Re: Question: how is the creative commons srd better than the ogl srd
You'll want to discuss the specifics of which is better for your situation with a lawyer. Rather than offer advice however, I'll quote WotC's own words on the subject:
"This Creative Commons license makes the content freely available for any use. We don't control that license and cannot alter or revoke it. It's open and irrevocable in a way that doesn't require you to take our word for it. And its openness means there's no need for a VTT policy. Placing the SRD under a Creative Commons license is a one-way door. There's no going back."
One key difference between the two is that, as of this writing, only the 5.1 SRD is under Creative Commons. If you're planning to publish content using a different SRD - such as content for 3.5 or OSRIC - the only open license currently available from WOTC for those is OGL 1.0a.Plague Doctor by Crimmy

Re: Question: how is the creative commons srd better than the ogl srd
The easy explanation is that the SRD was free to use under the terms of ogl, which wizard controlled. The creative Commons license is a different license not held by wotc , but by a non profit.
Originally wizards simply didn't alter the ogl, and it's unclear if they thought they could alter it. Altering it wouldn't get rid of the stuff already published but it could stop future development.
Now that it's ccl, they can't alter it.
That's pretty much it.
Bear in mind that the CCL only licenses the 5e SRD in this wayMake Martials CoolAgain.
