Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
I'm only two episodes in, but so far it's looking good. I'd compare it favorably to the movie version, which was pretty good too (I've read at least part of the original comic, but to be honest I don't really remember it well enough to compare).
Speaking of new shows, I've also watched the first episode of "A Murder at the End of the World" and it's looking pretty promising.

Hey Peelee, you're an expert on dragons. I have a question to ask you. Have you ever heard of a turkey dragon?

Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
My family's doing Thanksgiving tomorrow instead of Thursday since that works better with everyone's schedules.
We're getting ready to make the Cranberry sauce in a minute or so but we weren't able to get a fresh orange for juice and zest and we misplaced the recipe we used last year so we're not sure on the exact measure for cinnamon and eveything we look up, including the website we got the recipe from last year, is suggesting anywhere from 1/8th teaspoon to 1/4th teaspoon but I measured it out and that seems like less than we used last year so hopefully it all turns out okay.
Grandma commented that while it was good, it was also really sour, not sweet enough, which is really weird since she usually complains that things are too sweet, so this year we're using a brown sugar substitute instead of a white sugar substitute. Not only will it be sweater but the molasses flavor should play well with the cinnamon.
Edit: If nothing else, it smells good.Last edited by Rater202; 2023-11-22 at 12:56 AM.

I hate riding my bike in fresh snow. I can deal with packed snow or ice, but when the snow is loose it's like bicycling on a damn beach.

Oh joy, a riveting rendezvous where we generously grace each other with the marvels of trivial discussions—because who needs coherent threads when we can bombard everyone with our random musings?

Update: Operation Premature Turkey was a success.
And apparently, since we started making our own cranberry sauce everyone decided that they liked cranberry sauce after all because everybody ate some.
It's good but it feels like something was missing, but everyone else liked i so I must be doing something right.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
I've already had thanksgiving dinner tonight with my mother and brother.
my brother had a funny little story about his job where he works in architectural construction and is currently doing a job for WotC, and they constructed this room made out of this special charred wood the method of making originated from Japan, and the CEO just goes into the room, declares that they hate it and its too dark and then left and my brother had a laugh about it because he and the company he works at just gets paid more because of it. also because he's working the job my brother he apparently just keeps getting MTG cards for free, they just hand booster packs to him and I'm a tiny bit jealous.

Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
In my local friend group discord chat, people were saying happy Thanksgiving. So i opened the gif search and typed in turkey. Ans laughed for a good five minutes at that gif. I figured i had to spread the joy.
Spoiler: I also found another.
ETA: I don't even know why y'all looked, i clearly said it was not a turkey dragon.Last edited by Peelee; 2023-11-23 at 12:43 PM.

The only thing I know about American Thanksgiving this year is that the new Luffy balloon got his hat popped by a tree. So sad, poor guy.

Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
American Thanksgiving is the day that Americans remember the time that some religious weirdoes who started an illegal colony in the New World because they ran out of beer while fleeing England didn't ****ing die because the native peoples were willing to show them how to grow native crops.
We do it by eating food that they almost certainly had no access to in excess and arguing about politics.
We always have it on the third Thursday of November as the next day is the official start of the Christmas shopping season and back during the Great Depression starting that too late or too early meant that our Economy would not survive.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
Rater you're my friend and I love you but I specified "this year" for a reason. Thank you, though, I didn't know the "third Thursday of November" bit!
Everyone always says turkey is the traditional Thanksgiving meal, but people also say turkey is the traditional Christmas meal, and I'm sick of it. Why the worst and most difficult to cook properly bird???Last edited by LaZodiac; 2023-11-23 at 01:11 PM.

Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
I actually overlooked the "this year" part. Sorry.
Also, brain fart, it's the fourth Thursday of the month.
Turkey being the traditional Thanksgiving Meal is propaganda. The Pilgrims didn't eat turkey at their harvest festival, though they did eat several unspecified birds, the main dish was most likely deer.
As For Christmas... People argue about it all the time. Traditional in England would be goose or duck, though in the US people often eat Ham. Other countries have their own traditions.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Re: Fyraltari's Furiously Farcical Random Banter Thread #247
I almost did too and hit reply to cast my doubt. Only noticed it when the text box popped up.
Also, turkey is the traditional meal. That's different than saying "it's what was eaten in the 1600s"but that's all propaganda anyway and its not like harvest feasts are a US-only deal.Last edited by Peelee; 2023-11-23 at 01:22 PM.
