Baldur's Gate 3 questions
I have a few questions I couldn't find answers to, so if anyone knows anything, please share! :)
Firstly, is there any confirmation as to whether Larian plans to include Random Rolls for Ability Scores in a future update or potential expansion?
Secondly, is there any plans to increase the level cap to 20 at any point in the future? Obviously for the time being, 12 levels is quite enough to mess around with, but as a D&D buff I would prefer if the game supported max 20, so I was slightly disappointed. Please be mindful of what you say in public; sadly not all can handle sarcasm or The Internet Credibility.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 questions
No to both.
The rolls were avoided simply because they knew it would likely lead more to people spam rolling to get good stats than a true randomness. I'm sure a mod will provide the option soon.
For the other, they were asked about DLC or Expansions and said they hadn't even talked about it and that designing encounters around the level 13-20 powers is a VERY different thing from the 1-12 adventure they have set up. At level 14 Caster get access to things like Planeshift and Simulacrum and keeps escalating to level 17 where you end up with Wish and Shapechange.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 questions
I imagine there will probably be a Baldur's Gate 4 that covers levels 13-20, the same way Baldur's gate 1 and 2 had the 1-12, 13-20 split.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 questions
Note that we have a dedicated BG3 thread if you have more questions!
This; people would just keep rolling until they got 3+ 18s (or all 18s) and go to town. 5e's bounded accuracy makes this even worse, most of the DCs in the game are in the 10-15 range.
I agree - though I expect this would take the more modern approach of being an expansion/DLC (similar to NWN + SoU + HotU) moreso than a numbered sequel like BG4.Plague Doctor by Crimmy

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 questions
(X) Doubt
I'm level 4 and have come across a DC 30 and the average range at this point is DC 15-20 for many checks.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 questions
I would agree with 10-15 for Act One, at least. I have a vague idea that I had one DC over 20 and I see 20s for things that should be hard but I also see a bunch of 5s. I think 10-15 on average sounds accurate.
I've done most Act One stuff and am progressing to Act Two

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 questions
Check difficulty might very well ramp up after the section I'm at, but that doesn't exactly undermine the point I'm making. In fact, it would make people scumrolling for multiple 16-18s more popular, not less.
BG4 getting announced would be a pretty big headline. I think squandering that buzz on a glorified expansion to BG3 would be a mistake, but stranger things have happened.Plague Doctor by Crimmy
