Unslotted Magic Items
What's the formula for calculating the price of a magical item that does not uses a slot?

Looks like you found the answer yourself, but the general rule is that unslotted is a doubling of price. Ioun Stones from the DMG are a primary example of this. The +2 enhancement Ioun Stones are 8k, while their respective slotted pieces are only 4k.
