My Myconid
Can anyone tell me a way within RAW to have a druid with a myconid animal companion? The plant companion variant doesn't quite do it for me, sadly.

As far as I see the description of Myconids they seem to fall into the plant category. There are Myconids that are tiny (junior worker) and small (average worker). Why exactly would the plant variant not work then?

Not a companion, but you can Plant Wild Shape (level 12, level 10 for landforged walkers) into a myconid sovereign and then use reproduction spores to grow new myconiths into existence, at which point you can use mundane diplomacy / Command Plants to make them do your bidding.
