I don’t imagine V enjoying it much. I think the bit about absinthe being poisonous (beyond the alcohol) is an urban myth but it’d still mess them up nastily with their Con penalty, wouldn’t it?

I always saw CHA and WIS as V's dump stats?

(Might be because all mages/sorcerers in my campaigns always chose to have high CON, even the elven ones. Having 1d4-1 or 1d4-2 HP/level is rough ^^)

I vaguely remember one post of Rich’s mentioning they have a Con penalty, and another that V’s other mental stats aren’t that terrible. The second one definitely has a link on the analysis thread at least.

-1 CON means, what, 30-35 HP at level 17? Oof. Unless they took a feat to compensate, that's some serious Glass Canon thing they have going.

V themselves talked about their non-ideal charisma when they had to apologize to Elan during the "I am a wizard!" incident, and they've got some real communication problem going on through most of the comic, so I assumed it was the dump stat. ^^

Well yeah, it's one of the few things that prevent V from handling practically every single combat scene without it feeling forced. They've had spells that can shut down entire fights for the past five hundred strips or so, and there's only so many times that "spell resistance too high for V to overcome" and "physical combatant with AMF" makes sense.

Well, we've seen V drinking wine before.

(Actual absinthe contains thujone, which is indeed a toxic chemical. Whether or not thujone actually has the effects the absinthe drinkers of legend claim it does is very much up for debate, though.)

Did you read The Hobbit? Because the elves there, at least those of Rivendell, are pretty silly bunch who sing nonsense songs, tease the dwarves about their beards, party all the time, frolick through the meadows and seem to be allergic to serious business. It's Elrond alone who keeps them on track. The elves of the Murkwood are more serious, but even they party most nights and enjoy a good amount of wine.

People shouldn't overvalue thujone. It's also in thyme and rosemary, and nobody claims those are toxic.
