Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
There's not a lot we can learn from the flips at this point. I'll try to break the choices down.
From my perspective, if we kill AV -> Batcathat (or vice versa). Then town has a 100% chance of winning. We will have eliminated everyone who could have killed Bladescape, barring some major unforeseen bastardry from Illven.
But if the other town members can be induced to doubt me, then our chances are lowered. The thought may be that if we kill me, then we can figure out whether my information was correct. But the problem is, then we'll have lost a day and we'll be in LYLO with two possible wolves: AV and Batcathat. This will give Town a 50% chance at victory.
It may seem smart to kill me to see if my information is correct, but you all need to judge for yourselves whether there's really any reason to doubt me to that extent. There's a high opportunity cost in going that route.
We do need to get our votes in before EoD so we don't end up with a useless tiebreaker result like killing Xum or Persolus. They shouldn't at all be on the table at this stage.

Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
Issue is that your perspective isn't any help to the rest of us. It's only an opportunity cost if you're town and truthful, and none of us can know that. If you're lying scum, you've basically set up perfect back-to-back mislynches where town refuses to look at scum!you until you've already won. We can at least agree that Xum and Pers are off the table - Xum being a trackproof devil doesn't sit right with me, hence why I townlean em, and Pers' claim makes more sense than being trackproof since it explains why there's a killing missing in a game with no baners. So from my perspective, I've gotta decide between two possible worlds:
1) Scumteam started with a chat-maker and a chat-maker-detector, the former of whom is weaker than their town counterpart and the latter of whom is basically just a passive power being informed about two players (BW and myself). Additionally, town apparently has both a tracker/watcher lover pair and an extra tracker just in case.
2) You're a wolf!tracker who's spent the game distancing. That's why Cae voted you D2, and why you jumped on his wagon last-minute. That's why you were quick to vote Cazero since you figured he was getting dunked immediately, and why he went along with his own yeet D4.
I'll also be clear: the second one still feels kinda weak to me. I can WIFOM about it, but I actually like your voting record. I think you've been pretty open and honest trying to catch people doing stuff. I think it'd be really weird to see a wolf who can track people. But it is miles less weird than a game setup where town is "oops all info powers" and wolfteam is obsessed with private chats instead of tripling down on anti-info. I'm getting pretty tired of arguing stuff though, so I'm not likely to be back tomorrow regardless of today's result.Olive_SophiaLast edited by AvatarVecna; 2023-08-24 at 07:30 PM.

Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
That sounds about right.
But I have been completely open and honest with the team. I provided all the information I got, which led to everyone taking a more open information stance. That was ultimately good for town. I wasn’t doing much day 1 and 2. But during days 3 and 4 I was relentlessly hunting Cazero, even when others didn’t suspect him. That would be a bit far to go for distancing if he was my last remaining ally.
And I changed my vote away from Persolus once I gained my new information. That was before he claimed or provided us with any answer to his mysteriousness. There’d really be no reason to do that if I was a wolf. If I was a wolf, I’d be trying to blend in and lean into a mislynch, rather than calling so much attention to myself. But it is what it is. If you all feel that you have to lynch me, you’d better be thinking really hard about who to choose tomorrow once I flip town. (AV or Batcathat)
I don’t know for sure who it is between them, but I’m sticking with my AV lean for now.

Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
To quote the inimitable Snowblaze:
Screams into the abyss
So my picks are AV, BCH, or OS
OS flipping town gives us a 50/50 between AV and BCH
OS flipping scum is likely a win
AV flipping town means we don't know at all if OS is setting up for double mislynch, or BCH is a lying liar that lies
Vice versa for BCH flipping town - is OS the evil mastermind or is AV?
I do sort of have to make a choice now, and as annoying as it is because I think she's town, I would want to testOlive_Sophia.
While I think the chances of catching scum is minimal, if we don't we're likely going to end up with F3 being either myself or Persolus, and a choice of OS/AV or OS/BCH, and that's a situation I'd prefer not to have to solve at F3.
Btw one of the reasons I was defending Persolus was not just because of the explanation of the missing nightkill, but also that he provided me with his power explanation during the night, when it was very easy for me to test (and in fact I had said in thread that he was shortlisted for scrying). For Wolf!Persolus that is the boldest of moves, and it would have required wolves to actively holster a kill N2 (if they even can) because so far, no kill-blocking powers sighted, so of all of us Persolus is the most town imo and should be given the tiebreak tomorrow if he's the survivor of the night.
I will be trying to scry Olive (if she's not today's yeet) or BCH - if I survive the night, possibly the pokemon name might be a giveaway for evil intent, or I might be able to catch someone in a lie about their powers.

Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
I should be off to bed soon (though as always, there's a chance I'll drop back in if I fail at sleeping) so I really need to get a vote in and I still don't really like any of the options.
I suppose I'll go with Olive_Sophia. Barring some bastardry, Xum or Persolus can't be wolves without Olive also being one and if it's AV, Olive's flip should confirm that (to me, at least). So while I don't have particularly strong reasons to suspect her (or anyone else), I think she does make the most sense.

Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
I'd be 100% on board with a tie between AV and OS, and having Persolus have the last word or leaving it up to chance.

AvatarVecna for the 2/2 tie and ball in Persolus' court. Neither AV nor OS can switch to save themselves, which is good, and if BCH blinks, well... Guess who's gonna get the yeet tomorrow.

Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
Yeah, that might not be a bad idea, though I do think flipping Olive is more likely to give good info if she's not the wolf. Though as mentioned, I'm off to bed until after EoD so I'll leave my vote where it is.
Anyhow, now I'm off to bed and will hopefully wake up with town victorious.

Re: Mafioso Pokemon edition. REVENGE for Blastoise.
With the yeeting of AvatarVecna did the remaining wolves make their move.
Before you could even turn away from the yeeting station, more then a dozen NPC's were fainted on the ground.
"Oh no! Get Squirtle to safety." Did Xumtill the Slowbro commanded. "Psychic!" He shouted out, throwing Persolus the Froslass to the ground.
But Persolus did not faint, and Batcathat the Darkrai responded with a Dark pulse that did faint Xumtill.
****
Olive Sophia did lead Squirtle away over Squirtle's valiant protests.
"You know, Squirtle. Maybe you can help." She started but it was only a trick. After a sleep powder to make sure Squirtle didn't die in vain, she turned to the NPC Pelipper.
"Deliver him!" She demanded.
"To where?"
"Safety." She said before going to buy Pelipper time.
Fainting a heroine's death for Squirtle.

Some of the bastard mechanics were.
1) Alpha picks, and wolves get to actively pick their role from several options [No duplicates of course.]
2) There exists a cultable townie that depending on what I roll could have different ways to cult.
3) If there is an entirely new player (No Olive doesn't qualify.) They will be paired with an experienced player as a mason pair. (Mason's still could have been rolled randomly but weren't in this game.)
4) Tiebreak is randomly determined, unless Squirtle is in the game and votes for one of the tiees
My mistakes.
1) I absolutely should have re-rolled Plaid's role. Without two active power neutrals in the game, it wasn't fair to them. (I also think there was some decree of bad luck on his part. Someone like blade or Vecna were far more likely to be targetted)
2) Screwing up Olive's targeting N1
3) Waiting till part of the way into D1 to give town and wolves their victory conditions. But considering it was nothing unusual, not really a big deal.Avatar by Honest Tiefling
