The transport flies over the droideka and starts opening fire, distracting them and drawing their attacks.

Although Coralej is unable to lift the clone with the Force, with the combined assistance from Ilyene and the other clones, and the distraction by the airborne LAAT/i, you're all able to get on board the second transport. By now, the four transports have made short work of the CIS forces. Two transports circle while two load up the clones from the other group, switching off when they're full. Sadaki is the last to board, and orders them to a location in the woods about 800 meters away. There, you discover a small, squat structure, which is bombarded from above by all four transports, quickly reducing it to rubble.

"Off-site storage facility with a backup company of droids," he shouts over the sound of the bombardment, "apparently missed on the first pass."
The Republic air units leave nothing but a smoking crater in the side of the mountain, marked only by small guttering fires.

Your mission a success, your unit is transferred back to the Republic Ground Planetary Command Center to rest and recover from your injuries, while the operation to drive the CIS from the planet continues, far away.

Okay, that's the end of Mission 1. Everyone advances to level 2.
The clones will each pick up a skill focus. In addition, you have the opportunity to name any of the three clones that don't yet have one. If you do so, they also gain a non-heroic level or a feat.

If anyone wants to explore, RP, or learn anything between missions, let me know in the OOC and we will work it out.

The group rests and recovers from their first mission. You’re not told what information was gleaned from the encrypted files you recovered, not even whether any information was gained, as it is deemed classified.

The Jedi mostly keep to themselves, meditating or training or doing whatever they do. The clones assigned to your squad take advantage of the rate downtime by enrolling in some of the Republic’s training courses, especially Odi, who seems uniquely driven to improve himself and stand out from his brothers.

A few weeks pass and you are recalled to your capital ship, the Liberator, and you awake to a low hum in the deck place: hyperspace. When you check your data pad, you discover you have been summoned to a briefing by Commander Sadaki Kirusai, the Jedi who recruited you…

The briefing room is standard republic, and all four clones have arrived before you, damaged armor replaced where necessary, though some pieces now sport scratches or scuff marks from your previous engagement. The Jedi has yet to arrive.

Sadaki Kirusai, his long dark hair tied back in a braid which hangs down the back of his Jedi robes, enters the briefing room.

"Good morning everyone," he said, "We're on our way to the Outer Rim, to the Bandulu system, where remnants of several Separatist fleets and droid battalions have retreated and are currently undergoing repairs and reorganization."

"For this offensive, will be attached to the 501st Legion under General Skywalker," Kirusai said, "While the fleet engages the orbital defenses, we will shuttle down with Skywalker's troops, to the surface, to attack the vulnerable droid repair factories and damaged units before they can be brought back up to full combat readiness."

As he speaks, a hologram appears showing the orbital defenses and the location of the Separatist base on the surface, with the droid factories inside.

"Skywalker's primary target will be the shield generator to allow air support, and to capture the Techno Union leader Amvarha Russk," Kirusai said as the hologram zoomed in on the main objectives, "our task will be to assist the 501st in the destruction of the Separatist forces, and to locate a VIP, Dr. Doran Kradu, a Republic weapons specialist captured by the Separatists."

The hologram shifted to the far side of the base, to the detention center.

"He may currently be forced to assist the Separatists with their repairs, and upgrades, and our objective is to locate and recover him, preferably unharmed," Kirusai said.

    "Any questions?" the Jedi asks.

"The detention center is here, and the droid repair factories are here," the Jedi says as the map zooms and moves, "he is likely to be at one of these two locations. Once we are inside, we will probably need to access the Separatist network to get a better idea."

"Dr. Kradu is one of the brightest up and coming minds at Sienar Fleet Systems, and already possesses multiple certifications in ship and fighter design," Sadaki replied.
A bio of the VIP came up on the hologram, of a relatively young dark-haired human wearing what looks like some kind of tech enhancing goggles on his forehead.

"Although he is not working on any cutting edge Republic tech, he would be able to speed up their repairs and if so inclined, he could probably create an assembly to enhance the droids' weapons or targeting systems, or maybe even add deflector shields," Sadaki said, "that being said, he probably isn't too happy about being kidnapped and held against his will, so we won't know until we get there."

The rest of the briefing is spent going over the layout of the base. It is set on a pair of large plateaus against a mountain, which makes it difficult to assault from one side, and makes for an uphill battle on the other. The two plateaus are connected by a prefab bridge. It is likely the bridge will be destroyed during the assault, by the Separatists, to make it more difficult to cross from one side to the other. The Jedi suspect there are tunnels burrowed beneath the plateaus to allow transport of droids and vehicles back and forth, without the bridge.

The northern plateau houses the droid factories and command center, while the southern plateau hosts the shield generator, non-droid barracks and other living quarters, including the detention center. The Republic’s plan is to attack the command center first and draw Separatist forces away from the shield generator, allowing a second, smaller group to infiltrate and disable it, and allow close air support.

Your squad is part of the (1d2)[2] attack group, and will be attached to a squad cobbled together from seasoned 501st clones whose respective squads were decimated in prior campaigns.

You have enough time to check your gear ahead of joining the 501st at the main hangar assembly area. If there is anything you would like to leave behind on the command ship, now is your chance.

The group heads to the hangar to their designated loading zones, Sadaki Kirusai leading the way.

The clones of the 501st are clearly far more seasoned, with decorative etchings and customized armor specifications, and some obvious weapon enhancements. Some whispering among the veteran clones can be heard until their clone lieutenant gives them a glance, then he turns and salutes to Kirusai.

