're not wrong... but I need at least 5-6 to get going, so if I can't scoop that up here, I'll have to go back to the Palladium discord. PbP has too high of an attrition rate to start with only 4 -- you can assume one of those at least will immediately stop posting, necessitating a new round of recruitment.

You can just tell me where to. I can play there. Not all the time, but I can take a look and post.

I'm interested, just haven't been checking OOts lately and went through about 7 different character ideas yesterday landing on two. I have the day off today so let's see what happens. I don't think I've read anything in South America, so both characters from outside of it.

    Dean Devil
D'norr Devilmen (pg72 Dbees of NA), with Special Forces OCC (pg 26 Mercenaries)

Rifted from North America as a teenager along with Mercenary Group, not really aware of South American situation.

Adventuring to help generate goodwill for mercs settling down, also to figure out more information.

Wounded at a similar young age and received a cybernetic eye and never learned any kind of magic.

    Knives
    Goblin Cobbler (PFRPG) Sportsman (Australia)

Grew up in Atlantis as a slave, before entering deadly arena games, not on his own will. Escaped because well no one knew he was a Cobbler.

Wants very much to be a Heavy hitter like, Thragg Bio-borg, Tar tattooed ogre, various juicers and crazies, borgs. As such obsessed with augmentation would probably accept anything doesn't value himself.

Somewhat poor understanding of things outside of the Arena.

Cool. Just a heads up. SA is over powered. Might want to get the armor you want and have the MD up by 75-90% up. Take a look at the weapons there.

I'm gonna bow out. You might want to keep an eye out, OP, for the Vajra spells someone selected out of Mystic China. They're basically Talismans which are even more prone to abuse, with a bunch of ambiguous language which includes the PPE cost and casting time of the spells. There's a pretty decent argument that someone can either know the spells to create them or the mudra to use them, but not both without changing classes.

You forgot to say about the shadow and space magic. In higher level would be able to crush people's hearts inside a certain range; Even inside power armor.
The real power of a mystic study is that he can learn and develop ANY magic from any list.

I'm going to have to say that is only true if the Game Master wants that to be a power of Mystic Study, which, in my opinion, it was never meant to. The very, very loose interpretation you are using to justify this is from a rule mainly meant to expand the limited HU2 spell list (of Invocation type spells) to incorporate other, more robust Invocation type spell lists from other games, IMO.

Certainly any spell listed in other Palladium role-playing games and sourcebooks can be used by characters in Heroes Unlimited, provided the Game Master gives his approval. Some minor conversion may be necessary, but most are directly compatible, especially those for the Palladium Fantasy series. Also note that Animate Dead, Agony, Domination, and other less than heroic spells are mainly included for use by villains.
Game Masters, offer players only enough magic that seems appropriate, fair, and which you feel comfortable with. Always remember, ultimately what's available in the way of magic, and everything else, is under your control. Be careful not to imbalance your game by being too generous (or too stingy for that matter). Powerhouse characters brimming with magic or technology can make some pretty dull or predictable adventures."
RAW, you are limited specifically to the spell list in HU2 unless the GM says otherwise.

Will give you a point there. The GM should give the Go/No go on that.

I also had to be more clear: He can learn all invocations spells as long as somebody teaches him or gets a scroll with it (or gains a level). The any spell would be for non invocation that he studies.

Still will counter it by saying the feature would be moth if:
You didn't have the table of catastrophic failure. That simple table, that can give you your price, a slap on the wrist or a complete failure(plot hook).
You need to have armor. Be on a ley line to have more PPE to cast mystic portal(defend yourself), have friends with you or just say go to hell and ley line shift out of there.

Again, GM has the final word.

I can't tell that character creation is finished. I'm still waiting -- last time I asked for a round up I only got a couple of replies so it's not clear who's really here. I've decided I'm going to do this on Discord.
