Grey leans a bit to better listen to what Millie has to say, nods a bit in agreement and then says to the merchant with a low voice "My associate thinks that whatever time you would like to leave the inn, it might be better to leave it earlier as a precaution." he points at the Elan with his thumb "I say she has it right, just so we could better deal with whatever predicament we may face on the road and put you on that ship safe and sound." that said, he nods again to Millie to show he appreciated her input.

"Fine by me." Grey says in agreement and stands up "Going to share the news with the others. Stay safe, Duncan." and that said, he goes back to the table the others are sitting at, smiles at the maid (if she's still there, of course; he had learned the hard way to always be friendly to the serving staff) and joins them "So, found anything useful?" he asks them in a somewhat chipper voice "I got us a job, three days from now. Wage is lousy, but it shouldn't take much time and seems easy enough."

Rose shakes her head a little. "Haven't found out much. Whatever is going on locally isn't following a pattern I've noticed yet."

She leans in a little, curious. "What sort of work did you find?"

Grey grins and gives Rose a friendly pat on the shoulder "Thought you'd never ask!" before nodding towards the merchant he spoke to earlier "Fellow there - name's Duncan, by the way - needs some muscle; he has a ship he wants to board, so he needs an escort. We take him to the port, put him on the ship's deck and collect our money. Should be easy enough." he shrugs, trying to show some confidence in their collective ability to carry through with this "Pay is seventy gold...uh, toads? No, frogs. Seventy gold frogs. Not much but job should take a few hours at worst."

"Working is always better than spending money." Amelie says conspiratorially. "But I do feel we should find out as much as we can about whatever is cursing this town, too many deaths...I can't believe that man dying AND his son...sounds fishy to me, perhaps the boy saw something he wasn't supposed to."

Ted nods. "A port might be good to visit. We might find out more about this world. The gold is alright but won't be much use in this town if this keeps up and the shopkeepers are all dead."

Realizing that he does not have any of the lesser coins on him, Ted buys another round of drinks with a gold piece and tips the waitress with a silver.

Katha speaks up as she takes Teds money.

"Alright, last round before we close up!"

She looks at the gold coin Ted gave her with curiosity and amazement. She quickly brings back 7 silver snakes and 14 copper crocodiles for Ted in change before bringing back drinks "to go" for everyone.

Rose checks on Luc and then responds, "Well, maybe we can do a bit of both with this job; earn some local coin and find out more about the curse. I'm up for it."

not sure about this curse or what ever is going on in this town, but this job of escorting this man from here to a boat is bound to not be a quick easy thing, the man has made a lot of noise about wanting to leave for a bit and many may have heard this, and any of those may have said something to any other with the intent of ambushing the man to gain his property, these would be bandits know the next boat's arrival is soon, they know the most likely routes that one could take to reach the boat. We should see if there is a map of the area all the way to the boat dock, this way we can have an idea of potential ambush spots. Personally I would have this man leave no where near his time of departure in the morning, I would have him leave much earlier. this would allow for not taking the obvious roads as well as if we encounter anything.

Looking a bit chagrinned at having made a minor faux pas (regarding the funeral), Cheyanne eats quietly but with apparent satisfaction. She watches a bit and nods when the word of a job is announced. "Do you think it would be well received to attend the funeral?" she asks the others, making it a point to speak loudly enough while Katha is nearby to include her in the question. "None of us knew the boy, but we are guests in town. Seems like it might be polite, but I wouldn't want to intrude if we wouldn't be welcome..."

"Heard about this funeral. Might be a good idea to go take a look." Grey chimes in "I mean, might happen something that could help us find a solution." he then nods towards the egress "But before that I would appreciate if we could make a quick stop to the General Store - daggers are good if you're fighting in an alley, a spear might be more useful now."

"I'm sure we'd all welcome anyone coming to the funeral. The whole town will be there. So all the shops are about to close til the funeral is over."