“Lieutenant CT-5597, Jesse,” the lieutenant said, and Kirusai responds with his own.

“Jedi Commander Kirusai Sadaki, at ease lieutenant,” he said.

The clones immediately relax and start checking their weapons, though there are several curious glances to your group. Jesse and Kirusai start chatting a bit, and they’re not too secretive about it if anyone cares to listen in. Jesse eyes the party, obviously not clones.

“Last minute addition is a little irregular, sort of like this squad. The men are used to working with General Skywaker or Commamder Tano,” Jesse said, “the general said something about a special request, is there anything more you can say? It’ll be easier to work together if we know the secondary objective.”

“Only that it was a special request from governor Tarkin, and approved by the Supreme Chancellor. I’ll brief you on the details when we’re closer to the target,” Kirusai replied.

“Well, I won’t say no to a Jedi on the squad, that’s for sure,” Jessie said with a small grin.

The reception from the clones of the 501st is a bit more frosty.

“Shinies, we don’t need ‘em,” one of the clones whispered.

“Who are you calling shiny?” Odi asked.

“You four, you’re obviously fresh off Kamino,” one of the veterans said, “do you have any idea who we are? We’ve been fighting together since Geonosis.”

“Everyone knows the 501st, but we’re not shinies. We’ve competed missions,” Odi said.

“Yeah? How many?” the 501st clone asked.

Odi shuts his mouth, obviously embarrassed to say ‘one’.

“That’s what I thought. Shiny,” the veteran says as he smacks the power pack into his rifle, “make sure you stay out of our way, maybe you’ll live to learn a thing or two.”

Your four clones look a bit demoralized after the exchange, and Jesse and Sadaki appear engrossed in conversation and haven’t noticed.

The conversation dies down from there and everyone goes back to minding their own business. Before long the announcement comes to board landing craft, and you feel the ship decelerate from hyperspace. All business, you load into the cargo hold of what looks like a commercial medium transport. Strapped to the floor is a Corellian hover lorry, the kind used to haul goods overland. On closer inspection it looks like it has had some modifications, with durasteel welded to the frame for extra protection. You can strap in with the clones or join the Jedi up in the cockpit.

Once the ship launches, the clones are all business. The transport flies through space for a few minutes and shakes slightly on entry into the atmosphere, then you land and the cargo bay doors open, revealing open scrubland beneath a dark, star-filled sky.

The clones start unstrapping, and the 501st clones start loading up into the hover lorry.

"This here is Bertha," one of the veteran clones says as he pats the side of the lorry, "she's been with us for a few months now. We use her for ground transport where we're not going in guns blazing."

Assuming you load up on the lorry with the rest of the clones, you're soon off, headed towards the south plateau.
"Right," Jessie says, "our job is to disable the shield generator and allow close air support. General Skywalker is already assaulting the command center, so the Separatists should have sent reinforcements to the north plateau already. There should be minimal resistance except for static defenses like turrets and the like."

    He glanced to Sadaki Kirusai.

    The Jedi cleared his throat.
"We're going to split up part of the way through the city. We've been tasked to recover a VIP, Dr. Doran Kradu, who is likely in the detention center. We'll meet you at the shield generator after we've secured him," he said.

The lorry rumbles to a stop, and you hear a few words exchanged at the edge of the base. Then there are shouts and the sound of blaster fire.
"Blast, they're on to us," Jessie says, "weapons loud boys!"

By the time you make it out of the lorry, the 501st clones have already disembarked and disposed of four B-2 super battle droids at the checkpoint.
"I would have liked to stay hidden until we were inside the city, but we have no choice," Sadaki says as he disables the gate shield, "we'll keep the lorry for the wounded, and everyone else, we're on foot. Let's go."
He starts jogging towards the center of the base. Explosions echo in the distance from the north plateau as the other group assaults the command center.

"You heard him boys, we're hoofing it," Jessie says, "let's move, the general's counting on us."

You make it about two hundred metres, a quarter of the distance to the shield generator building, when the rooftops around you come alive with droids.
"Ambush!" one of the clones yells. A mortar strikes the road just in front of the lorry, and blaster fire erupts all around you, peppering the ground and buildings.

Chaos erupts as clones dive for cover and immediately start returning blaster fire.
    "Cover fire!"
    "Watch that rooftop!"

Sadaki leaps onto the hood of the lorry, blue lightsaber ignited like a beacon, and deflects blaster fire away from it.

"Get to the roof, we need to flank the droids up there before we get pinned down!" he says to your group.

There are a pair of two-story buildings with droids firing down at the squad, one in front of you, and one to your right. You definitely cannot stay in the street, as you will be blasted to smithereens in a matter of seconds.

OOC:So this relies on two assumptions, one is that google is right about two story building being 20ft high, the second is that it only takes one move to get inside one.

Coralej draws upon the force and waves a hand towards the the rooftop ahead, engulfing a small section in sparks and flames, and flees inside the building to the right.

The building appears to be a residence, perhaps for important ranking Separatists. moving up the steps behind Coralej taking advantage of any cover offered but maintaining a line of sight to the droids, aiming at them as they collide with each other..

As you call down the steps, the droids stop firing and turn to take notice of you, but you're too quick and send one directly into the other, knocking them both to the left away from the window and out of sight. You hear some shuffling as droids move away from the edge of the balcony and against the walls of the building, next to the windows.

    Spoiler
    Show
there are currently no droids in line of sight.
