Server Issues the Past 48 Hours

Last night, from approx. 7:00-10:00 pm EST, the pages were loading with glorious lickety-splitness; but during the past hour everything is back to glacial slowness, with 30-40 second page loading times.

That value has been consistent throughout the past 1.5 weeks, which may be relevant in itself.

Echoing this experience. I had very smooth loads from about ~2:30pm EST on, going back to the previous slowness (though no error messages yet) around 10pm. Firefox on Windows 10.

I have also been having these issues with the forums at least since early this month. Can't say whether or not it falls within a certain time frame, but I've had everything from the server busy messages to slow load times to just not connecting to the site. And at least one other person in my Play-by-post game let me know they were experiencing a similar issue. Honestly reminds me of just before the site had to move servers.

The forum has given me the "Server busy, please try again later" message multiple times in the past 15 minutes. It's also still slow in general.
EDIT: As of about 3 hours later, the forum seems to be working properly.
EDIT2: And now it's slowed down again.

Loading has been only slightly draggy for most of the weekend, but tonight from around 5:00-7:00 pm EST it’s started hanging longer and longer, to the point of excruciating drag trying to post this just now. Whatever’s been going on really seems to like weekends.

this occurs weekdays, weekends, during most of the AM/PM portion of the 24 hour time clock, mid day still lag but not as bad.

500 Internal Server Errors, today, 25 minutes ago, on Firefox, Windows OS. Issue went away just as fast.

After a week or so of everything working fine (for me, at least), I'm currently experiencing worse performance than ever with loooong loading times (I clocked the time from hitting Reply to actually being able to start writing this post and it was close to three minutes) and several Gateway time-out errors.

I'm getting gateway timeout errors from cloudflare this morning indicating issues with the forums. Even when it does load, it takes ages. Browsing on chrome from sn Android phone.

I can echo that it was very bad this morning with repeated gateway issues/errors and long page load times, however as of around 5-10 minutes ago (~3pm GMT) it's back to normal speed, so whatever happened has 'fixed' it (for now? Hopefully forever).

Echoing that last week was fine, but experiencing intermittent periods today of normal forum speeds followed by cloudflare timeout errors.

The long delays and occasional timeouts have been rather frustrating.

Is there any information about the cause or the potential resolution that you might be able to share?

Yeah, it takes about three minutes or so per page to load right now. Sometimes longer. I can accept it being hard to fix or even figure out, but I'd still like to be informed of what the mods do know and what they're doing about it.

I've actually been observing some issues for a while now, maybe a week or three. They were minor until now, mind you; slower than expected loading times and the occasional "server too busy." But still a noticeable difference in performance from what I was accustomed to on this website. It's possible this is just the apex of a problem that otherwise has roots further back.

I'm largely accessing the site through my phone, usually not an issue even using the full site instead of mobile. But both Google Chrome and Firefox have had issues now with speed. It comes and goes but it's definitely worse and more frequent than normal. And it's specifically related to the forums, the comic and news feed load just fine.

And also they knew it so for there had been rains of 404 errors and the speed of glaciers from loading the site, in divers places upon divers devices, and sadness was upon the face of the Saintheart, for he loved the beautiful Giant's site in its ordained place in the Playground, and all its content and wonders, and it grieved his heart to see it so slow.

But Saintheart surely heard the cries of the mods and IT gurus who were working upon the site to cause darkness not to fall upon its face, and he had faith, and he pressed the button upon his browser which was an arrow travelling in a circle, and he hoped for a new dawn to cometh right soon.

It's been extremely hard to navigate or post today - I'm getting 500, 504, or 524 errors about four-five times for every one successfully loading page. On Windows 10 and Firefox version 104, connecting from the UK through a work VPN.

EDIT: While trying to post this, I also got a 525. Often it's not that the server is chugging and trying to load for a while before falling back on an error, it just loads straight to the page.

Along with other things I'm doing, this entire month has been demoralizing enough that burnout is forming, and I just informed my server I'm taking a one-month break.

I really hope things gets situated in that time.

Does anyone have any insight as to why we've been dealing with this the past three weeks?

Today is noticeably the worst it's been for me so far. Repeated 504s all morning (loading into this thread took 10 minutes). Any updates that can be shared on what's going on?

Site is now taking a full one to two minutes to navigate from one page to another, and sometimes just dead-ends with an error message of one kind or another. This is around 9:30-10:00 am EST, Firefox on Mac.

In one of my long-term games we’re discussing moving to another platform, and we’re likely not the only ones. Not really possible to keep a game viable under these circumstances.

Just adding to the chorus about massive server issues over the past 18 hours being extremely severe. There have been 30 minute patches where the site runs perfectly fine, but outside of those the site constantly crashes and takes 1-4 minutes to load between pages. It doesn't seem to matter what browser or platform I'm using to interact with it, or even if I'm using a VPN or adblock, so it's almost certainly a server-side issue.
