How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
Smokey Confinement from Complete Mage says
The subject remains trapped within the focus, unaware and ageless.
My opinion is no but what do you think?

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
It says nothing about stopping time or affecting spells, the creature just does not age, so why would the duration not run out?

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
Because the summon is ageless. If ageless time doesn't pass for you. If time isn't passing for you then the summon shouldn't have its duration going down.

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
The summon is not getting any older alright, but it says nothing about stopping time inside the focus or anywhere else in the multiverse.

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
The only way to not get older is for time to cease moving for you.

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
You're right, but the summon isn't brought in with an internal timer, but an external timer. The effect that brings it to this plane and keeps it here for the duration (albeit quite a short one) is separate from the summon, outside of all other effects. So it be transported back to its plane at the end of the duration.

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
A lot of d20s attitude towards spells is based on the rule of "If it's not explicitly stated in the description, then it probably doesn't do it."
So I'm sorry...but your attempt at creating poke-balls of delayed summoning just isn't going to work. :D
(But hey, it's not us you have to convince. It's your DM. So Godspeed!)001100010010011110100001101101110011

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
The spell simply stops all cell degeneration keeping your body unchanged.
It makes for agoodriddle.
Q: How can you (or rather your friends) celebrate your birthdays without you getting any older.
A: If you are in a Smokey Confinement (and if you are not a summoned monster).

Re: How do Summons interact with Smokey Confinement?
In general, NOTHING stops summoned creatures vanishing when the summoning spell ends... this seems like a law of magic, as if the connection to the home plane is stronger than any other magic. Its stated for pretty much any kind of spell that restricts movement like Dimensional Anchor, so its unlikely that other spells would do this even if its not explicitly stated.
