    eek Gumroad and Paypal?

I had to blow a thick layer of dust off my account.. been a while since I last visited these forums!

    Anyway, to my problem:

I still read the comic and I wanted to support Rich by buying a few digital books from Gumroad. I bought a few OOTS books in the past there and wanted to complete my collection. Strangely enough, the Paypal option on GITP's Gumroad is completely gone. I emailed Gumroad support and they suggested that the creator can disable Paypal.

I did a search on these forums but I can't find any mention of Paypal stopped being supported. Anyone know what's going on? I would love to buy some more books but I do not have a credit card (it's not common to have one where I live).

    Thanks for any assistance!

Maybe try contacting someone about it?

What did you search for? I searched for posts by The Giant containing Gumroad and easily found this:

The TL;DR version is that if someone from Europe pays Gumroad via PayPal then it's the vendor (ie. Rich) who has to handle VAT; since he understandably doesn't want to do that, he disabled PayPal.

Sheriff: This seems to be resolved. Paypal payments were shut off entirely (because there was no way to shut them off for just EU purchasers) when accepting them became a VAT tax and paperwork burden beyond what Rich found reasonable.
