Is there a term for (social) identity WITHIN a group?
I thought that "social identity" was the term I was looking for until I looked up the definition. Is there a term for identity within a group? Intragroup differentiation, rather than intragroup commonality. For example, how one sees oneself in terms of ones role within a community. I'm terrible at googling, and none of my searches are turning anything up.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Is there a term for (social) identity WITHIN a group?
Not an expert by any means, but I would have thought "role" pretty much encapsulates the concept?
I'm pretty much the opposite of concise. If I fail to get to the point, please ask me and I'm happy to (attempt to) clarify.

"Subset", perhaps? As in "A subset of the fandom".
Depending on the context you might also use "clique", "cabel" "circle", "faction"Warning: This posting may contain wit, wisdom, pathos, irony, satire, sarcasm and puns. And traces of nut.

Would "subgroup" fit what you're going for?
