Has anyone tried the Pendant of Redemption?

An item from Complete Champion: Pendant of Redemption. Costs 8000 gp, gives various bonuses to Diplomacy and Intimidate, but that's not the point.

For PCs with Detect Evil ability, it transforms that ability while worn. Instead of detecting evil, the ability shows whether or not a creature can be redeemed in the eyes of your god, and how to do it.

Has anyone tried this item? It sounds extremely useful for a LG palading, but in the other hand, very troublesome for the DM.

Make that Programmed Amnesia. Takes longer to cast, but doesn't have the [evil] descriptor so it's available to the kind of people that would be using this item.
