    You press onwards, eventually passing an area where the path broadens, turning into a pile of rubble that reaches from floor to ceiling. This must have been the main entry to the dwarven city. Now, it's just a reminder that not all bad things are caused by Dracula.

    About two hours after you descended into the dwarf road, you see sunlight ahead of you. The path ascends, then flattens, then takes a slight downwards grade, perhaps to keep rainwater from flowing down it. You reach the surface, and see the brightness of daylight again. It is a welcome sight!
    Before you lays a cleared dirt road, wide enough for a single wagon, running east-northeast.

    You follow the road into the Alba Woods. They are well-watered and lush, but curiously dim. Even during the day, the areas under the boughs of the trees are dimly illuminated, and sound seems to be absorbed quickly, making it harder to perceive things in the distance.

    You travel for a couple of hours, eating as you move. Around the third hour, about 1pm in the afternoon, Sabian spots some wolves bedded down adjacent to the path ahead. One of them leaps up and barks, a call quickly taken up by others around it.

    Chloe tries to climb a tree, but isn't able to get a good grip and drops back to the ground. She readies a flask of fire, but when a wolf moves close, it misses (servant miss, save made on bonfire). The remainder of the wolves charge in.

    Again, Mustafa saw his party surrounded. Hoping Dracula hadn't given his wolves the power of flight, he retreated towards Chloe while reaching for the rope he always kept on the side of his backpack. Just a quick knot at the end of its extension gave it the weight necessary for him to swing it around and throw it up a branch, allowing it to fall on the other side. He quickly launched himself up the rope and held it firmly so the others could climb it too.

    Sabian spots wolves up ahead, Wolves! he hisses to the others. One lets out a bark and a full two dozen wolves pop up from the grass, Lots of them! With too many to take on directly, the group makes for the trees. Sabian is immediately surrounded, but keeps his shield moving to keep the wolves at bay. There's a group charging straight for Chloe, so Sabian breaks away and heads straight for them, hoping to give her time to get up the tree.

    More move in, forming quite a crowd around your outnumbered group. Mustafa is born down to the ground with a wolf's fangs in his belly, while Chloe's spray isn't as effective as she'd like.

    Too many wolves surrounded him. Between snaps and gnarls and bites, Mustafa stood his ground by bashing with his shield and evoking quick flashes of blinding golden light, but it was only a matter of time until he was overwhelmed and one of the beasts grabbed his leg, and the earth rose to greet him. Mustafa knew what happened next: each wolf would grab a piece of him and he would be torn apart. Not an honorable death, he thought.

    He rolled backwards, twisting his whole body so the wolf would have to let him go, but they were too many to dodge. He would be tripped again and again and again. Reaching for his moon-and-star scepter, Mustafa cried the magic words that summoned flames that were bigger than they were powerful, a spell designed to deal with hordes of (hopefully fragile) enemies.

    Titus kills one of the wolves with his blast, the first to fall (#11). Cassandra takes a hit and gets tripped, but her magical shield saves her from other attacks as she kips up and blasts flame over five wolves, slaying one (#9) and badly burning four of them, as well as lighting some underbrush on fire. Sabian slays one of the wolves attacking him (#1). Mustafa stands, blasting flames in front of him in holy fury, slaying four wolves outright.

    The wolves counterattack, even though a few of their number have fallen. There is madness in their eyes, along with reflected flames from the burning bushes. Sabian and Mustafa are each bitten, while Cassandra collapses to the ground with jaws locked on her in two places.
