Lost Mine of Phandelver - Gundren's Ward

With the nasties being distracted by the barbarians, Smelkie scuttles up to a big stalagmite and puts his rope around it. He tosses it down the fissure and tries to get in touch with the others quietly.
If needed he will climb a bit down, just so he can relay what is happening above with the bugbear and the goblins

Frowning at his teammates apprehension, Myrus takes a long look at the creek and the best way to cross other than the bridge then he turns to follow the others, "Hopefully they've found the captives."

"Doesn't sound like it," says Yorrel, listening to Smelkie's report. "But there are goblins up there, so there must be some connection to the rest of the cave. Better to climb here than risk getting washed away.

"Myrus, you want to go up first? You're strong enough to pull up those of us who can't climb so well."

The bugbear glares at Sigrún If you work for King Grol, you can go tell him that wasn't part of the deal, but if he wants the humie, he can come back for some soup when the cooks are done with him. he reaches next to his makeshift chair and lifts up a morningstar Now get. Out. The goblins are looking back and forth between you and the bugbear, unsure how the posturing will resolve.

The rope is secured and Smelkie, more familiar with the climb now, easily makes his way down to alert the rest of the party to the developments and back up using the rope to brace. With the rope and the chimney to brace against, the entire party can climb up with relative ease. It is now a question of what order you will take your climb

As the Bugbear lifts the Morningstar, Netish has an idea of where the conversation is going. She pulls her sword off of her back, and rests her hands on top of the pommel.

Does this mean it’s playtime?

"Yeah, screw it." Sigrún says, "We'll find the human after we kill this idiot. Can't say I didn't try to do this clean."

She then pulls out her greataxe, which is quite a bit larger than the bugbear's morningstar, and addresses the goblins in the room with a snarl, in their own language. "If any of you move, you'll join him."

Smelkie doesnt want to blow his cover, but he surely hopes the others heard Sigrun and Netish and are in a hurry to get up... this is going to get nasty very quick.

He takes an arrow and loads it, ready to fire at the big wolf once he runs towards them.

Lonnie ascends with all the grace of a drunken carrot, but the rope is enough to let her get there without TOO much trouble. Or at least, without injuries.

Seeing the two Barbarians ready themselves to strike, the bugbear roars out an order to the goblins Kill 'em both! and goes to engage Sigrún with his spiked club. The goblins drop their serving dishes. Some pull out scimitars, but two start to rush to the far end of the room where you see they have shortbows

Charging the menacing bubear Myrus swung his warhammer in fury attempting to crush his foe!

The wolf attempts to recover, but Smelkie's bolt did more damage than it seemed and it collapses to the floor. Maria's firebolt hits it's mark and the bugbear lets out a pained roar. Myrus lands a heavy blow on Klarg and calls on the Foehammer for the strength and speed for a second strike, but he pulls up a shield at the last moment and deflects the second blow.

With the wolf out of commission Sigrún doesn't need to worry about taking a heavy swing at Klarg as well. It strikes true, the bugbear overwhelmed by the sheer number of foes suddenly springing forth. He's on his feet but badly hurt

Myrus raises his warhammer to strike again glaring at the bugbear, "WHERE ARE THE CAPTIVES?!?! Tell us and perhaps we'll spare your wretched life!"

Della's quarterstaff cracks down on the shoulder of the goblin archer and he hits the floor. The other archer barely ducks Della's next strike and scampers across the floor before opening fire on the monk.

Klarg swings his morningstar in a wide arc at Sigrún, attempting to crush the goliath before turning his fury to the rest of you

Netish beheads a goblin warrior in one clean stroke and his sword and shield clatter to the cave floor

The remaining goblins charge and attack the rest of the frontline

Finally making it to the top, Lonnie enters the fray! From the back, she launches a gust of frozen wind against the bugbear.

Unfortunately, the bugbear's battle fury stops them from really feeling the chill.

Sigrún's axe breaks through Klarg's shield, severs his forearm, and buries itself deep in the bugbear's chest. He dies staring confusedly at where his shield and arm use to be, not fully comprehending his fate until he reaches the next life. The goblins shriek in terror, their attacks becoming frenzied and desperate

Yorrel pulls out the berry Lonnie gave her and shoves it into Smelkie's mouth, clamping his jaw shut with one hand to crush it between his teeth. Good thing his head is so small. She lingers over him for a moment trying to see if the magic worked, but she's not a healer. He'll live if he lives.

"If you're alive, play dead," she murmurs to him.

Straightening up, she moves into the fray, trying to trace around the perimeter of the cavern so she can see if more goblins have been attracted by the sounds of battle.

"Shut up!" she snarls at the shrieking ones.

Action: Cast Vicious Mockery on a goblin.

The goblin takes (1d4)[1] psychic damage on a failed DC 14 Wis Save. If they fail their save, they also have disadvantage on their next attack roll made before the end of their next turn.