"Well, then I better hurry, I want that spear." Grey says and stands up "Thanks, Katha." he smiles at the maid, being friendly could definitely not hurt if they have to stay for some time here. He then gestures at the others "You're welcome to join me, otherwise I'll see you at the funeral."

As Ted and Grey step into the opening of the Full Moon Inn, looking across the way you can see a Burley Man, a Woman, and their two children closing up the shop directly across the road from the Inn. They look to be dressed nicely for peasants, though the man has a much nicer outfit that is not fitting for a peasant, more likely a former adventurer, or someone who married downward. Noticing you the man nods towards you as he gathers his family.

Rose considered cleaning herself up a bit if she were attending the funeral, but then she remembered the warning about using magic within the town, so she opted to just make do with mundane methods, like combing her hair (though she keeps her hat on). She stays with the main group while Ted and Grey do their errand.

"Well, of course the shop is closed." Grey says in a facetious tone, waving towards the man that nodded at them; still one could very well feel he's quite bothered but seems to prefer to keep a low profile. He nods to Ted and points at the family "Guess they're going at the funeral. Let's follow, want to have a look at the place before the others arrive."

Cheyanne finishes her food, cleans herself up, and thanks Katha as they leave. She nods in the direction of the family by way of greeting as she looks around. "I'm afraid I might be underdressed for a funeral. I've only got my monastery's uniform, I'm afraid..."

After a few moments of preparations, clothing changes as nessecary, and adjustments your group heads out of the Inn and to the Churchyard along with the barmaids, owners of the Inn and their children.

Solemn faces gaze at you suspiciously, but no one says a word. The villagers soon return their attention to the priest who stands over a coffin wrapped with heavy chains. The priest’s booming voice echoes throughout the churchyard.

“Friends and family, we mourn the untimely death of Jeremiah dGris,” he laments. “Let us take comfort in the fact that he goes to a better place, and let us pray that his eternal rest is peaceful and without incident. Jeremiah, you will be missed, but you will not be welcome here again. Depart this plane and go to the next world with our blessing.”

The priest continues his liturgy, even though a muffled bang causes him a moment’s pause. The villagers flinch but quickly regain their composure. The bang sounds again from within the coffin. The coffin rocks back and forth, but the priest and the crowd ignore it.

Grey silently greets the others and patiently waits for the ceremony to start. He certainly half-expected something to happen but even he is startled by...whatever it is that is trying to open the coffin from the inside; but since everyone is (understandly) focused on the priest, he looks around just to be sure that nothing dangerous is about to join the funeral.

When she sees the chains on the coffin Cheyanne looks concerned immediately. She looks around at her companions first, to see if any of the others notice, and makes eye contact with Grey first. With a tilt of her head she tries to direct his attention towards the unusual burial before realizing he's seen it too. "Should we do something about this? This can't be normal, can it?" she whispers to him intently. The monk then looks past her companions to the villagers, hoping to see some indication that this isn't what they expected.

At the muffled sound of something...animated?...inside Cheyanne gasps audibly. "Whoa!" she blurts out before stopping herself and trying to regain control over herself. She's not as good at it as the villagers, leaving her shocked and worried. "Um, that's not alright! If the man is dead, he shouldn't be fighting to get out. If he's not dead, than why is he being buried? And if he's undead, shouldn't something more be done?" she asks the other PCs in a whisper that she is sure they can all hear but hopes isn't heard too far beyond.

"Don't know how locals could react if we just stroll there and open the casket." Grey whispers back and again looks around "I say we should stay put and have a chat with the priest after the funeral." he clears his voice and leans a bit so his whispers are barely audible "Besides, if we really - really - want to have a look inside that, it would be more prudent to wait for darkness. Most of us can see well at night, these people should be blind instead." that said, he shrugs and gestures to them to wait and be patient.

Rose agrees, glancing to make sure Luc isn't going to wander off or something.

"We should get closer in case it does get out and it's hungry," she whispers back, motioning to where they could shuffle to get closer.

Ted expected something strange to happen, but it still startles him.

He resists the instinct to draw his axe ... for now.

"Wait for darkness, then."
